CrimeSON Destroys Substandard Goods Worth N7m In Bauchi by Thonyboy(op): 6:18pm On Oct 09, 2023
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) on Monday said it had destroyed expired and substandard goods worth N7 million in Bauchi State.

SON Zonal Director, Northeast Zone, Adamu Abba, said during the exercise in Bauchi that destroying the expired and substandard goods was to ensure that only quality goods were sold to citizens.

He said the exercise was in collaboration with the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that all the food and non-food items seized were destroyed in the most environmentally friendly way.

“This is to protect the lives and property of citizens as well as to save the environment.

“The products destroyed include beverages, cosmetics, mayonnaise, peak milk, and agrochemicals, among others,” he said.

The zonal director reiterated that the fight against substandard products was a collective responsibility of all.

He appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious substandard product in the market to the office of SON.

Abba commended traders and artisans associations for their cooperation as they voluntarily reported most of the expired products to the organisation for proper action.

Also speaking, the state coordinator of the organisation, Murtala Sa’ad, noted that the feat was achieved as a result of the commitment and expertise exhibited by his personnel through their weekly market survey.

“This resulted in the seizure of the expired, substandard and unbranded products from various shops in Bauchi,” he said.

He warned traders to desist from sharp practices, saying the organisation would not relent in hunting defaulters and ensuring that they faced the full wrath of the law.

Sa’ad advised members of the public to always check for expiry dates of products before using them to safeguard their health.

Business‘Supply Of Petrol To Border Communities Returns In Few Days’ – Customs CG by Thonyboy(op): 6:51am On Oct 09, 2023
The acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has assured residents of border communities that efforts are ongoing to resume the supply of petroleum products in their areas soon.

.ng recalls that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in 2019 banned the supply of petroleum products to border communities.

An order from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) stopped filling stations within 20 km from the borders from receiving or dispensing fuel.

The directive was carried out under Operation Swift Response, which supervised the land border closure of the Buhari administration, purposely to stop the illegal bunkering of the then-subsidised fuel to neighbouring countries.

Since 2019, people living in border areas have been subjected to hardship as they travel 20 km to get fuel for their generators, especially in the face of erratic power supply.

With the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, border communities have been crying for a review of the Buhari policy.

According to them, the ban on fuel supply in border communities is no longer justified because the government no longer subsidises petrol.

During his recent visit to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the acting Comptroller General of Customs told newsmen the policy might be reviewed in a matter of a few days.

Adebiyi told newsmen: “On fuel supply in border communities, we are actively monitoring the situation. If you remember, there was a resolution by the Senate about two or three weeks ago expressing the same concern. We also have a shared understanding about this.

“We have made our position known to the National Security Adviser and we are hoping that in the next few days, there might be a review of this policy.”

CrimeNSCDC Detain 8 Officers For Assaulting Man Accused Of Stealing Manhood In Abuja by Thonyboy(op): 5:34pm On Oct 08, 2023
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has disclosed that it has detained eight officers for assaulting a man accused of stealing manhood of two people in Abuja.

Director of Public Relations of NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, made this declaration while speaking with newsmen on Sunday.

.ng reports that a man accused of stealing manhood of two people was seen in a video being assaulted and beaten by some NSCDC officials.

The incident occurred at NSCDC headquarters, located in the Sauka area in Abuja.

In the video, the man was seen being slapped several times and hit with sticks and hard objects by the NSCDC officials.

The man’s face was swollen, and blood was gushing out during the incident.

Advocacy for Alleged Witches (AfWA) in its reaction, enjoined the Nigerian government to arrest and prosecute the officers who assaulted the man.

AfWA Director, Dr. Leo Igwe in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Saturday described the incident as a sad development.

Igwe in the statement insisted that the officers acted unprofessionally and against the law, adding that the erring officers did not make efforts to confirm the allegations against the suspect.

Igwe said, “Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers assaulted a man for allegedly stealing manhood of two other men at the national headquarters of the security organization in Sauka in Abuja. In a video that was circulated on social media, officers of the NSCDC could be seen beating and brutalizing this man commanding him to ‘return it’ (manhood).

“To this end, the Advocacy for Alleged Witches calls on the government to arrest and prosecute all NSCDC officers who assaulted this innocent man in the video. The government should ensure that these officers answer for their crimes. It was painful and heartbreaking to watch as officers hit, kicked, and maltreated a man they were trained and paid to protect and defend”.

