omazus:
Mr. Omatseye, I like reading you every Monday at the back of the Nation. Before now, as an undergraduate I read you in the Sun Newspapers. The truth is, I do not read you because of the wisdom and the truth contained in your write up but in your mastery and skillful use of the English language. It is a pity that that skill which made me to fall in love you is lacking in this write up.

Just yesterday, as Nigerians were killing themselves I was ensconsed in Thomas Friedman's book, "The Lexus and the Olive Tree." It is a book about globalisation and world development. In that book Friedman artfully exposed what I may call the problem of Nigeria. And it is this. "Half of the world seemed to be intent ... on building a better lexus, dedicated to modernising, streamlining and privatizing their economies in order to thrive in the system of globalisation. And half of the world - sometimes half the same country, sometimes half the same person - was still caught up in the fight over who owns which olive tree." That a writer should lend his trade to struggle about ownership of an olive tree, and to lie bardefacedly while doing so tells much about us as a country.[/s]

The truth is that the Yoruba person is is ingrained with an incurable hatred of the Igbo.[s] I do not know why. But this is why I say so. A Yoruba friend told me how as a kid he read a book about the origin of the Igbo. It was a Yoruba book which he showed to me but since I couldn't raed the language I couldn't follow with the content. In that book, the Igbo was a product of a relationship between a Yoruba female outcast and a monkey. If I did not believe this many comments I have read from Yoruba nairalanders here have4 made allusion to this. Therefore, I was not suprised when a Yoruba child of 12 years who visited me, sat on my house and was served food declared to my own daughter with whom she was sharing the food that she hates all Igbo people. I was taken aback. At such a tender age. I sat back and asked her, so you hate me. She said no that I'm a good person but she hates all other Igbo persons. The message has been delevered and Igot it. Children get their worldviews from their parents and if a child could harbour such a thought then we are all done as a nation.

My point is this, the Igbo were agitated by Oba's comment because almost all of them in Lagos are aware of this feeling of hatred against them. And in the recent time we have heard of giving the Igbo in Lagos the Hausa treatment they received in Kano. Now it is becoming an official practice to hate the Igbo and stop him by all means the Igbo must have a rethink. As a tribe we must make a conscious decision that henceforth no further buying and developing of property in Lagos. If you have made money, take it down to the East and build there. Thank you.[/s]

If the emboldened statement in your post does not highlight incurable paranoia, I don't know what does.
I take it you have that bit of conjecture on good authority...

More to the point; where were your expressions of a siege-mentality, when Oba Akiolu addressed other 'subjects' using the same language last year? (see further below)

Wait a minute, isn't it true that what your post really portrays is the kind of hypocrisy which has you looking the other way when other Nigerians are repatriated to their places of origin - as Fashola has done severally - but not when it concerns those from a particular sub-region. No? In other words, the well penned indignation about the inhuman treatment of a particular cohort who are to be considered 'special'?

Just so you know - while those of us who have chosen to maintain a steely silence can handle disagreeable opinions, which are conveyed with candour, we have absolutely no time for those who traverse the route of duplicity.

APC Chieftains Bomb Oba Akiolu…Say ‘You Lack Power To Impose Ambode As Lagos Gov’

"Irked by the reported endorsement of Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode by the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, a political group in the state, the Visioners for New Lagos (VNL) insisted at the weekend that the Lagos monarch did not have the kind of powers he arrogated to himself but merely relished in grand illusion.

The group which claimed it has been vindicated by the unguarded disposition of the “phantom Lagos elders” as represented by Akiolu for which it raised the alarm some weeks ago, said Akiolu had only veered off his brief by arrogating to himself, the right and power to determine who governs Lagos.

Akiolu had Thursday at a book launch said Ambode had been anointed a successor to Fashola in 2015.

“I will not lie to you. The elders of Lagos have met and they have said that Ambode should be governor. The elders have said Ambode should be the next governor of Lagos State. Other aspirants have the right to aspire too. But I will not open my eyes and allow the son of the Oba of Ewekoro to be the governor. But all things are in the hand of God Almighty,” he said.

Leader of the group, Mr. Bambo Akin-Johnson said when the group drew the attention of the public to the fact that “Tinubu and his business partner, Akiolu had endorsed Ambode as Governor Fashola’s successor some weeks ago, Tinubu had denied in a press statement, forcing many undiscerning to think it was a typical political ranting.

