Omoyele Sowore, the party’s presidential candidate, has been dumped by the African Action Congress (AAC) chapter in Enugu State.
The statement was made by the party on Wednesday in Enugu during a news conference.

Kene Ogbodo, the AAC’s candidate for governor of Enugu, told reporters that the party has endorsed Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s nominee for president in the 2023 election.

He asserted that Sowore, who is both the party chairman and the presidential candidate, had demonstrated himself to be an undemocratic and had thus prevented prospects for inclusivity.

Ogbodo said, “Obi might not have the full answer but he can actually start healing the wounds of the country.

“He is a man that has changed the political landscape in Nigeria, dismantled APC and PDP.

“Members of Action Congress here in Enugu hereby endorse Peter Obi instead of our presidential candidate, Sowore who has no pathway to the presidency. We have dumped his aspiration

“Sowore stands for one man band, he is inexperienced, he should continue with his activism.”

He announced that they would go all out to campaign for Obi in the remaining few hours.

“We make sure that undecided voters will come out to support him.

“We have nothing to do with Atiku and we are not supporting Tinubu.

“I am still in the governorship race, so we have nothing to do with LP in the State, but we are supporting Peter Gregory Obi for President,” he declared.

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Command, responded to a woman who body-shamed Usman Alkali Baba, the inspector general of police.

This comes after the spokespersons published images of the IGP leading top officers to a range practice in Abuja on Saturday via the microblogging service Twitter.

Reacting to the post, a lady simply identified as Wendy wrote: ”Who be this one wey fat like corruption? See stomach see Yansh.”

Replying to the lady, Adejobi wrote: “You need to pray so that you be like him or anyone you are close to, be fulfilled like him. A blessing to his generation and many in Nigeria. Now you look at him and make such a comment. I pray that when you grow to his age and status, you will be able to bend.”

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Jide Sanwo-Olu has sympathized with the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Lagos, Ms Funke Akindele over the death of her beloved mother, Dr. RB Adebanjo-Akindele.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile on Tuesday said it is often hard to find the right words at a time like this for someone who has lost a beloved person, noting that losing mothers is one of the deepest sorrows for man.

The Governor prayed for peace, comfort, courage and love for Funke, his immediate siblings, the Adebanjo and Akindele families as they go through a most difficult period of mourning of the dead.

He said: “My heart goes out to Funke, friends of the Adebanjo and Akindele families on the demise of their daughter, mother and grandmother, Dr. RB Adebanjo-Akindele who answered the ultimate call today, Tuesday 7th of February, 2023.

“Death of loved ones, whenever it happens, is usually a very painful episode but we must be consoled by the good life lived by the deceased person. We should relish in the beautiful memories the dead left behind for us.

The Governor urged the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, to be comforted by the good life that her late mother lived and continue to pray for the repose of Dr. RB Adebanjo-Akindele.

“On behalf of my family and the good people of Lagos State, I hereby express my heartfelt condolences to the entire families and friends of Adebanjo and Akindele.
 
May God grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and the families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Sharon Ogechi Okoroafor has hired a lawyer who will defend her after her reckless statement went viral on social media.

The lawyer who has appealed to the management of the institution, has said that their client never meant to defame the character,standard and integrity of the institution.

The statement reads:

We are solicitors to OKEREAFOR OGECHI SHARON (our Client under our Pro Bono (Free Legal Services) on whose behalf we write this memo to you.

We are aware that she will be facing the school disciplinary panel this morning and we wish to use this medium to express our confidence that the panel will carry out their duties in compliance with the principles of Fair hearing, Good conscience and Natural Justice devoid of harassment, intimidation and threats.

We have met and discussed with our Client and evidence before us shows that she has no intention to defame the character, standard and integrity of the institution. In her words what happened in the said viral video was a slip of tongue as a result of her uncontrollable ecstacy over her graduation. Her intended words were “God and Pupsy” (Not P*ssy) in appreciation of the almighty God and her Dad. It is clear therefore, that she had no intention whatsoever to use such a “fowl word” in the said viral video to cajole or blackmail the institution as no lecturer or name of the institution was mentioned or referred in the said viral video.
