Opinedecandid: There's no how I can communicate with you. We operate on different levels; while I choose the part of a progressive, you have chosen a retrogressive mindset by thinking that Akpabio has done well when there is NO standard education, health care, electricity, water supply etc which are the very basics in any progressing society. One thing is that you do not know what it should be, that's the problem and that's why you will celebrate anything that looks like development which doesn't have any meaningful impact to a market woman. Please I need answers to my question to take you serious and maybe probably 'intelligent' else your guess is as good as mine. |

Politics / Akpabio, PDP Used Private Army To Steal Votes, Umana Alerts Buhari by thomasthomas: 6:08am On May 14, 2015 |
Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the April 11 election, Mr. Umana Umana, has reiterated that all the violence and electoral malpractices during the general elections in Akwa Ibom State were perpetrated by a private army, as organised by Governor Godswill Akpabio and the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Umana said this when he led a delegation of the APC caucus in the state to meet with the President-elect, Mr. Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday. The delegation also included a former governor of the state, Mr. Victor Attah, former deputy governor, Mr. Nsima Ekere, former Minister of Petroleum, Mr. Don Etiebet, a serving senator, Mr. Ita Enang, Mr. Dan Akpan of the House of Representatives and other chieftains of the party. Regretting that the last elections in the state were marred by irregularities, a situation which, he said, led to loss of lives and large-scale harassment of residents of the state, Umana also told Buhari that when his supporters got wind of the formation of a private army many months before the elections, an alarm was raised and petitioned sent to the appropriate authorities, but no action was taken “dismantle the machine of death and destruction put in place by the state governor”. According to Umana, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) connived with the state government, security agents and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to rob APC of victory in the presidential, governorship, National and state Assembly polls. Umana said: “The people had hoped that there would be free and fair elections in Akwa Ibom State for them to vote and bring in APC government at both the state and federal levels, so that the lot of the people of the state would change for the better. “However, it is a matter for regret and a point of great frustration that our votes for you in Akwa Ibom State were not allowed to count during the Presidential Election because of massive vote fraud and wanton violence. “Your Excellency, we would like to report that the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections held in the state on April 11 2015 witnessed even worse degrees of electoral fraud and violence, leading to many deaths and injuries. Responding, Buhari urged Umana to challenge the alleged rigging of the election at the tribunal. Buhari, however, admonished Umana to follow due process and stay away from unconstitutional acts in the pursuit of his case. Insisting that the truth could not be covered, Buhari said his government would focus on fighting corruption, generation of employment and restoration of security in the country. Buhari said, ” l am glad that you have gone to court too because you believe in the system as the right place to fight for your right and the right of the people you represent. “I have appealed three times and arrived at the Supreme Court not because I believe the system had changed, but this time around, in your own case, you were still denied even with the use of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and the card readers, that means they will never stop lies because the essence of the system itself is to protect the interests of the parties, the candidates, whether it is the local government elections, House of Assembly, governorship, House of Representatives, Senate etc, there is need to go to the constituency, educate them, beg for their support and understanding. “Let them know the real essence according to law to choose who they want to choose otherwise we are wasting our time. I stand for that. So, the point I want to make here is that the problem of Nigeria is not ethnic or religious, it is corruption. “This is what we are fighting, that is why corruption is number three in my campaign. The first one is security, the North-East, the Delta area where people are kidnapped and ransom are being demanded, which people cannot afford. The second one is unemployment; 60 per cent of Nigerians are youths, most of them, whether they went to school or not, are unemployed and that is dangerous. “So, we have to get the issue of the economy right to make sure the jobs are made available and we should try to kill corruption before corruption kills Nigeria. Let us practise what we preach as well. Who ever wins as a governor too has a lot of work to do, because corruption is fast becoming a culture.” He cautioned against engaging in acts that would lead to loss of lives, promising to always stand with the people irrespective of their tribes. http://propellerng.com/akpabio-pdp-used-private-army-to-steal-votes-umana-alerts-buhari/

Opinedecandid: So in the whole world, you have just one Thomas Thomas? What if it's an adopted name. You are just as lazy and clueless like you leader. You have nothing to offer seriously because you are a lazy fellow who feeds from the crumbs of your master. I thought you where going to take me on a factual intelligent discussion but because you are empty, you have decided to chicken out! That is good so I won't waste my intellectual energy on a lazy, clueless and unintelligent fellow like you. Cheers

Opinedecandid: You still have not answered my questions which are simple and straight forward. You talked about government privatizing hotels and cinema like seriously? How many jobs can those places create and to what benefit are there to the society at large apart from the politicians. For your information, the government subsidizes and is still subsiding movie tickets? That's to tell you that people cannot afford movie tickets to see a movie. Quite ironic isn't it? Why has government chosen to build hotels and cinema rather than factories that will produce goods and provide services for the people. Please kindly inform me where the schools, (I don't mean renovation, but establishment of schools where there wasn't any) are located, where is your modern market? Akwa Ibom has 31 LGAs, so kindly inform me where those schools, 'modern markets, hospitals (not the specialist hospital because no patient has been treated there for eight years), pls just tell me their locations. You are the one who doesn't have facts, you are just throwing tantrums like you mentor with nothing to point at. Do you even know what infrastructure means because you didn't even talk about water supply which doesn't exist in the state! Lol... You are a product of the dubious school of 'uncommon transformation'. Another question, how many jobs has Akpabio created directly as a government or in partnership with the private sector? Get your facts right! |

