Politics / Re: Gbadebo Rhodes-vivour::Lagos Culture Is Different From Yoruba Culture. Video by Throwback: 10:49am On Nov 17, 2023
christejames:
Of course, Lagos culture is entirely different from those of average Yorubas...

The Awori, Egun, Badagry and some other indeginous tribes in Lagos have some kind of distinct culture from the average Yorubas undecided

It's the emigration of Yorubas from Northern part of Lagos, with the immigrants leading as top officials in the state making it the reasons the Lagos state is having some semblance of Yorubas in it. Even the Ijaws and Edos will claim Lagos state as theirs first before even any Yoruba will attempt to undecided

Indeginous Lagos names like Coker, Hundeyin, Gbadamosi, Funsho, Bucknor, Sarumi etc have little or no meaning in Yoruba. Even the culture of Eyo was alien to the Yorubas, Eyo masquerades is indeginous to Lagosians which the Yorubas have adopted as theirs undecided, in the Yoruba folklore, there was nothing like masquerade as they have it today in Eyo... The Yoruba culture could be akin to that of the Hausas.

The case of indeginous Lagosians could be seen in same light to those of Kalabari in Rivers State where but Igbo and Ijaw is seen as forming that language.

But same Awori, Ijebu, Egba, and the non-Yoruba Egun that are in Lagos state, are the same exact tribes in Ogun State.

Awori is in the Yewa Awori region of Ogun State that is Sango - Ota, Iford, Ilaro etc.

Ijebu is all over Ijebu and Remo regions of Ogun State.

Egba is in the Abeokuta region of Ogun State.

Egun is in the Ipokia region of Ogun State.

I woke up at 4am just to listen to INEC declare my preferred candidate as the winner of the presidential election.

I was very happy I awakened at the right time to hear the victory declaration 10mins after.

It was a culmination of a story that had began many years ago, with dedication, patience, and loyalty.

Slowly but surely, Bola Tinubu plotted his way to the Presidency, despite all the obstacles over the years, including the ones put on his way by his own party and the Buhari government.

completely untrue. Israel has always belonged to the Jews. Arabs came to the land through occupation of the Ottoman empire. They are the occupiers.

Arabs came to the land that was already in disarray after the Romans had sacked the Jews and the Roman empire eventually collapsed centuries after with the rise of Christianity.

As those who came before the Hebrew/Jews spent their time in that region and moved on by way of extinction or annihilation, so did the Jews, and so did the Persian empire, then Roman empire.

The Arabs have occupied what was later known as Palestine, since the 7th century till the 20th century.

Despite that the Ottoman empire would later dominate that region, the people still remained Arabs, meaning the Arabs outlasted the Ottoman Turks till they were shrunk back to their Turkey origins.

Even till 1919, the Arabs were 90% of the population of the whole Palestine region, despite that 2 waves of Jewish migration into that region had already occurred.

If the Arab were not under the control of the British, would they have allowed the Jewish refugees from Europe to come settle there?

How can a land that the Jews committed all manner of genocide to occupy at their own time, belong to them?

They killed to get the land, they did their bit, and they were killed to be displaced from the land till it shrunk into just what became knows as Judea of the Jews, which are the 2 Hebrew tribe of Benjamin and Judah.

And even at that, they were still sacked from that land by the Romans.

Did your Koran or Muhammad refer to the dwellers of Jerusalem and environs as Palestinians? Even your Koran and mohammad duly knew and recognised Jews very well without having any idea of Palestine.

I am a Christian, and I know that it is not the Arabs that sacked the Jews from the region that the Romans already called Palestine.

And the Jews who had one time occupied what later became Palestine, where not also the 1st occupiers of that land.

So Britain and the world powers had no business allowing Jews who had been living in Europe for many centuries, to come to Palestine and occupy a place that was already Arab land over a 1000years ago.

Only in my ignorant childhood did I ever support Israel over Palestine, or see the Arabs as terrorists without just cause.

Palestine belongs to the Arabs, and while some Arabs might be terrorists, it is with just cause as before the injustice, they were not terrorist but an expanding civilization no different from the Greeks or Romans.

This is the military rule some kids have been clamouring for.

A system of government where the Military ruler can be so confident to steal as much as possible, knowing that no news media or social media critic dare to talk about it or make any accusation.

And if any member of the government dare to leak any information, it would be considered as treason punishable by death.

Babcock is actually the last of the 3 private universities I mentioned, but certainly better than anyone I did not mention.

The school that has really impressed me is Afe Babalola.

Their Engineering programme is quite strong and the graduates are highly employable.

But Covenant University still stands ahead of all private universities and has now established itself as a strong competitor among the elite public universities.

Politics / Re: JUST-IN: Visas Of 264 Nigerian Passengers Cancelled On Arrival In Saudi Arabia by Throwback: 10:05pm On Nov 13, 2023
Industry observers attributed this to aeropolitics, noting that it was a way to force the Nigerian operator out of the route unless government intervenes, adopting the principle of reciprocity.

Very sad that this has happened if indeed it is all about aeropolitics as all pointers lead to.

But for the reciprocity suggestion, that is a big laughable joke.

You want to stop Nigerians working in Oil and Gas, and ICT, and Medical fields in Saudi Arabia from traveling there on the Airlines that the Saudis prefer?

You want to stop those who depend on religious pilgrimages to make it to heaven from going to Mecca?

Abeg levels pass levels.

Saudi-Arabia can do it to Nigeria, and we have no choice but to fly with the airlines their aeropolitics has designated.

How many Saudis visit Nigeria or make a living in Nigeria compared to the many who are rich due to Saudi oil wealth?

Even the many religious bigots who are ever willing to denigrate Muslims are not ashamed to make wealth in Saudi-Arabia or UAE or Qatar.

If Palestine gets it right in the future, they will also beg to get Palestinian visa and forget about all their "uncircumcised Philistine" bigotry they had vomited against the Palestinians.

The History and International Studies graduate from Ajayi Crowther University (ACU) in Oyo State set his certificates on fire.

Many already suspected he is one of those who studied a discipline that is not very employable. Then a private university that has no standing in the Labour Market like Covenant, Babcock or Afe Babalola.

If he has never worked a job that is relevant to the discipline since 2010 when he graduated, it is a learning opportunity not to study for the sake of university admission or to graduate anyhow for the sake of certificate.

The very stupid action was burning his O'level certificate that would always be required for any other undergraduate study he choses to embark on to align his career experiences with an academic qualification.

In all he has helped to eliminate himself from contention, so that other job applicants can move forward with more ease.

University education is not required for selling hair wigs and extensions on Facebook or "Fashion Design" better known as tailoring, or carpentary/furniture business, or selling cosmetics or operating a barber shop or betting shop.

Pursue whatever vocation that will bring you money and avoid a delay of 5 or 6 years just to obtain a useless certificate just because you want to feel among.

UK is becoming too liberal a society. The same nation reputed for orchestrating political moves that strengthen their national influence
in the past is becoming a proliferated society where national interest is beclouded liberalism. Even their European neighbours against whom they have won some smart diplomatic games in the previous centuries are taking advantage of them in many sphere of economy and politics. Imagine UK electricity being supplied by France company EDF. Isn't this a weakness. Some other sector of relevance in national security e.g Heathro airport are under the control of foreign individual. Little wonder they have never hosted a world cup in modern time, where there European rival have had it twice. Even Spain who hosted in 1992 has been tactically rewarded with 2034 while the one they expressed interest has gone back to the middle East in Saudi Arabia

Spain hosted Olympic games in Barcelona 1992, not World Cup of Italia 1990 or USA 1994.
