tbaba1234: So we agree, none of the gospels was written by a companion, the most you have are third party accounts.

There is proof, I claim that the quran is beyond the productive ability of a man which only points to a divine origin. I have written threads that explore a few of the evidences.

Please search for : THE AMAZING QURAN SEASON 1
Muhammed was illiterate and those who wrote the quran were third parties too.You can claim he dictated to them but that still makes them third parties. We also know human error where you can dictate something to someone and he writes something different.
About the quran being beyond human mind,I'm sure if you will be honest with yourself there are other books written with contents beyond human reasoning.

I'm showing you that the criterion u use to fault the Bible or any other book also faults the Quran.

Islam › Re: My Question For Muslims by thorpido(m): 7:06pm On May 20, 2013
^^^Mark was an accomplice of Peter and penned down words that he must have gotten from Peter and other eye witnesses. The messages of others does not differ from that of Mark.
What google shows is there are arguments for and against which will probably be till the end of time.
No one group can claim to be perfect.
Incidentally, the Quran has it's own account which is different from that of the Jews and Christians.
At the end of the day,it's still a question of my own side is true without proof(beyond just words written by men who are no more alive).

^^^Please is there proof that the disciples of Jesus were not involved in the writing of the Gospels?
Also what message is there of Jesus apart from the one in the Quran that validates what the Quran says about Jesus?

Christianity Etc › Re: Happy Pentecost Day To All Nairalanders. by thorpido(m): 11:28pm On May 19, 2013
nlMediator: Do you know of any christian that celebrates Pentecost? I think you're assuming a problem where none exists. Christians are aware of what happened on that particular day of Pentecost when the disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost. It does not mean they celebrate the Pentecost nor even celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Ghost. I do not understand in what sense a Pentecostal christian or church is a misnomer. We associate things or persons with landmark events, without that being a misnomer. Again, this is much ado about nothing on your part.
It's obvious you don't get it.Haven't you heard of some people being called pentecostal Christians? So what really is the meaning of that? It's a wrong description because it means to many people an unorthodox christian.A Christian is simply a christian! We use all these descriptions because of a lack of knowledge and that is what i'm pointing out.

If you still don't get, well don't bother.I'm sure others would.
Christianity Etc › Re: Happy Pentecost Day To All Nairalanders. by thorpido(m): 6:32pm On May 19, 2013
May the Spirit of the Lord continue to fire us up and increase God's knowledge in us.

However we all need to grow in knowledge.Pentecost celebration was not for the Christians. The early Christians did not celebrate pentecost but were huddled up in a room on the day of pentecost. It was the Jews who were celebrating pentecost.

The term 'pentecostal churches' or pentecostals(for christians) is a misnomer.

Nashville: I initially thought the topic was a joke, but seeing the responses, I am in shock that people actually think it should be done. Nigerian women dey suffer no be small o. Chai, you will hand wash all your husband, children, in-laws cloths. Then iron everything, then cook, sweep, get petrol for generator, fetch water all in the hot sun. Chai, Nigerian wives, I salute una.
Read well!Nobody is supporting it.

Once you start it becomes like an obligation.....nobody should take that.

Chillext: My fellow nairalander's, pls help me with this;

1. Is it good for a wife to wash the clothes of the husband's younger brother?

2.Is it good for a wife to wash the clothes of the husband's senior brother?
1.It is good but you don't have to do it.If your husband's younger brother is matured, why do you have to wash his clothes? If he is a kid, then it's alright to wash his clothes.

2.If your husband's elder brother is on a visit or short stay, you may do it as a favour. If however, your husband's elder brother lives with you,let him wash his own clothes!

Kambo's words are golden.
A couple of months ago,a paraplegic got married in my church.
Like Kambo said, project your personality. That means you need to work on yourself to pack something upstairs.Listening to the paraplegic who got married in my church,u'll know he's intelligent. He's a post-graduate student too.
You said u're in school right, please take your studies seriously so u can come out with good grades.

I hope you believe in God and you have a relationship with Him too. He's a miracle working God.

