A Nigerian national, Valentine Ebuka Ezike, has been arrested during a drug sting in the Philippines.
The suspect was nabbed around 9:am on Saturday, January 28, 2023, by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office at Block 8 Lot 34,Palmdale Village, Governor’s Hill, Biclatan General Trias 4107 Cavite.

Authorities seized 500 grams of suspected shabu, a box containing two resealable, transparent plastic bags containing more or less 1,000 grams each of brownish granules substance, a plastic basin containing a weighing scale, four identification cards, one laptop and three cell phones from Ezike, during the buy-bust.

PDEA said Ezike was believed to be a member of the West African Drug Syndicate that recruits Filipinos to transport illegal drugs.

He will be charged with violations of sections 5 and 11, Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The footage showed Tyre Nichols getting punched, hit with a baton, looked like he got kicked in the face, and got irritant sprayed on him. They also got footage of him pleading with them to take him home and calling out for his mother.
On January 27, 2022, a release of the bodycam video took place.

It captures Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old FedEx carrier, yelling “Mum, Mum” over and over as he was viciously attacked by five police officers on January 7, 2023. He had a cardiac arrest and kidney failure before passing away three days later, on January 10, from “extensive bleeding induced by a severe beating,” according to the preliminary autopsy findings.

Four videos of his fatal arrest were released by Memphis officials leading to widespread outrage in the US, as the officers are even heard bragging about the horrific onslaught.

One officer boasts: “I was hitting him with straight haymakers, dog” whilst another says: “I’m gonna baton the f*** out of him.”

In other footage, one police officer repeatedly lands punches to a defenceless Nichols’ head and body while two colleagues hold him upright, with a number of upper cuts rocking back his head.

Another sickening video shows one officer kick Nichols with force to his head as he is being held on the ground by two others.

In further disturbing scenes, Nichols calls out for his mum and, at different points pleads: “I didn’t do anything”, “I’m just trying to go home” and “Stop, I’m not doing anything.”

But the relentless beating, including pepper spraying and tasering, continues.

Ademola Adeleke, the current governor of Osun State, defeated Gboyega Oyetola, his opponent, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday in the Osun State governorship tribunal.
In the July 16, 2022, governorship election, Oyetola and the APC had contested Adeleke and the PDP’s victory.

Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and Akin Olujinmi (SAN), the attorneys for Oyetola, contended that Adeleke did not receive the majority of valid votes and hence should not have been declared the election’s victor.

They also said there were inconsistencies in the certificates presented by Adeleke.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president, attended a town hall meeting with University of Abuja students on Friday.

Director of Defence Media Operation, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, who gave the warning at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja while answering questions during a media briefing on the activities of troops attached to various operations across six geo-political zones in the country, stated that while no territory was under the grip of terrorists, bandits and other criminals, the criminal elements may be present in some local governments.

Danmadami said;

A six-month-old baby boy died in his sleep after his young mother allegedly gave him an overdose of tramadol in order to go clubbing.

Festus Keyamo, the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has been referred to as a “Troublesome Interloper” by Dele Momodu, Director of Strategic Communications for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organization.

In response to Keyamo’s lawsuit against PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who is accused of using Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) to steal public monies between 1999 and 2007, Momodu made this statement.


Momodu claimed in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Friday that the Minister of State for Labour and Employment is seeking attention for the demands, for the former Vice President’s arrest and prosecution.

He claimed that Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, has suffered more harm as a result of Keyamo’s behavior as the APC PCC’s spokesperson than Atiku, and he added that his principal cannot be compared to Tinubu.

Momodu claimed Keyamo’s “gutter language and behavior,” which he defined as his friend, have constantly called for his attacks against Tinubu, and he added that it is his job to stand up for Atiku.


He said: “I’m not in a position to speak about legal issues. As far as I’m concerned, Festus Keyamo is just a troublesome interloper who is looking for attention at all times. And what he has done with that is he has done more damage to Tinubu than to Atiku.