Afolabi while speaking with newsmen, noted that all the 8 officers who were on duty when the incident occurred have been detained.

He added that all the officers are currently facing disciplinary action at the headquarters of the organisation.

He said, “It is a case of missing private part and it happened at Sauka and one of our officers was around when they were about to move him so as not to kill him. But, the mistake they made was that they put laws into their hands, they beat the guy in the premises instead of bringing him to the office for interrogation.

“We are on top of the matter sir and as I am talking to you, the 8 officers are already in detention and the commandant general has came up with a disciplinary committee to investigate the case and the 8 officers on duty then.

“At NSCDC, we are fully committed. You know that out of 30 eggs there will always be a bad one. As I am talking to you they are facing disciplinary action and we are still carrying out investigation on the matter”.

CrimeAlleged Manhood Disappearance: Panic Grips Residents Of Abuja, Other Cities by Thonyboy(op): 7:55am On Oct 08, 2023
There are growing concerns over the activities of some criminal elements who are reportedly on the prowl in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja and other states of the federation stealing male genital organs.

In recent times, there has been an increase in reported cases of disappearance of genital organs in some states in the North Central, particularly in Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna and the nation’s capital.

.ng reports that while it is yet unclear how the miscreants carry out such acts, residents of the FCT have, for over a month now, been living in fear following reported cases of ‘stealing’ of manhoods.

The ugly trend has led to the murder of some persons by irate youths who descended on suspects for allegedly causing the mysterious disappearance of manhoods.

There are different accounts of how the heinous crime is being perpetrated in the city. While some said a mere conversation with the alleged manhood thief can cause disappearance of the victim’s penis, others said it happens after a physical contact, including handshake.

.ng recalls that on August 23, the Nasarawa State Police Command, while cautioning residents against jungle justice being meted out to the alleged organ thieves in the state, revealed that some persons were attacked over same allegations in Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia and Keffi Local Government Areas of the state.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, however, said a medical examination conducted on the alleged victims, “gave all of them a clean bill of health”, saying there was no basis for the allegations.

On September 20, some irate youths in phase 2, Gwagwalada area of the FCT, lynched a yet-to-be-identified young man for allegedly stealing a resident’s manhood.

Three days after the incident, another resident, Lucky Josiah was accused of causing the disappearance of one Rokeeb Saheed’s manhood.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, while confirming the ugly development, told .ng that officers of the command quickly responded to a distress call that a victim was being lynched.

Unlike the Gwagwalada incident, Lucky was saved by the police operatives from being killed by the angry mob.

The PPRO revealed that after medical examinations were conducted on Saheed, his male organ was “confirmed to be fine, and Lucky’s injuries were treated”.

Residents of the city have continued to record similar incidents almost on a daily basis in both the city centre and satellite towns.

On Friday, a disturbing motion picture which captured an alleged manhood thief being subjected to torture and dehumanization by mob, including some security operatives surfaced online.

In the video, the alleged thief who was accused of stealing two manhoods, was heard saying he is innocent of the allegations.

False alarm

There are indications that some of the allegations by the victims of manhood theft are false and may have sinister motives.

A security operative in the FCT, who does not want to be mentioned in the news, told newsmen that most of the alerts raised by the alleged victims were orchestrated.

According to him, some criminal elements who are on a rampage in the city, deliberately create scenes in a public gathering to enable them to steal from unsuspecting citizens.

He said that some miscreants in the nation’s capital are taking advantage of the trend to perpetrate other heinous crimes.

“About 80 percent of the alarms raised by these people that claim that their manhood is missing are fake. It is a new strategy to steal people’s belongings.

“Most times, what happens is that these people go to places that are crowded and then one or two of them raise the alarm that their joysticks are stolen. They do it just to capture attention.

“Normally, when such things occur, people tend to forget themselves and focus on what is happening, it is at that moment that other members of the gang will start stealing phones, bags, and even cars.

“By the time the alleged victims notice that the jobs have been done, you will start hearing something like, ‘my manhood is back’, back from where exactly?

“The only way out of this is that when any person raises such an alarm and it is discovered whether in the hospital or anywhere that he lied, such person should be arrested and prosecuted for raising false alarm. If the police do this to at least three persons, the trend will reduce,” he said.

