DExponential: I'll always support Lamps but not this time. How did Alonso perform in our first two matches? Why give him another start? Why pair Silva and Chris just like that? If he was ok with the team, why did he remove Alonslow and Kovacic after the first half. Lampard has been making selection blunders, it's ok to blame him for this. Alonso is the only natural LB in the match day squad, so who else will he play there? Don't tell me Azpi because even a 2 year old child must have noticed that Azpi is being eased out of the starting XI gradually. No one knows why Emerson and/or Chilwell isn't in the team. Why can't Silva be paired with Chris? Is anything wrong with it? And what do you mean by "just like that"? Have you watched the partnership before, to know that it's a bad selection? And do you think Zouma is just left out of the match day squad just like that? And the bolded is just laughable. If every coach is okay with his selection, then there won't ever be tactical substitutions during matches. One of the qualities of a good coach is the ability to identify his teams deficiency and make the needed change to achieve a desired result AND that is exactly what Lampard did. Not all coaches will have the balls to make the changes Lampard made to turn the game around. Ineffective Alonso went off for Azpi. Kova off for CHO (we all saw his impact) and Mount came in the middle....only that tactical change produced 2 goals. Still pushing for goals, he took off Silva for Giroud and went for a back 3 of Azpi, Chris and James (imagine that back 3). We kept pushing till the 3rd goal came. This is what a bold coach is made of. I don't know why the blame. Against Liverpool, Lampard's tactics was working spot on till the red card. Why exactly are people blaming Lampard? |

I believe there must be a reason why Zouma didn't play. He was not even in the match day squad. He didn't start midweek so definitely he should have been in line to start today. Being that he disappeared entirely from the match day squad means something happened.
A knock maybe, or illness. |

BlueAngel444: u seem not to realize how good Arteta are Arsenal are doing. Then top four won't be as smooth for Chelsea as some think It's a long season that just started. The season Conte won EPL for us, we struggled from the beginning. It took back to back defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool to kick start our season. We went on to go on a 13 game winning streak. I'm not saying we will or won't win the EPL but don't judge a whole season from just 3 games in. |

Skimpledawg: Calm down boss.
We all dey para this night. We conceded goals purely from individual mistakes, with the first goal coming under 5 minutes. That is enough to even scatter a coach's tactics coming into a game. Yet Lampard made changes in the 2nd half that salvaged a point for us, and peeps are here still blaming him. Is drawing a game from 3-0 down easy? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 7:57pm On Sep 26, 2020 |
BlueAngel444: yes, I had Emerson or Odoi at RW but definitely not Mount. I doubt if I ever will like Mount on wings.
And why didn't Zouma start, not saying it would have made a difference but it might have, along with Jorginho. Were you consistent with your lineups? Why asking for consistency from Lampard when you yourself are not? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 7:55pm On Sep 26, 2020 |
DExponential: This result is on Lampard solely. Why were Emerson and Zouma not in the match day squad? Why start Alonso after his horror show against Brighton? What formation were we using in the first half? Why pair Silva and Christensen just like that? There's nothing like impatience here at all. So Lampard asked Silva to make that mistake? Lampard asked Alonso to nod the ball down to an opponent when there is absolutely no pressure on him? Did Lampard ask James to sluggishly keep an opponent onside? How is the result solely on Lampard? Are you telling me that this very lineup that started the game cannot win West Brom on a normal day? What exactly is wrong in the lineup? |

Lampard and his experiments, 3 different line ups, 3 different jerseys, 3 different results. And someone will still cry for consistency Are you consistent yourself? Do you know how many lineups you have posted here as your "preferred" lineup? Even just after Barnsley game midweek, you wanted Emerson at the right in a front 3. |

Thank goodness Jorginho is not on this pitch. If not, all the goals blame will somehow be twisted to him.
He is not even safe there on the bench. Some people will find a way to blame him there. |

nateevs: Mount is the first player starting the press and this is fundamental to Frank's overall set-up. When you have work-rate and dedication to the team, you put yourself in contention to start above talent.
That said, I am trying to understand what is average about Mount. What's he supposed to be doing at 21 that he is not already doing? People making conclusions about 19/21-year-old players. Last year Lamps was crazy favouring Abraham. Now everyone is putting Abraham in their first 11. Leave all this Mount agenda that people are pushing here. What they don't understand is that football is not all about goal and assist. |