“But today, that would no longer be an issue. That they have come out of their hiding is good for us. It has vindicated us and exposed them. It shows there is more to this satanic endorsement than meets the eye. Unfortunately for them, they have made their antics known early enough and the better for the challenge ahead,” he said.

Oba Akiolu Places Curses On Ambode’s Opponents

..Tinubu Angry With Monarch

...Last week, Oba Akiolu received some prominent indigenes of Lagos and politicians in his palace where he started raining curses and abuses on anybody that does not support Ambode. He said any family that is against Ambode in Lagos will perish and will never be prosperous.

”What came out from Oba Akiolu’s mouth shocked a lot of people, because he is supposed to be father to everybody in Lagos. A lot of people there were angry with Oba Akiolu because he has no reason to place curses on anybody that is not in support of his candidate”. Our source stated.

Meanwhile, we gathered that some top APC politicians in Lagos are already withdrawing their supports for Akinwunmi Ambode over what they described as the overzealousness and domineering posture of Oba Akiolu.

Evidence That Former Oyo Governor Rasheed Ladoja Secretly Refunded N500 Million Of Monies Stolen From The State Coffers

APR 10, 2015

Former Oyo state governor and current gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party, Rasheed Ladoja, secretly refunded at least N500millions naira to the state treasury after he was caught red handed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2008 converting shares belonging Oyo state government to personal use, according to documents and duplicates of cheques obtained by SaharaReporters the monies were refunded first to the EFCC between 2008 and 2013.

Controversy as to the status arose because the Economic and Financial Commission did not disclose the specific accused persons from whom the refunds were extracted prompting the attorney general of Oyo state to send a letter to the anti-graft agency on April 1st 2015 asking for specifics relating to accused persons from whom monies looted from the state was recovered.

The letter also obtained by SaharaReporters claimed that at least two vehicles were recovered from the former governor.

Due to the size of the documents SaharaReporters could not upload all the duplicate cheques atonce, however, they will be uploaded on our facebook fan page You might be required to 'like' the page to see the cheques.

Politics / Igbo In Lagos Forgive Oba Akiolu, Pledge Support For Ambode by TheOtherview: 7:44am On Apr 09, 2015
Igbo in Lagos forgive Oba Akiolu, pledge support for Ambode

Apr 9, 2015

Leaders of the Igbo ethnic group in Lagos yesterday said they have forgiven Oba Rilwan Akiolu and moved on with their lives.

Oba Akiolu had made a controversial statement against the ethnic group over their perceived support for the opposition in the state.

The Igbo leaders, after a meeting with traditional rulers in Amuwo Odofin, said they have also unanimously endorsed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of Ndi Eze, Lagos, Eze Dr. Gordian Dim, refuted the hatred comments being circulated in the social media with regards to the Oba’s comment, saying it was meant to cause disaffection between the Igbo and the monarch. He said, “What transpired at the Oba’s palace was not what was painted by some media organisations. I engineered the whole process, and I can say confidently to you that the Oba’s statement was misconstrued and should be discarded.

“His statement was a joke and we all laughed over it, we even promised him a wife.”

He noted that the needed transformation from the centre of excellence would be achieved if the ambition of Ambode was supported.

The Igbo leaders said that Lagos State has been their home and they will always support the progressives as enshrined in the APC.

He enjoined all Igbo to come out en mass and vote for Mr. Ambode on Saturday.

Responding, Onilado of Ilado and Inagbe Island, Oba Mobadenle Oyekan, thanked the Igbo for the visit and assured them that Lagos State was home to all and the government would never deny any citizen his or her right, or against discriminate anybody irrespective of religion or ethnic background.

Oyekan restrated the good relationship with the Igbo since the creation of Lagos State and appealed to them to continue with it in order for more synergy and development to continue in the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Babatunde Fashola has urged the electorate in the state to vote for their well being, security, prosperity and protection of their future.

The governor, who said this yesterday, noted that in casting their votes on Saturday, Lagosians should know that they are voting for the future of their children.

He said: “You will be choosing candidates and a party that you will entrust your lives to. Think hard, think clearly, think deeply. Ask yourselves a few questions.

“Who has shown a better record and example of protecting and securing you between the political parties?