“Senator Dino Melaye spoke on a television Programme and brought new insights to the issues because a lot of people who were not looking at it that way started seeing Tinubu in another light. What Dino said was that Nigeria cannot have a president who is a Pablo Escobar and a Vice President who is Osama bin Laden.

“So, I don’t like it if I have to wrestle with a pig but he’s decided that that’s what he wants. Atiku has told us frontally and clearly that he wants to run an issue-based campaign and you can see him. If you like slap him, he can turn the other cheek. That’s him, otherwise, he would have replied Baba Obasanjo long ago.

“That is why that misperception was able to stick with him. But it is in the character of Fulani. They don’t make noise. A lot of us make noise about a lot of things whether we know the truth or we don’t know it; whether we have the facts or we don’t have it. We just like to whip up all kinds of things.


The PDP chieftain described the court case instituted by Keyamo and the ruling party against Atiku as a waste of Tinubu’s money.

He added that despite a series of allegations against Tinubu, Atiku and the PDP chose to remain silent about it.

He added: “They’re wasting it already on funding a serial blackmailer from escaping from Nigeria to wherever he’s hiding. Nobody is pursuing him. But we know the details, we know what happened and we know why he’s doing what he’s doing.

“That wasn’t the first time he would release the thing, he was looking for a potential buyer and they bought it. So, when they go to court, we will see what will come out of it.”

Christopher Ohizu, the sole administrator of Ideato North Local Government Area in Imo State, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen late on January 19, and they also set fire to his home.

Witnesses said that the assailants shot at the politician’s home before dragging him away while still suffering from a gunshot wound. A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is also said to have been kidnapped by the gunmen during the attack.

A female teacher identified simply as Chukwuka, has petitioned the Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA) and human rights organization, among others, to come to her rescue after an Onitsha-based medical doctor, Dr Walter Igbokwe allegedly dragged her to Omaliko Idemili deity over N600,000 unpaid hospital bill.

According to her, she signed owing the doctor under duress to enable her to take her mother to a better hospital as her health was deteriorating and the doctor had insisted that either she pays the amount or sign an agreement with him before taking away her mother.


“Since then he has been whatsapping me, threatening my life that I will die if I eat his money and that is why I draw your attention to inhuman, unbearable and despicable treatment being meted out to me by somebody who calls himself a medical doctor,” the woman lamented.

“One of the threats is in the Whatsapp he sent to me saying, you are requested and invited to appear at the Arusi Omaliko Ofia, (deity), in Abatete community, tomorrow, 9th day of December 2022, by 9 am Tomorrow 9th December, being Friday. “He told me to deposit #150,000 which I borrowed money and paid as a civil servant, and N75,000 for drugs which I also borrowed money and paid him, yet no drug was provided for my mother.

After 25 years had passed since his death, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, explained on Wednesday why the late Chief Moshood Abiola (MKO Abiola) could not lead Nigeria.

Thisweekng learned that MKO Abiola was declared the election’s likely victor on June 12, 1993.
However, the publisher, businessman, and politician was turned down for the role, and on July 7, 1998, he was killed in Abuja.

Obasanjo stated at an address on Wednesday at a lecture in Ogun State called “Eyin Ni Iwe Wa: You Are Our Epistle” that MKO Abiola could not have become Nigeria’s president thirty years ago because of the deeds of some “bad belle” – (bad people).

The statement was delivered by the former military dictator during the Baptist Boys High School’s centennial celebration in the capital city of Ogun State, Abeokuta.
He said that BBHS graduate MKO Abiola was denied his mandate.

Obasanjo asserted that he would not have become the person he is today without the moral values and excellent education he received at BBHS.

He emphasized how Prince Bola Ajibola, the late sage Obafemi Awolowo, and former International Court of Justice (ICJ) judge were all shaped into the people they are today by the school.

Thisweekng learns that Awolowo attended BBHS in 1928, Ajibola graduated in 1955, Abiola was a member of the class of 1956, and Obasanjo left the institution in 1957.

Obasanjo noted that aside from education, the 100-year-old school had, at different times, inculcated godly virtue in all its products.

“Without BBHS, I would not have been what I am,” Obasanjo declared.

