During President Buhari's political campaigns in 2015, he talked about fighting corruption, he really emphasised on fighting corruption! Now elections have come and gone and he is doing what he said he was going to do. Why are people angry and against this fight against corruption? First, I'll use the family scenario to describe. Imagine a boy who is 16 years old (16 years of democracy) who has not been taught anything by his parents, no good morals and behaviour, discipline and self control suddenly finds himself staying with a disciplined uncle who wakes him up by 6am to prepare to go school, he comes back to attend to some house chores and doesn't eat as he likes as against a boy the mother will beg to get up by 7:30am and prepare for school and he always goes to school late and when he is back he goes out with firneds to play games all day without doing any house chore at home. I mean a boy who hasnt sweep the house in 16 years. Imagine how that boy will hate that uncle who is trying to reform him. Out of ignorance, the boy will despise him. Secondly, imagine someone who got his or her job through nepotism 16 years ago, this fellow was used to collecting bribes before he or she does his official duty. Is either you pay or oga, leave am nah. For 16 years, he was used to illegal funds everyday from the office which helped him or her buy a car, build a house in choice cities, open a business and suddenly a new boss comes in and there's no bribery, he or she is forcedmto attend to people speedily, all staff report to work early by 8am for the first time in 16 years. ![]() Thirdly, imagine a country where things were done wrongly for 16 years and all of a sudden, someone wants to correct the ills of the society. Do you think the people will accept it easily? The answer is No, hence the hatred on the President. I have always said it that most Nigerians lack discipline and self control. We lack good morals and sincerity. Most Nigerians do not know what it means to tell the truth and stand by it and this cuts across all regions and religions. The opposition President Buhari is getting is that for 16 years of democracy most Nigerians have lived a corrupt life and have benefitted immensely from corruption and they had thought that Nigeria will forever be like this but sadly things are changing and because things are changing these group of individuals because they are highly placed have taken to the media space to preach hate to the equally corrupt less privileged who do not know what's actually going on and the effect of corruption on them. Because of this, there is a transferred aggression of their situation on the President whom the corrupt highly placed individuals are thriving on for their support. Whoever is corrupt or was corrupt should be made to face the law devoid of tribal, ethinic, regional or religious sentiments. Corruption is killing us all. Imagine the list AMCON released of loans that companies owe. That is enough to cripple the economy and to even imagine that these monies were borrowed a decade ago gives credibility to my analysis. Nigeria we need a new moral compass, the churches and mosques have failed to give the societal a moral compass, oh how sad! Today a greater percentage wenr to church and now the Muslims are havingntheir fast, will it translate to the moicu needed new moral compass we seek in this country? That will be a discussion for another thread. |
papaejima1: PH una too like grooving small time now when money finish una go begin fight ![]() Enjoy your pleasure park ooo... ![]() From Peace park to Pleasure Park to leisure park.. okay now ![]() |
VERDA:I agree with you but I'll say maybe the only mistake the President did was to say it out. It's nothing new, even the governors do same without saying it. But people shouldn't act like they don't know these things after all what did Jonathan really do the region that supported him? And mind you in the family it is only an unwise child that will harbour hatred rather thancompete amongst the siblings for attention and reward, it is only the lazy ones will be jealousy and envious. Imagine as one is washing daddy's car the other is sweeping, daddy will be left with no choice than to compensate them both. Healthy competition helps even in business. |
papaejima1:Hmmmm... Not as easy as you think, people are robbed at airforce junction mind you. Does government really want to make money from parks? Hmm ![]() |
VERDA:The thing is people misunderstand the President's comments at times because of the deep hatred they have for him already. I'm sure you will want to refer to the percentage statement he made. Nigerians are the only people in the world I see that feel that their leaders do not have emotions. The President only expressed the fact that some people gave him more support than others and so he can't treat everyone the same although he has also shown that he doesn't despise people who didn't quite support him. Even in the family setting, a child who washes the fathers car, washes and irons his clothes will not be treated like the one who doesn't do those things in the house and its not as if the father will dislike him but he won't get certian things the hardworking child will get that's how we human are esle there's no place for reward then meaning everyone should get equal whether they did something or not! Don't forget there are other sources of power generation; coal, solar, hydro etc. But then I won't like to think like that but when the actions of these people get so annoying holding everyone to ransom then the FG will have to think differently. As for how long it will take, if we have good investors setting up solar farms in the north then Nigeria's electric problem will be close to finish. Things like this doesn't help the country, people are just bent on interpreting the President's comments to cause disaffection in the society. |