“Which of the parties cares more when disasters happen? What is the record of the parties as it relates to the promises they have made to you in the past? Which of the parties do you see regularly and which one do you see once in a while?

“Which of the parties do you see when your life or property is threatened by epidemics like Ebola or by unfortunate accidents like plane crashes? Which of the parties is showing that you can become home-owners without knowing anybody?

“Which party has responsibility for providing electricity for you, and which one is taking up the responsibility to light up your streets and communities at night? Which of them cares more about your children and their safety?

“Indeed ask yourself, which of the parties threatened you with thugs on that sad Monday of March 16 and which is seeking to protect you by supporting the police with patrol vehicles, fuel and other equipment?”

According to him, the choice of who to vote for will be easy for the electorate if they can provide answers to the questions raised above.

He added: “Indeed, you have clear choices to make between parties that use your resources to develop your society and community on the one hand, and the party that chooses to bring money to you for distribution when election beckons.

“So, you can choose between schools for your children, hospitals for your community, roads for your transportation or in the alternative, you can choose to have these services monetised once in four years.”

Fashola lamented that out of 5.8 million registered voters and 3.8 million PVC collections, only about 1.5 million turned out to vote on the 28th March, 2015.

“Think of all the pain, the effort, the sleepless nights it took to get the PVCs to you. Think of the best way to show that the effort was not wasted or in vain. It seems to me that the best way is to have all these 3.8 million voters come out to vote.

Exclusive! Patience Jonathan Sacks EFCC, Allocates Anti-Graft Agency’s Office To ADC…As Officials Loot, Share Govt Properties

April 08, 2015

With about six weeks to vacate their offices, top officials of the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration have embarked on a looting spree, selling off priced government properties to themselves at ridiculous and scandalous prices. To further compound the impunity of the Jonathan’s administration, a building allocated to Nigeria’s anti-graft police, the EFCC used for intelligence operations since the days of Nuhu Ribadu and Farida Waziri as heads of the organisation, has been taken off from the current head of the agency, Ibrahim Lamorde by the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan and allocated to her police ADC, one Assistant Commissioner of Police, Uche Ifeanyi.

An aggrieved top presidential aide who told iReports-ng.com about the last minute sharing of government properties located within the Aso Rock presidential villa, high brow areas of Abuja such as Wuse 2, Asokoro and Maitama as well as in places like Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Apapa GRA and Ikeja GRA in Lagos, disclosed that Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim is the one coordinating the last minute looting and sharing exercise.

It was further learnt that as part of deliberate and well coordinated efforts under the supervision of Nigeria’s controversial Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN to cripple the EFCC soon after its immediate past chairman, Farida Waziri was relieved of her position, Lamorde largely seen as weak and docile was summoned to the villa to surrender the keys to the building located at 15 Ibrahim Taiwo road within the Aso Rock villa. “He was not even allowed to remove the EFCC furniture in the building”, the source added.

The building was subsequently allocated to Mrs Jonathan’s ADC to live in. To give the criminal effrontery official seal, the property which is a seven bedroom duplex with two bungalows is now being given to the First Lady’s aide to buy at less than the price of the furniture in the building. The source also disclosed that apart from Mrs Jonathan’s ADC, ministers, President Jonathan’s aides, friends and associates are the main beneficiaries of the on-going hurried sell-off of government choice properties across major cities.

Further details of who has bought or is buying what in the mad looting going on in Abuja will soon be made public by this medium.

“It’s a cosmopolitan city. The name itself ‘Lagos’ is a Portuguese name, not a Yoruba name, or Igbo or Hausa name. Do we have such in Igbo land? We don’t have such.

Mimiko to use workers’ salary for Saturday polls

Apr 8, 2015

. Yet to account for N1.6bn collected for Jonathan campaign

Civil servants in Ondo State, whose March salary was ‘borrowed’ by the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, will have to wait for a long time for the salary as Governor Mimiko has planned to use the workers’ salary to prosecute Saturday’s House of Assembly election.

Mimiko, who has been distributing money to politicians in the state since last week, was desperate to control the majority in the state House of Assembly, but would face a titanic battle in achieving that feat.

The governor, despite the humongous N1.6 billion he collected to prosecute the campaign for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, as the South-West coordinator of the Jonathan/ Sambo ticket, has borrowed about N500 million from the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, OSOPADEC, in addition to civil servants’ salary, as resources to be committed to prosecute the April 11 election.