The retired general said the BBHS would have had MKO Abiola as another former president apart from him, but “bad belle” prevented him from becoming President.

Obasanjo said, “Today, there are distinguished old boys in all walks of life, i.e., private sector, academia, military and paramilitary, civil society, traditional rulership, etc. Such is the present President of Old Boys Association of BBHS, Prof. Kayode Oyesiku.

“I believe that I must not be too forgetful to leave out yours truly, the son of Obasanjo, a modest war-victorious General and former Military Head of State and former President of Nigeria. Chief M.K.O. Abiola, the first communication industry millionaire in Nigeria and the acclaimed winner of the 1993 Presidential election who was in a class by himself.

“If not for Nigerian bad belle, M.K.O. Abiola would have been President and with me as President, we would have needed one more old student of BBHS to be President for us to permanently locate it in BBHS after three times. And that is a challenge for up-and-coming generations of old boys.”

The octogenarian urged the new generation to preserve the moral virtues and discipline impacted on them by the school and pass it on in perpetuity.

Obasanjo stressed that what all products of BBHS have in common is godly virtue inculcated in them by the School.

“That was education plus. We carry it to anywhere we go as epistle written by BBHS to our families, our communities, our States, our country, and our continent of Africa and indeed our world.

“We must impact with humility, honesty, integrity, wisdom, courage, competence and fear of God – these must continue to be our characteristics and our attributes to make a change for good wherever we are. We must be different,” Obasanjo said.

Lagos office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has debunked claim of colluding with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to manipulate the collection of permanent voter cards (PVCs) in the state.

The claim was made by the Peoples Democratic Congress (PDP) on Monday, January 16, during a press conference.


Reacting to the claim, Olusegun Agbaje, INEC’s resident electoral commissioner in Lagos said it’s all “fabricated”.

The statement read;

“It is pertinent to clarify and correct the frivolous accusation by PDP that some INEC staff are colluding with members of the ruling party in the state to deny some groups of people access to collect their PVCs.

“Mention was equally made of Mr Muyiwa Yusuf, the head of department VR/ICT INEC in the state who was alleged to have connived with the APC to clone the faces of voters through the privileged access he has to the PVCs.

“It has become necessary to comment on the recent report which far from being true, was a gross misrepresentation and diversionary both in content and context.

“It is obvious that this orchestrated story by PDP was fabricated to distort the reputation of INEC in the state and to soil the name of the officer in question.

“INEC has neither political affiliation nor inclination with any party in the state. Collection of PVC is based on a first-come, first-served.”


Agbaje who maintained that eligible Nigerians have not been denied their rights to collect the PVCs in all the 20 LGAs of the state, added that INEC’s bimodal voter accreditation system (BVAS) would not authenticate any cloned PVCs on election day.

He said;

“The exercise being embarked upon in the commission at the moment is the scanning of PVCs to harvest phone numbers of eligible registrants yet to collect their cards with a view to contacting them via bulk sms,” the statement reads.

“The commission strongly believes in equity, transparency, integrity, and fairness in the conduct of her business.

“We shall continue to uphold these fundamental principles in the discharge of our constitutional duties and responsibilities as an unbiased umpire to all stakeholders.”

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has opened up about his experience with EFCC officials many years ago.
The respected Christian preacher claims that when he purchased a private plane some time ago, agents of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency started to investigate him.

Adeboye said he went to God for direction when the EFCC men were dispatched to question him about the recent situation while preaching at the Redemption City’s “Wonderful” Holy Ghost Service on Friday through Saturday morning.


When he was given the opportunity to possess a plane, according to Adeboye, there was a lot of uproar and criticism of him coming from all directions.

“They sent EFCC to come and probe me, “Where did he get the money to buy a jet?” etc. The noise was much. Then one day, I was flying because I didn’t buy a jet for pleasure; the work has expanded to the level that there is no way I can do it by commercial travelling,” Adeboye said.

