Five members of a Benin religious sect have died of asphyxiation after they were reportedly told to burn incense and charcoal in locked prayer rooms as they waited for the world to end. Several people were taken to hospital after the weekend incident in Adjarra town, near the capital Porto Novo. The Very Holy Church of Jesus Christ of Baname sect opposes the voodoo religion - one of the major faiths in Benin. Members of the controversial sect have clashed with followers of other faiths. The group's young leader, Vicentia Chanvoukini, known by her followers as "Lady Perfect", has proclaimed herself a god. About 40% of the population of the West African nation are believed to be following voodoo. Voodoo Day is a public holiday and there is a national Voodoo museum. |
A polyandrous Zimbabwean woman, Jack Chako, has given details on how her relationship with her two husbands has progressed, and how she enjoys sexual intimacy with them. ZimPapers reports that the 30-year-old woman claims that her life is a bed of roses. On how she gets maximum sexual satisfaction ‘as claimed’ from her husbands – Michael Hwita and Lifford Chimoto, Chako said, “We are a happy family, I live with my two husbands and we love one another. “My two husbands are best friends and they are always together. “Chimoto is the elder husband, while Hwita is the junior. “I married the second Hwita because Chimoto is elderly and increasingly becoming weak in bed. “They both have different roles and I love them both. “They have different strengths. Chimoto fetches a lot of firewood and cleans up the house well but he is weak in bed and weak when it comes to fending for the family. “The reason why I married a second husband is that Chimoto was starving me sexually. “Hwita is also technically minded. He repairs a lot of broken goods, including cell phones and cobbles shoes too, making him bring some cash home. His biggest strength is he is excellent and strong in bed. “To be honest, in terms of conjugal rights I favour Hwita. He gets me there. “I only do it with Chimoto as a token. At times, I feel pity for Chimoto and give him token conjugal rights and he appreciates that. “The rule is no one gets out of the room, because he is not on duty. Whoever is not on duty, just watches us at it. “I am in charge and my two husbands are now used to sleeping side by side in one bed; because they don’t mind and they both appreciate each other for the different roles each play to the family,” the mother of five, three children from a previous marriage and two from this polyandrous affair stated. Speaking further, she said, “I use some concoction to pacify my husbands. It is not a secret that I used a concoction to cow them down. I also sell this concoction to other women to cow down their errand husbands and make them compliant. “None of my two husbands wishes to leave me. Initially I only had Chimoto but I ran away from him and went to my parents’ home because he was not satisfying me sexually and I was tired of stealing sex from neighbouring boys and men. But he followed and pleaded until my parents ordered me to take him back. “I then gave him a condition that I should get another man to help him in bed and he agreed. This is how I got the second one. Since then, we live happily and enjoy our life, although we know that the generality of people around us do not like it,” Chako explained. The husbands, Hwita and Chimoto, on their parts, said they don’t have problems taking Chako says their joint wife. Chimoto said, “I know my failings and I appreciate the decision which was taken, we have various duties and life goes on.” Hwita said, “I see no problem. She loves both of us and we understand our situation. “I respect Chimoto as the elder husband because I found him here.” |

DDeliverer:You weren't in anyway instrumental to your coming into existence. His life, your life and mine is a gift. We didn't do anything to get it. B careful what you wish for. If you say for example, maiduguri is bad, Lagos will b better. Do you know maybe it's when you get to Lagos that another barrack bomb will start exploding |

The survey of nearly 7,000 sexually active women aged 16 to 74, in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology , suggests this medical problem - called dyspareunia - is common and affects women of all ages. Women in their late 50s and early 60s are most likely to be affected, followed by women aged 16-24. Doctors say there are treatments that can help if women seek advice. But many still find the subject embarrassing and taboo, the survey results show. Painful sex was strongly linked to other sexual problems, including vaginal dryness, feeling anxious during sex, and lack of enjoyment of sex. |
testicle pain and swelling can sometimes be caused by getting sexually aroused but not ejaculating (coming). It can also be a sign of an infection, such as chlamydia. |
Female suicide bombers in Nigeria are now carrying babies to avoid detection in their attacks, authorities warn. An attack in the town of Madagali on 13 January saw two women detonate their devices, killing themselves, two babies, and four others. They had passed a vigilante checkpoint, mistaken for civilians because they were carrying infants. Female attackers have been seen before, but officials said the use of babies could signal a "dangerous" trend. The insurgent group Boko Haram is widely suspected of having carried out the attack. Four women attacked Madagali located in Adamawa State, which was recaptured from Boko Haram in 2015. Two were stopped at a security checkpoint, and detonated their devices, officials said. The two women carrying infants, however, were not stopped, and exploded their own devices past the security point. Boko Haram is known for using women, including young girls, as suicide bombers. |