However, a video clip cited by .ng revealed how one alleged manhood thief confessed to have committed the crime in Nasarawa State. According to him, “if I just talk to you and you reply to me, your manhood is gone”.

He claimed to be working for one native doctor.

But the Nasarawa State PPRO told .ng that the confession may have been made under duress.

“The condition he was in at that moment may determine why he made such a confession”, he said.

Manhood theft scientifically impossible

The allegations, according to experts, are only hinged on diabolism as it has no bearing on science.

Residents have blamed the trend on ritualists, particularly internet fraudsters who may have sent boys into the city to diabolically harvest people’s manhoods for sacrifices to woo their prospective victims.

Speaking on the matter, former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani lamented how the claim of manhood theft was becoming rampant in the Federal Capital.

In a post on his official X handle, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain expressed worry over how the accused thieves are being lynched by mobs, saying they may be innocent.

He wrote, “The claim of manhood stealing is becoming rampant in Abuja and the lawlessness is when the accused or wrongly accused are lynched by a mob. There is no scientific basis behind such claims. It’s simply magicians at work”.

According to a health expert, Dr Kaleb Ugo, who spoke with newsmen on Saturday, it is medically impossible for a man’s organ to just disappear without a cut.

He said the allegations are “based on African magic and not facts.”

Ugo, however, said there are medical conditions that may lead to a shrinking of manhood but not a total disappearance as being peddled by alleged victims.

He said peyronie’s disease and erectile dysfunction can lead to the reduction in the size of penis.

The doctor explained that peyronie’s disease condition is when a body begins to form a condition called plague, which is the forming of scar tissue in the lining surrounding the corpora cavernosa, known as the tunica albuginea.

According to him, the condition can lead to the shortness of the penis.

He said patients suffering from the disease will always notice that their organs are shorter than they were.

On erectile dysfunction, Ugo explained that when a man stops experiencing an erection for a long time, there are possibilities that the manhood would shrink.

“Just like every other thing, for instance, when your car packs up and you stop using it for six months, you don’t expect it to remain like it was.

“Somehow, when our body stops having regular erections, the elastic tissue that stretches the penis from the flaccid state into the erect state can transform in a way that the penis loses its elasticity.

“And when the penis is no longer elastic, it won’t stretch when you get an erection, and you will notice you lost length”, he said.

.ng reports that the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Haruna Garba had warned against spreading false information regarding alleged organ disappearance.

According to the CP, such rumours had led to public anxiety and disruption of peace across the territory.

PoliticsAppeal Court Reverses Sack Of Kano NNPP House Of Reps Member, Zakari by Thonyboy(op): 8:15pm On Oct 07, 2023
The Court of Appeal has set aside the judgement of the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which voided the election of Umar Mukhtari Zakari, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), for Tarauni Federal Constituency, Kano State.

A three-member panel of the court, in a judgment on Saturday in Abuja, upheld that arguments by lawyer to Zakari and the NNPP, Mahmud Magaji (SAN) that the tribunal erred in law in reaching its decision.

In the lead judgment by Justice Obande Ogbuinya, the Court of Appeal held that the tribunal was wrong to have concluded the Zakari forged his credentials when the petitioners failed to establish their claim to that effect.

Zakari was declared winner of the election held on February 25, which Ibrahim Hafiz Kawu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenged with a petition dated March 17, 2023.

The petitioners had claimed that Zakari purportedly forged the Housawa Special Primary School certificate which he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the grounds that the name on it was simply “Muktar Umar.”

The Court of Appeal, in its judgment on Saturday, held that the respondents, who were petitioners at the tribunal, failed to prove that Zakari was not the same person who attended the school and was awarded the certificate.

It proceeded to set aside the judgement of the tribunal, allowed the appeal and affirmed Zakari’s election.

CrimeCourt Sends Four Men To 20 Years In Prison For Kidnapping Mike Ozekhome by Thonyboy(op): 7:02am On Oct 07, 2023
A Federal High Court (FHC), Abuja, has convicted and sentenced two of the four defendants alleged to have kidnapped Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, to a 20-year jail term each.

Justice Binta Nyako, in a judgment on Friday, held that the prosecution had been able to establish the counts preferred against Kelvin Ezeigbe and Frank Azuekor, who were 1st and 2nd defendants, beyond reasonable doubt.

Justice Nyako held that the sentence would run from the day of their arrest.