Sharing his travel experience and how a private jet became a necessity to his ministry, Pastor Adeboye said: “If you want to travel by commercial, you have to wait for their timetable. If I have to wait for their timetable, I won’t be able to do what God wants me to do. Now I’m the top marketing director of a major company with my own personal businesses while I do modeling on the side. I’m generating over six figures a year with no support from anyone; so I’m doing very well for myself. My late mom would have been so proud of me. My dad owned the most successful transportation business in Nigeria back in the day, he brought his whole family to America where we were all born and raised living very comfortably in Los Angeles.
He’s in his late sixties now; healthy and strong so if he does Uber as a side hustle in the same transportation industry he knows. I don’t see how honest work is something to be laughed at by Alexx’s family. It says a lot about them, trying to discredit me as I choose not to share family secrets about Alexx that’ is a bit messy. As for the $500 a month from Alexx? For 12 months out of 5 years altogether he provided that to me, I didn’t even need it. I just wanted to finally feel provided for by him. STELLA – Do you have proof of all these? like if you are challenged to bring forth evidence, do you have anything?

FANCY -I have proof of everything. That is why I’m speaking up with confidence. I wouldn’t speak without receipts, that would be careless. But I don’t think receipts are needed to be revealed unless there’s a defamation situation and defense is needed to be presented. I also know my family and friends are very upset with what Alex has put me through. They’re also disappointed in me and I understand: This is emotional abuse so they are sympathetic. they feel the need to share and encourage me to speak up and defend myself. I’m not used to talking too much and that’s why people think I’m talking a lot now. It’s because it’s the first time I’m finally using my voice, I’ve never been truly heard.

STELLA -Why did you even reconsider reconciling if he was so bad to you?

FANCY – Stella, that’s a question many people want to know and I have asked myself that too. With therapy and guidance I now realize It was just a trauma bond, with all of the control he had over me, the silencing my voice, and withholding affection, it made me long for the pot of gold at the end of the tunnel with him but at the end of the day it was just a mirage, nothing was real. Everything was fake. We had history together and, I wasn’t strong enough to let go, he wanted me back badly too but this whole thing was toxic. I’m very grateful to God that I’m free and I can now be myself again.

STELLA – Did he break up with you after you made the second apology post? and why did you make that apology post in the first place? why?

[b]FANCY -No, we were never back together so he didn’t break up with me. I did it to help him, my empathy is so high when someone is hurting ; even if they hurt me I want to fix it. He knows this about me and took advantage. I left him again because we agreed to do the post. We wrote it together and verified with his family. We were working on this for months. It was taking long because I was hesitant and didn’t want to do it. He kept trying to convince me that it would be the only way we can come out to the public and or even be seen as friends publicly. If we were going to reconcile, I believed privately would have been the best, especially because I already made a public apology last August and we were finally becoming friends again.

I was not begging, it was mutual on both sides. I admit to reaching out more to him because his ego was bruised by me so I felt the need to comfort him. On a Friday he expressed he was feeling sick, so i decided to surprise him in Lagos.
We went to the hospital and i nursed him, we hung out and worked on this apology statement together. I kept trying to convince him that if I go public it might make things worse but he yelled, he begged, he pressured, and reassured me it’ll be fine and I trusted him instead of trusting myself ,now we’re in this public mess.

This apology post was a revenge plot by Alexx and I was too naive to see it. Alexx and his family know I’m a nice girl and he tried to take advantage of me because he thought I would never speak up and stand up for myself. This has been a devastating situation for me.

He went as far as telling me to leave the comments on and not put my location as Nigeria, he knew exactly what he was doing at that moment. His revenge plan was about to happen and I couldn’t see it. why? Cus in these moments he was telling how much he loved me and how he needed this apology post so we can move forward but deep down, he wanted me to feel the pain of being trolled and bullied. He wanted revenge on me for leaving him publicly. It was an ego fix. Once i clicked the share button, the scales fell off my eyes on what he was up to….
He changed in an instant. God spoke to me in that moment and asked me to test him by calling on him to see if he would protect me publicly from the brutal trolling i was receiving for throwing myself under the bus for him. Alexx said ”no, welcome to the club Fancy”. He said ”you should feel the pain I went through when you left me”. I asked again please are you going to at least acknowledge the post and he asked me what i wanted him to say and I kept quiet…

As I took the heat and trolls, which was something I’m not used too or felt I deserved, he started posting about his grandmas funeral, she passed away early April 2022, God rest her soul and was buried about 2 weeks before my post. Instead of Acknowledging me, he decided to post her burial and pretend he had no clue what’ was going on with me.

