afrodoc2: It is hard to determine how much Ole’s training and instructions contributed to the goals but the fact that our relatively quick full backs were near their corner flag and while our slow DM was the man back while we had a corner suggests the coach had something to do with it.
Spacing at set pieces usually goes according to what has been worked on in training.
The other goal was just a sequence of errors by the players starting with Bruno and Mata.
However we are not blaming Amaka for the goals specifically but for the performances in general. Your last paragraph summarises everything. However I have to point out that having your DM as a last man when your team is playing a corner kick is pretty normal. We do that with Kante, Makelele etc... |

hensben: It was comic. It means the coach failed to instill discipline into the players. I beg to disagree. Is it the coach that instruct his players to go all out attacking a corner kick in the 12th minute of the match? What's Maguire's job on the pitch as a captain and a defender? |

afrodoc2: We had a corner kick o. See where our full backs are standing.
Defenders wey dey practice open door policy. I see you guys in your thread blaming Ole upandan but let's critically look at this two goals. Is Ole responsible for this scatter scatter setup? I'm sure in the training sessions, there is a particular way a coach sets up his team to attack a corner kick or defend it. And I'm sure what I see in those images isn't Ole's setup. So who is to blame? The players or the coach? Even the second goal, look at how 3 defenders are marking themselves. Look at the space the 2 opponents have. Just look at the space... Is it Ole's fault that those 3 defenders mark themselves? Generally, a coach's formation/tactics is very important in winning matches. And personnel too. But there are basics of football that you will expect players, professionals, not to wait for coach to tell them during a match. Those 2 goals, for me, fall squarely on the shoulders of the players. |

Who was picked by the competition organisers as the MOTM? I must be a real expert to be on the same page with Uefa about VVD's performance then.
Ofcourse you wouldn't be concerned as you don't know that you are as good as your recent performances.
I told you Atalanta lost at home to fvcking Sampdoria 1-3 at home. The free-scoring team couldn't score freely against a Sampdoria. Do i need to start spoonfeeding you before you understand little things?
This is the height. So you had to start adding results of December last year and February to justify that Atalanta is a free scoring side in November this year?
No wonder diggz called you lil bros. Bye. You have to do something consistently to be tagged something. Simeone didn't play defensive football in just 2 matches to be tagged a defensive coach, ditto Mourinho. These guys set up their teams defensively consistently for a long period of time before they were called defensive coaches. Atalanta didn't score 3 or more goals in just two matches to be tagged a free scoring side. You have to go back to last year/season and see them scoring 3 or more goals consistently. That is why they are a free scoring side. @bolded: This season they scored 6 goals in 2 matches before losing to Liverpool. So what are you talking about? |

airmark: If you have retentive memory, that shouldn't be a herculean task for you if it's existent. But like most of your claims, they are always unfounded.
VVD's culpability in the heavy loss is what i expected you to highlight but no, like other wack analysts you wouldn't because there was none. In fact he was the best defender among all Liverpool defenders that day.
Ramos conceded 6 goals, but sound minds would ask if he was responsible for the heavy loss. They won't just analyse the loss like illiterates by going to town and lambast him.
A team that lost at home to Sampdoria 1-3 is free-scoring. Scummy dey disguise.
[s]Below is what Alisson said about VVD and you can add that of Buffon to it. Your own opinion is invalid as i am sure you didn't even keep for your school let alone a professional club.
Just like the Ls you collected on Morata and Rudiger, choke on this one.
When you have Virgil van Dijk – the giant – on the pitch, maybe it scares the opposition. For me, he is special. I have great defenders [in front of me] – Joël [Matip], Joe Gomez, Dejan [Lovren]. Everyone did a great job this season. But Virgil has something special, he is the big man." Alisson Becker, Liverpool goalkeeper
"When you see him walk out onto the pitch, you know within yourself that the attacker has got no chance against him. Virgil has basically played every minute of every game and I don't think he's put in a performance of less than 8/10, which is frightening." Gianluigi Buffon, Juventus goalkeeper[/s] Retentive memory that you will argue and ask for proof? @Bolded: refer to this reply.. timbros:

Your problem is, when Liverpool defence mess up, you will critically analyse who was at fault for the goals BUT when they play well, it's VVD.
Double standards. No?
And 5 goals is different from 7. As in, SEVEN! You will always analyse whose fault it is when the defence is bad but you won't do so when they play well. That's double standard. In UCL final, Liverpool kept a clean sheet and it's all VVD. You never analysed what happened in the game. Who is responsible for the clean sheet. Matip made 14 clearances in the match. Alisson made 8 saves (equaling a 16 year record in the process) but no, according to our in house expert, it's VVD all the way because he stopped Son. And what is my concern if Atalanta lost to Sampdoria in the Serie A? Someone dash you L because Boateng scored. What was your reply? That you were critisicing Boateng because of his DEFENSIVE deficiency, not his ATTACKING prowess. But now we are talking about Atalanta's ATTACKING ability and you're telling me how their DEFENCE is leaking goals IN THE SERIE A when we are discussing CHAMPIONS LEAGUE! What kind of person are you? Sharktar 0-3 Atalanta Atalanta 4-1 Valencia Valencia 3-4 Atalanta Midtjilland 0-4 Atalanta Atalanta 2-2 Ajax Do you really know what 'free scoring side' mean? Even in the Serie A you referenced, should I start posting Atalanta's results last season? I didn't even bother to read the struck off part. I can pull out comments from ex players and coaches on Alisson. It's not a new thing to see players /ex players complimenting each other. |

airmark: Quote like 3 examples of when i did that and VVD didn't outshine them.
So because Umtiti never conceded 5 goals like Terry, he is better than Terry. Because Boathand never conceded 6 goals he must be better than Ramos that did, right?.
Someone like you must go and join Scummies in Championship next season. You don't expect to go digging through your posts to get 3 examples, do you? Am I that jobless? Stop throwing names around. We are not comparing players here. VVD conceded 7 goals in a match and that's unacceptable for a defender of his standards. A supposed elite defender who have climbed the podium to swallow 7 goals in a match? To make matters worse, the opponent is not a heavyweight in the division. I bet you, if Alisson was in that match, they will never concede 7. Last night, Alisson showed you his importance to the team. Keeping a clean sheet against a free scoring Atalanta side, one of the best in Europe, without VVD. |