The judge, however, discharged and acquitted Michael Omonigho and Momoh Haruna, who were 3rd and 4th defendants, of the counts levelled against them in the terrorism charge.

She held that though some of the counts against Ezeigbe and Azuekor attracted punishment ranging from death sentence, life imprisonment to at least 10 years jail term, she had found that the accused had been remorseful of their criminal act.

She said she also found that they had been in custody for about 10 years from the day of their arrest.

Recall that while Omonigho, who was said to be the chief priest, was in court, Haruna was not.

The judge, however, directed that Haruna, who was at large, be brought to court to face the sin of his escape from lawful custody, even though he was discharged of the counts against him.

The judge commended the defence lawyer, Bala Dakum, and the prosecution counsel, Chioma Onuegbu, for their industrious input in the course of the trial.

The defendants; Kelvin Ezeigbe, Frank Azuekor, Michael Omonigho and Momoh Haruna were first arraigned before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of a FHC, on June 9, 2014, on a 13-count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery, kidnapping and acts of terrorism.

While the three defendants were in court, Haruna was said to be missing after the attack on Kuje Correctional Centre by terrorists on July 5, 2022.

PoliticsAlleged Forgery: Why Atiku Hates Tinubu So Much – APC Fires Back by Thonyboy(op): 4:33am On Oct 06, 2023
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it is unfazed by allegations made against President Bola Tinubu by former Vice President and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar earlier on Thursday.

The APC claimed that Atiku harbours deep animosity towards Tinubu because, according to them, he believes Tinubu was responsible for his electoral woes in 2007, 2015, 2019 and this year.

.ng reports that Atiku in a press conference in Abuja made several allegations against Tinubu, which were based on the documents he obtained from the Chicago State University.

The APC, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said that Atiku delivered nothing except the pitiful regurgitation of lies, mindless distortions and deliberate falsehood on his infantile obsession with the academic record of Tinubu

The party said that Atiku has been out there for several weeks now, displaying utter desperation in his bid to become the President of Nigeria.

The APC said that Atiku’s press conference was a calculated attempt to whip up public sentiments and inordinately pressure the Supreme Court.

“We believe Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should have known better than to demonstrate gross contempt of the highest court by making public comments on a matter that he has submitted to the court for adjudication

“The major takeaway from his Yar’Adua Centre show, especially at question time, was that Atiku harbours deep animosity towards Tinubu, whom he believes was responsible for his electoral woes in 2007, 2015, 2019 and this year.

“Furthermore, he stated that the ‘F’ on the Southwest college certificate, a feeder institution to CSU, which President Bola Tinubu used to gain admission into CSU was a clerical error, which could of course happen.

“He reiterated that Southwest College was a major feeder source for CSU. He said the person admitted based on the transcript from South West College, was a male Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Westberg also added the courses taken by President Bola Tinubu at Southwest College were consistent with the courses he took at CSU.

“Westberg further deposed that Accounting is a rigorous field of study. Anyone who did not take the requisite courses at the lower levels could not have done well at CSU.

“In President Tinubu’s case, he did excellently well at CSU. He graduated with High Honours. That to him point to the fact that the person who attended and graduated from CSU was the same person who went to Southwest College

“He pointed out that CSU has had at least six Registrars since 1979 and in an affidavit at an Illinois court prior to the deposition said ‘Chicago State University provided a diploma to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and subsequently provided a certified (or official) copy of that diploma. Both are valid and authentic diplomas of Chicago State University’

‘He said further that the difference in the date of award on the diploma versus the certified copy is likely the result of human error. The graduation date on the certified copy is typed in manually by a person and can be inaccurate.’

“Westberg noted that by practice, CSU does not replace certificates for students as they are issued by 3rd party vendors which is also a common practice by other US universities. The proof of attendance and graduation remains the transcripts.

“There is also no part of Mr. Westberg’s deposition where he said that the certificate President Bola Tinubu presented to INEC for his election is fake or was forged.

“All the insinuations and innuendos in this regard are pure mischief and should be disregarded. President Tinubu could not have forged a University degree he honourably earned because there is no advantage to derive from such and no incentive to do so.

“In desperation, unbecoming of a statesman who once occupied the second highest office in the land, the PDP candidate in the last election has thrown every decency, decorum, dignity and national respectability out the window on his purposeless judicial voyage of discovery to the United States in search of a magic wand for taking power against the will of the Nigerian electorate loudly expressed in last February’s presidential election.