It reminded me of my August apology statement when I apologized the first time, the next day he conveniently posted the new apartment he moved into to make me look irrelevant and desperate for his accomplishments. It surprises me that I know the realities of his life and he continuously disrespected me because I’m a calm person.
I finally started to see the signs and patterns. As he was begging me behind close doors to reconcile because he felt he was getting old and wanted kids. He wanted me to appear publicly as a desperate person who wanted him back. It was all a game.

That was the answer I needed. I ended things with him again, and told him goodbye. He called me several times in fear as I caught him in something he knows about but I ignored him, I blocked him and I am not looking back.

He later on commented on my post which I didn’t even see until it hit the blogs.
It was a comment as if he didn’t write up the apology himself, he even chose the picture for me to post with that apology. That moment for me, the trauma bond was broken. Control was gone and I finally saw Alexx for who he really was. He is Evil, vindictive, revengeful and bored-line sociopathic. Of course we had good moments, it wasn’t all bad and He might not be like that to everyone but for me this was my experience and reality I want everyone to please note that I never in my life publicly called Alexx g#y. I would never out someone if they were; it’s not my place. My statement was everyone should find their happiness and live in their truth, i did not say his truth. That short and bold statement covered everything the lie that my relationship with him was the whole time. With my story you can decide whatever you want to believe about him or me.

My receipts are allowing me to speak and no longer be meek. I’m not trying to tarnish his image, I’m only speaking my truth because he wanted this public apology to trend and hurt me without telling the world the full story behind the scenes. What he did was cruel. I feel he owes me a series of apologies now but i doubt I’ll get that but unlike him I won’t pressure. This year it’s about loving myself, repairing my self esteem, being strong and moving forward.

The Commander of Ebubeagu Security Network in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Kalu Chima, has narrated how gunmen shot dead his seven-month-pregnant wife, Urenma and their two children.

Recall that gunmen invaded Chima’s house in Amaoso, Amaetiti, Amaoso Edda in the LGA on New Year's Day and killed Urenma.

The assailants also burnt his two houses during the attack.

Speaking to The Nation in Abakaliki on Wednesday, Chima said that the attack was an offshoot of the recent clashes between supporters of two political heavyweights in Ekoli Edda, in the same local government.

"On 1st January, 2023, I was sleeping in my bed with my wife and my two kids when I heard a gunshot in front of my house which woke me up immediately," he explained.

“I walked to the window and opened the curtain and saw men with Ak-47 riffles numbering about 19 and I know them all.

"One of them, who is the coordinator of one of the development centres in our local government, was positioning them, ordering them to cordon off my house. Some of them hit my door twice. I told my wife let’s run away.

"Because of my wife’s pregnancy, she couldn’t run. When the door was hit the third time, I left my wife and my children in the backyard. I jumped the fence and landed on where villagers throw waste.

"I laid there and heard the last gunshot and my wife shouted and couldn’t talk again. They poured fuel on my two houses and set them on fire.

"I called my PA to go and see what was happening in my house. When he got there, they had finished everything they were doing and he saw the dead body of my wife and my two kids there.

"I called one of my neighbours who assisted me because I was no longer in order and they came and assisted in carrying my wife’s dead body to the mortuary and deposited it.

"As I am talking to you, the coordinator of one of the development centres in the local government who led the group has been arrested. He is in the crack office of the state police command in Abakaliki here.

"Others are on the run but the police are seriously looking for a way to arrest them. These group of people went and burnt the State APC Chairman’s House and killed his brother. Unfortunately, police shot one of them in the leg that day they perpetrated the act.