Opinedecandid:Yes, we are no mates! Some people when trying to look smart at the end of the day expose their lack of knowledge. I address issues but I always feel bad when people like you misinform the public. There is nothing there to hate, Akpabio is failed leader, he did not revamp any of the industries a governor like him built and he hasn't provided the necessary infrastructure for private individuals to invest. While you want to educate me on the reasons why 'Government has no business doing business', what infrastructure has this government put in place to enable private sector investment? Please list just seven (7). When the government and people like you say the state is ready for investors you just wonder. These investors; 1. Which schools will their children attend? 2. Which hospitals will they go for medical treatment? 3. Which market will they go for shopping for foodstuffs? Itam market or Akpan Andem market lol... 4. Which mode of transport will they move around with? Keke... 5. Who will guarantee their security before they get kidnapped for ransom? If I may also ask you these simple questions, 1. What business does government have doing cinema business? 2. What business does government have building a playground at Tropicana. Should the idea of Tropicana be a government business? 3. What business does the government have building hotels (two huge hotels). Why is the government in hospitality business? So if you say government has no business doing business, what do you call those I just mentioned? There's nothing global about you, you are just a local champion! Stop misinforming the public, the government can revamp those industries and privatize it and own shares. Simple! 1 Like |

Opinedecandid:When I read comments from people like you I see why Akwa Ibom will never grow beyond road construction and painting of primary schools. You said 'government does not have any business doing business', please let me ask, 'why did Akpabio build Cinema in Uyo and for what purpose? The five star 15 storey hotel in Uyo and 3 star 12 storey hotel in Ikot Ekpene is for what? Are those not government businesses? You talked about government recouping monies invested in a company in 5 - 10years, now let me ask you, 'how many years will it take the government to recoup the money invested in the 'first in Africa' stadium that nobody knows the contract sum. At times we want to bamboozle others with talk. If Akpabio invested the same amount of money he invested in the stadium, tropicana and those hotels to revamp those ailing industries Akwa Ibom youths would have been gainfully employed. For your information, Akwa Ibom is one of the worst hit states with unemployment, go check out the facts but ironically, it receives the highest allocation in the country. Akpabio's achievement is just media hype, with over one trillion naira in eight years, you have just few dualised roads, few primary school renovation, and few urban roads, yet you say he has done excellently well. The problem I have with people like you is that you do not know how to quantify money. If I may ask, do you know what 500million or 1bn can do in terms of infrastructure? Kindly publish his budget from 2007 - 2015, lets do a thorough check with what is on ground. I'm not a fan of a cluesless, greedy, trickster and election rigger. You can make him your role model! 1 Like |

Politics / Akwa Ibom Schools Shut As Akpabio Owes Teachers Salary by thomasthomas: 9:41am On Jan 21, 2015 |
School has resumed and pupils and students of schools in Akwa Ibom State are still sitting at home, all thanks to the uncommon transformation agenda of Godswill Akpabio in providing "free and compulsory education" to the citizens with no teachers. Teachers in public primary and secondary schools are on strike due to months of unpaid salaries and salary review. Akwa Ibom earns the highest allocation from the federation account and the civil servants in the state are grossly underpaid compared to their counterparts. Akpabio's cousin who is the State Universal Education board chairman also uses the allocation meant for UBE in the state for his own personal and family affairs. Currently, Akpabio is gallivanting the State with his successor who he wishes to impose on the State while schools remain under lock and key. His children are receiving the best of education while other people's children are sitting at home. What an evil! -thomasthomas 1 Like |

Odutodaiwa:Western countries want docile African leaders like Jonathan where they can continue their exploitation. They supported Campoare to oust Sankara in Burkina Faso because Thomas Sankara took the country on the path of greatness. Rail liñes and other infrastructure started by Sankara stopped since 1985 that he was pushed out of power. I'm happy the Burkina Faso citizens chased Campoare out of government. We need to take back Nigeria, the richest country in Africa in all ramifications. 1 Like |

Please I enjoin every nigerian to please pray for Mr Buhari and Nigeria come 2015. I am saying this because there are a lot of forces both nationally and internationally that are against his emergence as the president of Nigeria because these forces know that the era of misappropriation, injustice, corruption and ineptitude is over. Immediately after his emergence as the flag bearer of APC some funny BBC and CNN commentators came up with their write up condemning Mr Buhari meaning they will not like to see him too as the President which will also meaning game over for the American and British exploitation of the country under Mr Jonathan who runs helplessly to these countries to plead for help on how to preside over the affairs of the country. These countries do not want to see Nigeria prosper because of what they gain and they will do everything possible to impoverish the people using corrupt, wicked and inept leaders. Please pray and get your PVCs ready we are going to take back our country Nigeria! -thomasthomas 4 Likes |

Akpabio is fraudster! PDP primaries in Akwa Ibom was rigged for Udom using illegitimate delegates with the support of the presidency. Meanwhile, INEC in Akwa Ibom has refused giving out PVCs to voters so that PDP can rig the election with it! There are a lot of PVCs at INEC office and when voters go to collect it, they are told to come back every time that the person giving the PVC is not around. What a corrupt and wicked government! |