fireflies07:Don't mind her ![]() She just dey quote Bible wey she no understand ![]() |
elopee3000:Some governors like putting the horse before the cart, why spend money on a project people won't even have the freedom to access? The money for that park can be used to further strengthen the security in PH. People are robbed in taxis, on the streets and even in buses. Going to that park is exposing one's self to be a target. |
winningwinner:Infrastructure is a fat word! Oil and gas installations and pipelines, Power installations, Roads, Rails, Government buildings etc those are infrastructures and if they bomb oil and installations and pipelines, power installations is that not economic sabotage and take note these criminals have threaten to bomb Onitsha Asaba bridge, third mainland bridge etc which is not in the region they are crying about then I begin to wonder who these animals are? Should we take such people serious? How can someone destroy the country's infrastructure and yet still complain of the outcome of his action? That's madness! You need to drop all the sentiment let's call evil by its name. Major oil companies will not relocate to the volatile region get that. |
slimfit1:I tire ![]() These are the people crying about lack of development and instead of making PH safe first and trying to bring up modalities and policies that will see investors come into the state, he is busy with building amusement parks. It's a case of choosing leisure and entertainment above productivity. |
Millerz:Are you serious? Few days ago a girl was almost killed by robbers at Stadium road and her picture was on nairaland where she also narrated her ordeal. Other people too corroborated what she said. There's too much violence in Rivers State if you ask me. Investors are moving out on daily basis, you might not notice but what will help you notice is the developmental news of other states and the cult and kidnapping, bombing news of the region. For you to say PH is very very safe is funny! And seriously what do you know about the kingdom of heaven? At times people take the scriptures out of context, you got it all wrong! |
Building a pleasure park that will be over taken by cultist and kidnappers. Anyway, that's not my business but wait did I hear a major economic earner? ![]() Very funny! Port Harcourt that is not safe? Okay now, that place will be deserted by 4pm. |
Niger Delta Avengers cannot sabotage the country and still complain of underdevelopment! And people supporting them unintelligent and ignorant who do not know the consequences of their actions or they know but because they hate President Buhari so much they seem not to care. What a foolish way to think! For those of you blaming Fashola I bet you, even if you are made the minister for power today there's nothing you can do so stop hiding behind the keyboard to sound important. Some people who complain about others don't achieve much themselves. If I were the FG I will locate the nation's power infrastructure away from the region until they begin to be responsible. You cannot cry of underdevelopment and yet the few nation's infrastructure in your region are being bombed and destroyed! It's madness! |
truefact:I can see you are a mediocre that depends on tribal, ethnic and religious sentiment to succeed! Chief of Naval Staff and Chief of Defence staff are from the south stop spreading lies. Besides in the last adminstration most of the service chiefs were from the south; from Ihejirika to Minimah, yet nobody complained. Keep wailing sha... ![]() |
fckmn24seg:Don't mind the bigot and ipob! Always looking for ways to cause disaffection in the country! If I can sleep with my two eyes closed I do not care where the security chiefs come from. We should stop unnecessary ethnic sentiment and let the job be done properly! When Arase was there, there wasn't any issue, because he has been succeeded by Idris then the Ipob has realised that other service chiefs are from the North. |
BestySam:You got me laughing and laughing and laughing ![]() Kai, you don finish South Africa ![]() |
Dickson is a coward! He should pay workers salaries and stop all these drama ![]() |
Lies and Propaganda! ![]() |
Yes, make it tough than they won't be able to meet so they can retire and receive their life sentence to jail with a life pension too... ![]() And to the youth crying with hunt I really pity you! When are still hustle when one man will be paid salary till death while enjoying immunity from prosecution. Your lack of reasoning needs a certificate to be awarded to you guys for Irrationality, Ignorance and Foolishness! How can you support a man mortgaging your futurebecause of the same political, ethinic, tribal, and religious affiliation? Be wise and leave sentiment alone! |