"He ran to Ohafia in Abia State with the bullet. He was finding a way to remove the bullet and he couldn’t see it. The doctor there told him to get a police report before he can remove the bullet and he doesn’t have any way to get the police report.


"He called one of them that followed them and attacked my house and told him that he should beg me as a Commander of Ebubeagu to meet DPO to give him a police report for him to use so that doctor can remove the bullet from him. I met the Assistant Commissioner of Police and reported it to him."

Mrs Tofunmi Akamo, Principal of Federal Government College, Ijaniki, Lagos State, has denied allegations of covering up some students caught absconding from school to lodge female classmates in a hotel for sex romps.

Akamo who spoke to Punch, said the six students were picked up from the hotel by the school, adding that the incident happened once.

According to the principal, the school management noticed the absence of the students during an urgent roll call at the hostel.



She said;


“Our assignment is to mould them and we don’t expect all of them to behave well all the time. So, when they misbehave, it is our duty to do the necessary correction.

“I was called from the school that they did a roll call on Sunday and some students were discovered not to be in the hostel.

“So, that Monday morning, they called their parents to confirm if they were at home and the parents said they were not at home. The parents came to the school; we were all searching and investigating what could have happened.

“One of the parents of those girls told us that the girls went to the hotel, jumping the fence on Sunday. We went to the hotel to evacuate them. They were five that were evacuated; two boys and three girls.

“When they came to the school, we asked them to write reports; it was through the report that we even discovered that there was another girl who left on Monday to come back to school, while others still remained in the hotel.

“We made them write their reports and they faced a disciplinary committee, which gave a verdict on what to be done to them according to the guidelines given to us from the ministry.

“The children are currently on indefinite suspension; that is the guideline recommended for them. We normally involve their parents and hand such letters and their children to them. The girls and the boys are no longer in the dormitories. That is the only incident that happened and it happened two or three weeks before we vacated this last term.”



Akamo added that claims of the students being drug abusers are unfounded. She said;



“Late last session when they were writing an external examination, we discovered that some boys were not in the hostel during roll check and we learnt that they normally went to a nightclub around our school.

“My chief security officer went there around 9pm and at that time they had not arrived at the club. So, the owner of the club collected the number of my CSO so that he would inform him.

“By 11pm, they called my CSO and by 1am we brought about 10 of them back to school. One of them was my assistant head boy and immediately, we had an assembly; I brought all of them out and de-badged the prefects among them.

“I also asked them to leave the dormitories; but they could be coming to sit their external examinations, which they were writing at that time. I told them they could no longer stay in the hostel.

“There is no history of anybody getting pregnant as a student. We knew one of the girls had one million naira in her account. I am sure this child has been showing all of these things at home. It cannot be that it was inside the school that she learnt how to go and make money from sex.

“The only time we had an issue of a pregnancy in the school was a blind girl. The lady got pregnant during COVID-19 at a place she used to go to play with people. After we did a test and we discovered she was pregnant, we invited the father and she left the school. I told her that she could not stay in the school because we are training young girls and not mothers-to-be.

“The claim by the PTA chairman that one of the students impregnated another student is not true. There is nothing like that; I am not aware and if that happens I will know.”

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has explained why he cannot support or campaign for any presidential candidate out of the four frontrunners for the seat of presidency.

Ngige revealed his reason on Tuesday at his hometown in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, while distributing gifts by his foundation to people in the area.

Ngige, an All Progressives Party member, said all four presidential candidates are his friends having worked with them at one point or the other, therefore he would not be able to pick any among them to support.

The minister described Peter Obi of the Labour Party as his brother, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the APC and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, as his good friends.

He therefore urged Nigerians to vote for the right candidate who would be able to work for them after a critical evaluation of their manifestos and antecedents.

He said, “The four frontrunners are good candidates with cognate experience in governance at the federal and state levels.

“They are my friends and they are well known to me. They have worked with me in one way or the other before now.

“Peter Obi of Labour Party is my brother, his local government is next to mine here my successor and everything. I know him too well. I know his capacity.

“Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party was at the helm of affairs in the country when I was kidnapped as a sitting governor.
