Abraham Omotoso, who stabbed a father to death in a busy high street while his young daughter was in a nearby shop, has been jailed.

Omotoso, 27, of Tudor Gardens, Harrow, was handed an 18-year prison sentence on Friday, 13 October, following a two-week trial, where he was found guilty of manslaughter at the Old Bailey.
He was found not guilty of murder.

Police were called at about 18:50hrs on Monday, 27 February to reports that a man had been stabbed on High Street in Wealdstone.

The man was taken to a central London hospital by the London Ambulance Service but despite the best efforts of medical staff and extensive surgery, he was pronounced dead at about 02:30hrs on Tuesday, 28 February.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Mohamed Al-Zufairi, a father-of-two from Harrow.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

Shortly before 18:50hrs on Monday, 27 February, Mohamed arrived in High Street, Wealdstone, with his eight-year-old daughter. He sent her into Poundland to buy some items while he waited outside. It was then that he was approached by Omotoso.

Witnesses reported that they had a short argument before Omotoso, who was wearing a parka-style coat with the hood pulled up, stabbed Mohamed and ran from the scene still holding the knife.

Mohamed’s daughter did not witness the incident.
On Tuesday, 28 February police were notified that the suspect could have been someone by the name of Femi Omotoso. At about 18:00hrs, he was arrested on the suspicion of murder under the name of Abraham Omotoso at Gatwick airport having just purchased a one-way ticket to Nigeria with cash.

Detectives carried out a number of enquiries, including reviewing CCTV which showed Mohamed walking with his daughter in High Street on 27 February before she goes into Poundland.
It also shows Omotoso walking in High Street in a ‘purposeful’ manner before approaching Mohamed, fleeing the scene and getting in a black Range Rover nearby and driving away.

Officers also tracked Omotoso’s movements in the days leading up to the murder and he was caught on CCTV wearing the same parka-style coat on two separate occasions.

Detectives also examined Omotoso’s mobile phone data which showed it was inactive between 12:40hrs and 19:09hrs on 27 February, which was not in line with Omotoso’s usual daily phone use patterns. The phone’s movement also matched the movement of the Range Rover that left the scene of the crime.

Omotoso remained silent in all of his police interviews. He was charged on 6 March.
Detectives believe the motive for the attack was an ongoing feud between the victim’s brothers and Omotoso’s brother and friends.

Detective Inspector Jon Meager, the investigating officer from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command, said:

"This was a brutal attack in a busy high street which resulted in a young father losing his life. While his daughter did not witness the assault, it is something that is undoubtedly going to affect her for life. Omotoso has shown no remorse for his actions on that day. I hope his conviction gives Mohamed’s family a measure of closure and comfort."

In a statement, Mohamed’s brother Jafar said:

"Mohamed was a family man, his family came first. I still can not really believe what has happened to Mohamed, the constant grief just gets worse. It’s like a massive hole just suddenly appeared in our family, our big brother was there one minute and suddenly he was snatched away. None of us can get a grasp of or understand. It makes it so much worse that we know that he was killed.

"I think it has hit his daughter the hardest. She did not see her dad being stabbed, but was with him. She walked to the local shops to get some sweets with her dad and returned home without him. She was the last one with, holding his hand as she says ‘Daddy never came home with me'.
"Our lives will never be the same, they have been scarred."

Two of the young men who dropped late Tagbo Umeike at the hospital on October 2nd have been arrested by the Lagos State police command, a source close to the situation told LIB exclusively.



The men, who were with Tagbo the night they were all partying to celebrate Tagbo's birthday, were arrested today after Davido brought them himself to see the commissioner of Police in Ikeja who then ordered their arrest following preliminary investigation.



It's been revealed that Tagbo died of suffocation and not alcohol intoxication. The boys are currently at Police Lion Building in Lagos Island. More details to come...

Scores of people have been killed in communal clash between a village in Ikot Offiong, Cross River State.

Aniebiet Antia from Ikot Essien, Oku-Iboku Itu local government area of Akwa Ibom State, shared the photos on Facebook today, calling on the Chief of Army Staff to intervene.

The family of Olugbemiga Abiodun aka DJ Olu just disclosed the burial arrangement of their son who died tragically.

According to information obtained, DJ Olu will be buried tomorrow, Thursday October 12th, 2017.

There will be a Service of Songs in DJ Olu’s honour today, Wednesday October 11th, 2017 at Olaniwun Ajayi Gardens in Banana Island. Funeral service holds tomorrow Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at Emmanuel’s Chapel in Banana Island and interment follows same tomorrow at Ikoyi vaults. See the poster below:

Olugbemiga Abiodun aka DJ Olu was found dead in his car on Saturday, few days after Tagbo Umeike, another associate of Davido died on his birthday. Equally found dead with DJ Olu was his friend Chime.

DJ Olu’s father is billionaire magnate, Ogun State politician and businessman Dapo Abiodun, owner of Heyden Petroleum.

Before his death, DJ Olu was Davido’s official DJ, they had met at one of their billionaire fathers’ parties and developed a friendship that thrived when OBO ventured into music.

Another wanted Boko Haram member arrested in Ondo State


Another suspected member of the Boko Haram group, Mohammed Basha, was yesterday arrested at Isua- Akoko in Akoko South- East LGA of Ondo State, barely five days after a top commander of group, Idris Babawo aka Dikko, was arrested at the same area.

Babawo, said to be number 165 on the wanted list of the military, was arrested when the vehicle in which he was travelling developed a fault. Police said they were yet to ascertain the rank of Basha in the hierarchy on Book Haram command.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, said Basha was arrested while he was loitering on Isua- Ifira Akoko Road, by the men of the anti-crime patrol of the command.

He said: “When the suspect was arrested, he was interrogated and confessed that he was a member of the Boko Haram sect. He said his father is from Niger Republic while his mother is from Maiduguri in Borno State.

“He said when Maiduguri was hot for him he ran to Nasarawa State last month and he left Nassarawa State yesterday (Saturday) and came down to the South-West to hide here.

He also confessed that one Daffo is his team leader while Shekau is still the overall leader of the group.” Joseph said some items suspected to be charms were recovered from the suspect.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate arrest of a policeman, who killed an innocent satchet water seller on Saturday morning, September 30 in Obio-Akpor local Government area of the state.



The officer identified as one Corporal Rowland Onyijie of Okporo Division in Obio-Akpor local Government area of the Police Command, had allegedly demanded for N100 from a sachet water vendor who refused.



Eyewitnesses says as the argument ensued, the Police Corporal cocked his rifle, and release the bullet, instantly killing the sachet water Vendor in his Tricycle.



Spokesperson for the Command, Nnamdi Omoni, who onfirmed the incident said that the Commissioner of Rivers State, CP Zaki Ahmed, has ordered for the immediate arrest and detention of the Corporal at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID for further inquest into the reckless killing.

A man allegedly battered his wife when he found her in a beer parlour with her boyfirend.

According to a Facebook user who shared the story, the man had returned home to find his wife gone and his eight-month-old baby alone with the maid. He went in search of his wife only to find her in a beer parlour with her boyfriend who resides outside the country. In anger, he beat her mercilessly while the boyfriend fled. Others in the beer parlour stood watching and made no effort to stop the abuse.

A Polytechnic graduate took to Facebook to celebrate after writing her final exams but she made a blunder that has given her post attention.

Sharing a photo of herself and coursemates, she wrote: "I come I came and I concer".

Obviously, she meant "I came, I saw, I conquered". She will not be the first to make such a mistake. Just a month ago, a university graduate while rejoicing after writing his final exams also made a similar blunder.