“Alhaji Atiku Abubakar holds the unenviable title of Nigeria’s most prolific election loser and longest running presidential candidate in history, and we see his recent US fishing expedition as the last kick of a roundly rejected presidential aspirant.

“While we sympathise with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for spending a lifetime pursuing an unrealised dream, we strongly condemn the perfidious road he has taken and the needless negative exposure of Nigeria and the institution of the Presidency in foreign land.

“Just for the record, we wish to provide some clarity on the matter of the deposition of Mr. Caleb Westberg, the Registrar of Chicago State University, last Tuesday under oath at the Chicago office of Atiku’s lawyer, Angela Liu, to save unsuspecting Nigerians from barrage of untruths, distortions and campaign of misinformation being dished out by Atiku and his PDP Mr. Westberg was unmistaken and unambiguous in his deposition as to the fact that President Bola Tinubu graduated with honours from Chicago State University. He also emphatically provided clear answers on all other issues raised which we can sum as follows: 1. That the person who is Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is the same person who attended Chicago State University.

“He confirmed that a certain gentleman called Adeniji who had come forward to say he was Tinubu’s classmate was in fact a student at CSU at the same time and they both ran for student union positions.

“Mr. Westberg said the diploma certificate, on which the PDP and Atiku seek to gaslight Nigerians and the whole world, is just a ceremonial document and what proved studentship at Chicago State University and in any American university is transcript, not certificate.

“It should now be clear to all Nigerians that despite Atiku’s lies before the

Illinois Court that he wanted to use the discoveries in pursuit of his appeal at the Supreme Court, he has rather chosen to use same as an instrument of mischief and blackmail in clear contempt of the highest court of the land.”

PoliticsConditional Cash Transfer: Tinubu’s Aide, Nweze Vows To Include South East by Thonyboy(op): 8:21am On Oct 05, 2023
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, South East, Mrs Chioma Nweze has assured that there will be total inclusion of the South-East region in the ongoing verification of National Social Register for the disbursement of conditional cash transfer to 25 million poor families across the country.

Nweze, who made this known in a statement signed and made available to newsmen shortly after a meeting with the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, said the ongoing verification of National Social Register will capture the poor and needy homes across the South-East zone.

She revealed her preparedness to work with the Minister to ensure that painstaking efforts are put forward to actualize the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The statement reads in part: “The ongoing verification, which was flagged off last week by the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, seeks to purge the National social register of ‘ghost beneficiaries’ by ensuring that genuine, poor, needy and vulnerable Nigerian families will be the real beneficiaries of the conditional cash transfer.”

She, however, called on State governments, LGAs, traditional rulers, community heads, women and youth leaders in the South-East zone to own the ongoing verification by ensuring that only the deserving poor and needy families were verified.

CrimeDelta: Police Arrest Teenage Suspect Who Began Robbery At Seven by Thonyboy(op): 2:12pm On Oct 04, 2023
The Delta State Police Command has said a 14-year-old suspect, Gift Peace, who was arrested in connection to a robbery case in the state, confessed that he started the criminal act when he was seven.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, who made this known in a statement on the command’s X handle on Wednesday, said Gift was arrested following a distress call received at the ‘B’ Division Warri on September 29.

He explained that a police undercover operative sighted one of the suspects during their robbery operation at the Giwamu junction Warri and trailed him to a suya spot at Enerhen Junction, where he was nabbed.

The Chicago State University, CSU, has released the school documents of President Bola Tinubu to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku obtained victory at the court in his fierce legal battle to probe into the academic qualification of Tinubu in the February 25 presidential poll.

Tinubu had supplied certificates from the Chicago State University, CSU, to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to secure eligibility to participate in the election.

A United States of America court on Saturday ordered CSU to release Tinubu’s academic records for verification and in support of Atiku’s petition challenging the result of the 2023 presidential poll.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arraigned the Chief Executive Officer of Emee Oil And Gas Nig. Ltd., Florence Onojame, who allegedly defrauded Access Bank of N4.4 billion.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
EFCC counsel, Mr Fatai Mohammed, thereafter prayed to the court for a trial date and remand of the defendant.

Mohammed told the court the defendant committed the offences with four others at large sometime in February 2022 in Lagos.