Governor Mimiko was alleged to have collected N1.6bn campaign fund, out of which he gave his deputy, Alli Olanusi, a paltry N5 million, to work for President Jonathan’s re-election, but failed. The development was said to have led the deputy governor to dump the governor and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC, just few days to the presidential election.

It was also alleged that out of the N500 million he collected for the party’s Lagos rally, about N50m was spent to construct the podium alone.

APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari eventually won Ondo State and the governor’s promise to President Jonathan to deliver one million votes never materialised.

The governor, who had earlier threatened the state civil servants that if he loses control of the state House of Assembly, he will be left with no other option than to use their salary to bribe the Assembly to have his way, has been begging the civil servants not to finally disgrace him in Saturday’s poll, saying that he knew he has been partly disgraced with the outcome of the presidential election in the state.

National Mirror learnt that the governor has been having marathon meetings with the state civil servants and their leaders, where he has softened his hard stance posture and resorted to begging the civil servants to save him from imminent defeat.

He told them that the Ekiti State scenario will play out in Ondo State if the opposition takes control of the state House of Assembly in Saturday’s poll

Exclusive! For Fear Of Probe, Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke Flees To London…Feigns Sickness As Cover To Escape

April 07, 2015

Barely two months to the inauguration of a new government, the fear of the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari is already driving corrupt officials who wield enormous power under the out-going Goodluck Jonathan administration, out of the country. Buhari has declared that the fight against corruption will be a major drive of his in-coming administration.

iReports-ng.com gathered that following her failure to get President Jonathan and ex-Head of state, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar secure a soft landing deal for her from Gen Buhari last weekend, controversial Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison Madueke has fled the country to the United Kingdom, from where she might escape to a safe haven.

It was gathered that Diezani who has a plethora of corruption allegations against her left the country through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Monday aboard a British Airways flight. A reliable source in the presidential villa told iReports-ng.com that “madam had to take off far ahead of the inauguration of the government of Gen Buhari because she is scared he may turn his searchlight on the oil sector.” Ironically, the minister who is widely known to travel around in private jets had to travel this time in the first class cabin of the British Airways flight.

When contacted to confirm the Minister’s whereabout, one of her aides who pleaded for anonymity confirmed Mrs Alison-Madueke indeed left the country on Monday morning but gave a different reason for the trip. According to the minister’s aide “it is true the Hon. Minister traveled but she went to take care of her health because she has been down medically and she needs proper medical attention.”

On when the Minister will be back in the country, the aide said “no one can say when she will be back. That depends on her health and the advice of her doctors. She may come before May 29, she may decide to stay back with her children over there till anytime to take care of herself.”

iReports-ng.com however learnt that the once powerful woman feigned sickness and actually pretended to be seriously sick while going through immigration at the airport departure lounge over fears that she might be stopped from fleeing the country.

Nigerians are waiting to see Mrs Alison-Madueke account for the $20 billion former CBN governor and now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has continued to insist was diverted from the federation account by the Minister and her cronies in NNPC.

Apart from this, a group of whistleblowers against corruption has accused Diezani Alison-Madueke, of squandering millions of dollars of public funds to rent private jets for the conduct of her official activities. In a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the group, known as Crusader for Good Governance, demanded that Ms. Allison-Madueke be investigated for her habit of spending extravagant sums to rent private jets for her official hops.

Mrs. Alison-Madueke has frequently traveled around the world in private jets since becoming a minister, first under the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and later under President Goodluck Jonathan. In addition, she often moves members of her family in private jets.

In 2010, President Jonathan appointed Mrs. Alison-Madueke to the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the nerve center of the Nigerian economy and traditionally the vortex of corruption in a country that is widely regarded as one of the most corrupt in the world.

Since being appointed minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Alison-Madueke has become one of the most powerful Nigerian government officials. Several reports have linked her to sleazy oil deals and a penchant for wastage of public funds.

She has spent some N2 billion on private jet rentals, according to the petition submitted to the EFCC by Enugu-based “Crusader For Good Governance.” The petition was signed by Okechukwu Obiora Nnamdi, the group’s leader.

