He was hoping for awoof so that he can use fake stats to make a case for himself. The game was already won and Alonso was in his right to shoot cos he had a very clear sight at goal. Lukaku in his position wouldn't pass.

Ever since that interview, my perception of Lukaku has changed entirely. I don't mind him leaving the club, but let's face facts, the best option for Alonso was to square that ball. That's not awoof goal. That's a number 9 positioning. Alonso knows that he made the wrong choice there. If you notice after the full time whistle, both of them discussed it. Alonso was nodding when Lukaku was telling him he should have squared the ball.

For the sake of the team, I would have loved Lukaku to get into the scores sheet. It will help his confidence. We need all the contribution we can get at this moment, especially in UCL. Won't be a bad idea to defend it.
