FamilyRe: My Younger Sister Is Getting Out Of Hand! by theplanmaker: 7:56am On Aug 21, 2014
she is 19, definitly not a kid. speaking from my own experience, if you follow the advice of most people here, I.e using extreme measures, you ll only suceed in pushing her outside, into the hands of a man that ll take advantage of her.

she is already grown up, so you can't beat the bad attitude out of her, (can you even beat her?) you just have to help her change. let her know how much you love her as your only sibling. and you can't afford to let her stay on this destructive path.

in a kind loving and polite way, point out the negative things you have noticed, and suggest ways of changing them. let her tell you what she feels you should change too, perhaps there are things that annoy her too.

divide the chores, and rotate them, so she doesn't feel like you are bossing or controlling or over working her. be mild and gentle, never shout, even when she insults you, let her know you still care about her. give her a very long time to change.

make her your best friend, be open and honest. remember, you are dealing with an adult who has a mind of her own. you can't force her! ultimately, she must make her own choices in life, all you can do is advice and guide her. if she doesn't listen, then leave her, but don't give up on her.

she ll learn respect, and suffering will be her teacher
SportsRe: Keshi Quits On Nigeria As Contract Renewal Turns Sour by theplanmaker: 7:37am On Aug 21, 2014
keshi has done his bit for Nigeria. he came at a time when we had lost our spot in Africa, keshi brought that back. but right now we need to achieve greater heights, and keshi does not have the tactical and technical know-how to move super eagles forward, the worldcup proved that......it is Nigeria that needs to move on

HealthRe: Is Doctors' Strike Ethically Justifiable? by theplanmaker: 5:49pm On Aug 18, 2014
this write up would have made a lot of sense if doctors were actually fighting for improved healthcare facilities in Nigeria. but hell no! they are fighting for money and power. preventing others from reaching the apex of their career doesn't improve healthcare, neither does appointing 4 deputy cmacs. hazard allowance of 100k? oversea residency training, and oposing such for others? preventing mlscn from doing its legitimate duty? ......accept it, this strike isn't about improving healthcare, its about money and power.

HealthRe: FG Suspends Residency Training!! by theplanmaker: 10:28pm On Aug 14, 2014
dozymars: Our legislators are the highest paid in the world while our doctors are among the poorest paid in the world.
that statement pricks me always. dnt 4get dat doctors are d highest paid civil servants in Nigeria, outside d oil sector. Nigeria can't pay its doctors d way America pays theirs.
HealthRe: FG Suspends Residency Training!! by theplanmaker: 9:41pm On Aug 14, 2014
parklamson: our ignoramus President continues from where he stop, he can't do without breaking records over records, I don't expect sensible
policy from a cretin. he's the first president in whole world to sack all lecturer in a country, he also set a new record to be the only
president to sack all resident Doctors because they are demanding for their right. they should call this aberrant man called GEJ in
order. what a totalitarian decision?
I don't support sacking resident doctors, but I have to ask, what exactly is the "right" they are asking for? that the government should disobey a court order? or renegade on an agreement it had with other health workers? simply put, doctors demands are arrogant, selfish and senseless
HealthRe: FG Suspends Residency Training!! by theplanmaker: 9:31pm On Aug 14, 2014
Onegai: Some are useless. But others are very worthwhile, CMD of First Consultant is a diamond (he's so good). Why do you think those doctors re still alive, 3 weeks after? It was doctors that said to govt "go to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo state and get their medical staff to train Lagos public health workers. Those guys are trained in how to handle Lassa fever (which is very similar to ebola in symptoms and infection rate), so they will teach us sharply, because everyone is scared".
Even Irrua is not ready to handle ebola, the same govt that let measles and other viral vaccines finish in the country (so we are now at risk of contracting Yellow Fever, which is worse than ebola because it is mosquitoes that transfer it), the same govt cannot maintain isolation wards in either LUTH, Mainland or Irrua, that cannot fund Prof Iwu's research for years or even medical education, the same govt with the highest paid Senators in the world, and 9 private jets in the Presidential fleet, una dey support? If you knew what I knew! You would be staying home, praying in tears for 42 days to pass with no new infection.

If not for doctors, the Liberian called his Ambassador who then called his "big men in Naija govt" to release him from First Consultant. Only the doctors stood firm and said until his PCR test came back, no release. Else, we would be at 50 infected people by now.

This is NOT the time to say "No money or no morale", give doctors and nurses ANYTHING THEY WANT (short-term) and start shoring up the Medical health education in the country which is so poor longterm. Only LUTH can accurately diagnose Ebola, half the professors in uni have never used the machine. That is what doctors are fighting for. And hazard pay of N5000? Will you take even one bag of rice to his family once he gets infected?

I'm not a doctor but I've been so demoralised seeing FG's true nature about this outbreak. I and a friend were going to donate hand sanitisers in July to GH in Lagos, see how everyone who heard was thanking me. Ordinary hand sanitiser, we don't have in hospitals fighting a viral outbreak. LUTH is given millions and yet, their ECG machine will catch fire when patient is inside and your president will send his wife to Germany for months for treatment rather than subject her to what he subjects you to. And you support him. No accountablilty or responsibility from govt, so the board too, loots.

Osanobua, it is truly the rich who can afford to leave this country that are fighting for good governance. GEJ till America pities Nigeria and sends 10 bottles of Zmapp that una will fight over, out of fear and desperation grin
I quite agree with you, having worked in lassa fever unit at irrua. there's more the government can do. even the little money put into research doesn't come from the fg!