:Bread, chips and potatoes should be cooked to a golden yellow colour, rather than brown, to reduce our intake of a chemical which could cause cancer, government food scientists are warning. Acrylamide is produced when starchy foods are roasted, fried or grilled for too long at high temperatures. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) recommends carefully following cooking instructions and avoiding browning. However, a Cancer Research spokeswoman said the link was not proven in humans. The FSA also says potatoes should not be kept in the fridge. This is because sugar levels in the potatoes rise at low temperatures, potentially increasing the amount of acrylamide produced during cooking. |

Am at a dilema here. I have been thinking; should other means b sought no mattter how long it takes to oust leaders that dont want to go even after the majority of their nationals want them out ? Its forceful eviction even as a last resort reasonable and will it always b effective? I am thinkinking, God forbid maybe a Nigeria leader one day refuses to concead defeat, should Benin and Niger be obligated to intervene militarily? I mean how would ECOWAS muster a strong enough force to dislodge the leader? Would it b termed double standard and hypocritical policy then if they fail to intervene? |

In 2013 President Obama launched the Power Africa initiative, to try to double access to electricity across sub-Saharan Africa using renewable sources. The target is to add 30,000 megawatts by 2030. The project has only generated 2,000 megawatts so far, but energy businesses operating in Africa say the programme has boosted investor confidence. Its future under a new administration is in some doubt. In an apparent reference to the project, incoming President Trump tweeted his disapproval, saying: "Every penny of the $7 billion going to Africa as per Obama will be stolen — corruption is rampant!" |

Eight individuals as rich as world’s poorest half: Oxfam The UK-based international charity, Oxfam, has warned of soaring economic inequality worldwide, saying that just eight men possess as much wealth as the poorest half of the world’ population, with Microsoft chairman Bill Gates topping the list. In a report titled ‘An Economy for the 99%’ and published on Monday, Oxfam said the economic gap between the super-rich and the poorest is rising to unprecedented levels making it an “indecent” situation that “exacerbates inequalities.” On the list, the Microsoft boss is followed by Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, veteran investor Warren Buffett, Mexico’s Carlos Slim, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle’s Larry Ellison and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg. “The world’s first super-billionaire, Bill Gates, could see its heritage exceed billions of dollars in just 25 years. To spend this amount, it would be to pay a million dollars a day for 2,738 years,” the report said. Businessman Bill Gates speaks to reporters at Trump Tower, December 13, 2016 in New York City. (Photo by AFP) Oxfam presented its findings ahead of the annual gathering of political and business elites in the Swiss resort town of Davos. More than 3,000 participants are expected at the snowy peaks for the 47th World Economic Forum beginning on Tuesday. The report is based on data from Swiss bank Credit Suisse and Forbes. The NGO further called on governments to move towards a more human-centered economy, and work to reduce inequality rather than paying lip service to the problem. The report said the gap between the rich and poor is greater than previously thought, adding that 1 in 10 people survive on less than $2 a day. Inequality has brought about poverty for hundreds of millions, “fracturing our societies and undermining democracy,” said the report, urging politicians to pay attention to the interests of all their citizens, not just the few elite, in order for everyone to have a better future. The report also outlined measures aimed at improving the economic situation in different societies, including enacting higher taxes on wealth and income, funding investments in public services and the job market, ensuring workers are well-paid and that taxes are not neglected by the rich. In 2016, Oxfam came with a report showing the 62 richest people on the planet owned as much wealth as the bottom half of the population. |