Rossikk: The quoran? What about Confucianism? Buddhism? African religion and philosophy? The Hindi texts? Taoism? Survivalism? Zoroastrianism? Shintoism? Jainism? Have you studied any of these belief systems in-depth, and if not, how do you know their worth? And how can you "educate" anyone when your own brain is so lacking in knowledge and genuine exposure?
The way you talk shows your level of maturity.
Christianity Etc › Re: Salvation Is Not Dependent On Your Faith Or Religion by thorpido(m): 1:09pm On May 18, 2013
Rossikk: Have you spent a single hour of your entire life studying the tenets of any other religion apart from Christianity? My guess is that like 99 percent of your fellow Christians, you haven't.. In fact you likely consider it a sin or even blasphemous to open any other religious book that is not Christian. He can you ever become sensible or knowledgeable with such a closed mindset?
Closed mindset? I'm laughing at your ignorance.
There's an online quran and I've spent time reading it.
Your knowledge is based on assumptions. It shows the level where u are. That you don't know does not mean others don't know.I don't have the time to educate you now.
Christianity Etc › Re: Salvation Is Not Dependent On Your Faith Or Religion by thorpido(m): 12:30pm On May 18, 2013
Rossikk: What technology? What knowledge? Will the increase in your knowledge about Buddha ever turn you into a Buddhist? You have this idea that people reject Christianity out of ignorance of it. Get such evil, misguided thinking out of your system.
There's no other reason for it.There's no way you will know Jesus and ever seek another path.I am not telling you about Jesus the man who walked on the streets of Galilee but the Resurrection and the Life. There's a knowledge from above.Jesus said,... no man knoweth the Father but the Son and him to whom the Son will reveal.
I'm trying to show you there's a knowledge beyond the type you find in textbooks.
The Greeks call it'epignosis'.
You don't have that,do you?
Christianity Etc › Re: Salvation Is Not Dependent On Your Faith Or Religion by thorpido(m): 12:15pm On May 18, 2013
Rossikk: How can I be brainwashed when I pander to no 'holy books' or creeds? You don't seem to understand the meaning of brainwashed. Who is to say what is "the right path" of religion in a world of 7 billion people with varying cultures and traditions? To pick out one and claim that as the only true religion is the height of ignorance and evil. The only reason you have this deep belief in your religion is that you were born in a geographical region where the faith was prevalent. Why would God make your salvation dependent largely on geographical accident of birth? To imagine that means you think God is thoughtless and stu.pid. But the creator is not a dumb, thoughtless brute as made out by Christianity and Islam. He is a trillion times more intelligent than your religions portray him.
That is why knowledge is increasing. The same reason technology has made it so easy for all to hear or see.The time will come when all men will hear.
What will qualify a man at that time is if he chooses to believe or disbelieve.

overdrive: Eeyaaa what is d problem of some women with high sex drive even in old age?
The sesx drive of a woman begins to peak at the mid-thirties and could be dat high well into the late forties. It's normal.Unfortunately with many men,the drive begins to drop from the forties and in some it is accompanied with impotence.

Nowadays anyone becomes a pastor.
The man is obviously not living up to what he preaches. He should seek professional help if he is weak rather than abusing his wife.

masonkz: Marriage is optional, our society just looks down on you when you aren't married at a certain age. As for me, I don't think I'll be getting married. Not sure anyway. Having a baby is easy these days, and I'll be ok with fathering a baby myself. And if I must marry, it has to be someone that understands my sexuality.

chioma134: @poster,what is most important is what you want, not what ur father or ur husband wants. If u really want to go back to school, don't allow anyone stop u. Marriage is not slavery. Get a job, save money and sponsor urself. U'll look back in years to come and thank God u decided to take the bull by the horns at d time u did.
I was in a similar situation, except dt my husband supported d idea initially, but when it was time for school fees,he acted disinterested. I nearly forfeited my admission cos I didn't have money, but on d day of d deadline for payment,I made one half-hearted call to my sister who wired d money asap, and I payed. I don't regret d decision, and now my husband is trying to make amends for not helping(he had money then). So,op,follow ur heart.
You make it look like your husband had to be reponsible financially for your education. You women always think the man has to carry everything.

Crime › Re: Bandits Kill Pregnant Woman Over Church Offering by thorpido(m): 7:18pm On May 14, 2013
alnaijiri: Those same robbers were most likely Christians who prayed to Jesus for success before embarking on the robbery. Muslims, on the other hand, would never dare touch money reserved for the masjid.
You're indeed very shallow. What is wrong with someone being responsible for the keeping of offerings in church?Did u read that her husband was the one in charge? It was not like she stole the money or she was going to spend it.She was probably going to bank it the next day.
It was just unfortunate that the tragedy happened.