I have always said it that Niger Delta will be a war zone worst than South Sudan if they secede from Nigeria. Imagine common Ijaw Youth Council cannot conduct an election or selection to have their leaders. Is this the calibre of people that will dialogue with the President on issues concerning the Niger Delta? it's a pity!Is this the same people that will conduct an election in a country they wish to have? The Niger Delta people have not been progressive people that's why even with the oil in the region because of the greed and selfishness of the people, they cannot even benefit from the resources because of the winner takes all mentality. Since blame is a lazy man's game they choose to blame the FG for their woes and don't be surprised that people will still blame President Buhari for this. Bayelsa State governor had one time said that 'Bayelsa people are very lazy, and I'll like to extend it to the whole Niger Delta, politics is like an industry in the region because one doesn't need to do much to gain billions hence the fight! I pity those supporting the Niger Delta Avengers, you think they are fighting for you but you'll be shocked when the chickens finally come to roast, that's the same mentality then in South Sudan but today they realise that Sudan wasn't the enemy. It's too late. Be wise! |
Ovamboland:Good point! |

Cyph98:Good question |
xxgig:Thanks |
Liberty90:You are so ignorant i can't help it but laugh ![]() You need help seriously ![]() |
Funny enough most Nigerian youths don't know that Buhari the hate so much is not their problem |
blackpanda:Exactly! You'll see how the youths who are suffering due to these actions of these senators will come out to support them even when they have and gain nothing in doing so. Immunity to steal and not being persecuted, that means living above the law? That's barbaric and wicked! |
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has criticized Akpabio’s call for a proposed life pension and immunity from prosecution for Bukola Saraki, the Senate President, and other presiding officers of the National Assembly. In a statement Sunday, Mr. Falana described Akpabio’s proposal as insensitive, irrational, and immoral. “Indeed, it is the height of insensitivity for legislators to propose life pension for their leaders at a time that workers are owed arrears of salaries in many states of the federation,” said Mr. Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. The lawmakers, at the end of a two-day retreat on constitution review on Saturday, took the decision to shield its presiding officers, as well as those of state Houses of Assemblies, from prosecution. They argued that since the other two arms of government – executive and judiciary – are enjoying immunity, the third arm ought to follow suit. Mr. Saraki is currently facing prosecution for forgery and false and anticipatory assets declaration, while Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy, is being tried for forgery. The proposal came amidst allegations of sexual misconduct against three Nigerian lawmakers by the United States government during the lawmakers’ visit to Cleveland for the International Visitor Leadership Programme. Mohammed Gololo (APC, Bauchi) was accused of grabbing a hotel maid and soliciting sex, while Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa-Ibom) and Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue) allegedly requested a car park attendant to help them secure the services of prostitutes. Mr. Falana said the lawmakers’ proposal to shield their presiding officers from prosecution is “provocative.” “No serious nation can grant immunity to legislators who have been linked with criminal diversion of public funds, forgery and rape,” he said. “We can assure the concerned members of the public that the satanic proposals of the legislators will not succeed. “It is pertinent to inform the legislators that the members of the human rights community have resolved to mobilize the Nigerian people to reject both proposals. http://www.thekillerpunch.com/efccs-freezing-fayoses-account-akpabio-withdraws-17-4billion-zenith-stanbic-gtb-accounts/ |

Most Nigerians are too lazy to comprehend what you just said! A lot of Nigerians are suffering from a mental disorder such that they can't even realise that the country is changing for the better. I don't blame them, take a pig, give it a good bath and put the pig in a neat sitting room, before you know it, the pig will be back in the mud. Nigerians are used to suffering such that even when someone tries to help they still cannot believe. I help people at times and they get shocked and I emphasise, I don't need anything in return and they reply 'are you sure'? That's the Nigerian mentality. |
rose54321:if you do same then it means it's a stolen money period! Is Dangote afraid? Is Tony Elumelu afraid? Is Otedola afraid? You guys just lack reasoning! |
ollymoore:Thank you sir for that point! Akpabio doesn't have a single industry meaning he is not employing anyone and iI can bet you those supporting him are still looking for jobs and happy that he has billions without providing jobs for them. Ignorant youths |