Defence counsel Mr Williams Onate, however, informed the court that a bail application for his client had been filed before the court and served on the prosecution.

“We will be praying for a short adjournment for hearing of the bail application and that the defendant be ordered to remain in the custody of the EFCC,” Onate said.

According to EFCC, the alleged offences contravene Sections 278, 326 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

PoliticsMaulud: Gov Radda Preaches True Brotherhood, Patriotism Among Nigerians by Thonyboy(op): 11:56am On Sep 27, 2023
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has enjoined Nigerians of all religious creeds to imbibe the virtues of true brotherhood and compassion for humanity in their daily affairs.

“Doing so will greatly assist in engendering national peace, unity and integration in a pluralistic society like ours,” Radda said.

He made the plea while felicitating with Muslims in the state, country, and all over the world, on the occasion of the 2023 Eid-il-Maulud celebration.

The Maulud religious festivity, he asserted, affords Muslims the opportunity to graciously and devotedly honour Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) by remembering and exhorting one another to emulate his noble personality and flawless social characters of honesty, fairness, compassion, and regards for people.

He said: “Our pious and revered Prophet Muhammad was an iconic and legendary Messenger of God, who led a life of unmistakable piety, pure humility, astounding level of sincerity, genuine love for humanity, high sense of gratitude, sheer perseverance, true generosity, and stellar modesty, among other endearing moral values”.

He explained that in commemorating the anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet of Allah, Muslims in the country should recommit themselves to righteousness and other noble spiritual acts, that only project the Islamic religion and their own personality traits, in the most spectacular fashion.

“More importantly, I tasked Muslims in Katsina and the entire country to show love towards their fellow religious adherents, and even to those with different spiritual ideologies. On one hand, we all, as Nigerians, should strive to exhibit morals that are virtuous. Equally, now is the time for us to patriotically work towards making Nigeria a prosperous nation,” he said.

PoliticsPDP Links Supreme Court Fire Outbreak To Atiku, Obi’s Appeals by Thonyboy(op): 6:23am On Sep 26, 2023
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the fire incident that occurred at the Supreme Court on Monday was suspicious.

.ng recalls that a section of the apex court went up in flames at about 7 a.m. on Monday.

Although the cause of the unfortunate incident is yet unknown, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has commenced investigation into the matter.

Reacting, the PDP, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said the development was suspicious, citing the appeal of electoral matters pending in the court.

The statement reads, “The PDP is worried over the fire outbreak, especially given heightened public apprehension of possible arsonist attack, with the intent to cripple and frustrate the Supreme Court from effectively discharging its constitutional duties, especially with regard to high-profile electoral cases, including the Presidential Election Appeals pending before it.

“Our party demands an immediate full-scale investigation into the fire outbreak with the view to unravelling the circumstances or possible sabotage in the incident.

“The PDP insists that the outcome of the investigation should be made public unlike those of previous fire incidents in various government Ministries, Departments and Agencies which were characteristically swept under the carpet by the All Progressives Congress (APC) @OfficialAPCNg administrations.

“While calling on the Federal Government to beef up security around the Supreme Court, the PDP also demands that Nigerians be assured of the safety of sensitive documents and equipment at the court, especially at this critical time”.

Recall that the Labour Party presidential candidate in the last election, Peter Obi, and his counterpart in PDP, Atiku Abubakar, recently appealed the tribunal judgement on the petition they both filed against the election of President Bola Tinubu on February 25.

PoliticsTinubu Directs Security Agencies To Rescue Abducted Students In Zamfara by Thonyboy(op): 11:47pm On Sep 24, 2023
Amidst divergent reactions to the resurgence of terrorist activities in the country, President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to rescue the remaining female students of the Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were recently abducted by terrorists.

The directive is sequel to recent disturbing reports that a group of bandits broke into a hostel and whisked away some students of the federal university.

Tinubu, while condemning the act, through his media aide, Ajuru Ngelale, on Sunday, described that development as a reprehensible act of abduction.

The President believes there is no moral justification for such heinous crimes against innocent victims whose only “offence” was their pursuit of quality education.

According to Ngelale: “While the President wholeheartedly commiserates with all families directly impacted by this sad incident, he affirms that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return.

“The President pledges that the federal government is determined to ensure that educational institutions remain sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity and totally free from the menacing acts of terrorists.”