The group accused Mrs. Alison-Maduekwe of spending $300,000 on an average international trip outside of Nigeria. She reportedly spends as much as $500,000 on trips to such destinations as China, Malaysia and several North American countries, according to the petition. The petitioners listed some of the minister’s most lavish trips.

- During Easter break, she flew a private jet to Dubai with members of her family at the cost of $300,000.

- During President Jonathan’s visit to South Africa, she flew in a private jet that cost Nigeria $300,000.

- The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), a government agency she oversees, maintains a Challenger 850 Visa jet which serves the minister’s needs as well as those of her family. The cost of running the jet is $500,000 per month.

- Ms. Allison-Madueke went to a meeting of the Oil Producing and Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Austria in a private jet.
In addition, the petitioners alleged that, in the last two years, the Petroleum minister has never attended any meeting outside Nigeria in a commercial jet or in any of the jets maintained by the Nigerian Presidency. They stated that she had wasted more than N2 billion on the maintenance of aircraft in the last two years. They accused her of being the only minister who consistently uses private jets to arrive at destinations when the Nigerian president travels abroad.

The petition also carpets Mrs. Allison-Madueke for often doing official jobs out of her house, which means that she is frequently absent from her official desk at the ministry.

As alleged in the petition to the EFCC, Mrs. Alison-Madueke also frequently uses the services of Vista Jet, a Swiss luxury aviation company that provides jets to wealthy businessmen around the world. Vista Jet has done deals with such Nigerians as Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State and Nduka Obaigbena, the flamboyant publisher of Thisday newspaper.

Curiously, Vista Jet has a Nigerian businessman, Kola Aluko, on its board. Mr. Aluko, who once acted as Vista Jet’s West African representative, is known to be close to Ms. Alison-Madueke. “[Kola] Aluko and Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke are neck deep in the oil business,” said a source at the NNPC. “She helped him [Mr. Aluko] to land a choice allocation of pricey oil blocks through a company called Seven Energy,” added the source.

In a petition sent to the Nigerian Senate by the Delta Producing Communities, Ms. Alison-Madueke is accused of transferring the ownership of four oil mining licenses (OML), 30, 34, 26 and 42, to Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept which belongs to Mr. Omokore.

The US-educated minister was long known for her interest in wealth and social climbing. During Nigeria’s last years of military dictatorship, she was linked to several military officers, including one-time Foreign Minister, General Ike Nwachukwu (retd.) and Rear Admiral Allison Amaechina Madueke (retd.), her current husband who was once Nigeria’s chief of naval staff.

We all recall the heated legal battle Gov. Suswam of Benue State went through over his WAEC forgery saga where he reportedly paid his way through to the supreme court with our 'incorruptible' legal system. I happened to stumble over a statement credited to him making mockery of GMB and found some grammatical errors.I really doubted if he actually graduated from UNILAG with LLB. excerpts;

WHEN GOD DECIDE TO PUNISH BUHARI: HE HAS SPENT OVER A TRILLION NAIRA IN 5 PRESIDENTIAL CONTEST

errors in use of these words; Decide should have been decides, contest should have been contests. This man na Olodo confirmed!

Yet another advertorial disaster (YAAD) for Nigeria's burgeoning class of 'politically exposed' PhD holders. grin grin grin

Rt. Hon. Suswam’s thirst for more knowledge since graduating at the University of Lagos has motivated him to pursue a number of academic and professional programmes since acquiring his first degree. He holds the Master of Public Administration from the University of Abuja; Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Jos. He crowned it all with the successful completion of a PhD in law at the same University, which was awarded to him in March, 2011. In addition, he holds a certificate in Management from the University of Lagos; another certificate in Public Finance from the Duke University in America and is an alumnus of the Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts in America where he participated in the Executive Course on ‘ Infrastructure in a Market Economy’ of the Kennedy School of Government in 2008

Great response! You are more intelligent than TheOtherview. undecided undecided

I don't just post on these boards to educate wet-behind-the-ears kids, who are welded to tyranny of the tribe or religion.

I aim to provide information that people on all sides of the political divide can benefit from, simple.
Too bad if that goes over your head.

The age of majority is the threshold of adulthood as it is conceptualized (and recognized or declared) in law. It is the chronological moment when minors cease to legally be considered children and assume control over their persons, actions, and decisions, thereby terminating the legal control and legal responsibilities of their parents or guardian over and for them. Most countries set majority at 18.
