Skimpledawg: Shey make we no just forgo this Harvetz signing and instead go for Oblak? If you ask me, I'll say yes, let's go for Oblak. We have Mount who can play anywhere Havertz play. For the sake of squad depth, I'll welcome Havertz's arrival. But if I were to choose between Havertz and Oblak, it's Oblak all day. |

CFC twitter admin teasing us so hard. On this day 7 years ago we signed Eto'o.... Today is 29th. Eto'o wore number 29 jersey for us. Havertz wears 29. Coincidence? Or is this a subtle way of telling us an announcement is imminent?

Skimpledawg: Its awesome the way you cheery picked just the world cup to drive home your point.
@bolded, I solely agree with you. No cherry picking. Argentina played out goalless draws in both of the Copa America finals against Chile. A goal or assist from Messi in any of the matches could have changed the narrative. But Messi never delivered. |

Skimpledawg: Make we rest then.
Since your argument is because he didnt score or assist in the major finals he featured in, he won't come good for us.
 1. I didn't say he won't come good for us. I'm saying there is a possiblity he won't come good for us. More importantly, I'm saying that he will be a distraction for us. Let us build this team for the long term future. 2. In the world cup, Messi not only fail to score in the final, he failed to score in all the knockout matches... R16, quarter final, semi final, and final. |

Skimpledawg: To your second question, with the imminent signing of Havertz, Ziyech, Werner and others, our supporting cast can go a long way to help secure the trophies looking currently at their stats. Messi is big on his own.
Last UCL season which Liverpool eliminated Barca; 1st leg. The ball was squared to Dembele and he literally passed it to Allison. That goal would have gone a long way to securing their qualification. There are many instances too where the present Barca supporting cast has fell short of expectations.
To your 1st question, the context of 'help and assistance' is in others scoring and assisting as much as Messi does. Messi tops the goals charts for Argentina with almost a whooping 30goals against a non-retired player and 4 assists more than the closest assist maker in Argentina.
So, judge it yourself, does Messi get the required 'help and assistance' in the NT? Below is your first comment which I cautioned... Skimpledawg: I truly understand your point and it makes sense.
Inasmuch that the board won't sanction the deal, I'd be open to Messi coming to Chelsea. It is a statement of intent and ambition as a club to attract big names and also win trophies.
With Messi donning our jersey, we are sure to win trophies. Key word is SURE!!! You went on to emphasize your point that Messi can never fail anywhere with the words below... Skimpledawg: I am super sure.
Messi talent level would deliver goals and assists anywhere and everywhere. We've seen him deliver at the biggest stages of football and his only major setback has always been the fact that he mostly carries his team alone.
The times he got help and 'assistance', he delivered trophies.
Baba, e sure for me I went on to show you some biggest stages of football where he actually failed. Pay attention. The conversation is not WHY Messi failed but IF he can actually fail. Evidence shows that Messi can't deliver goals ANYWHERE and Everywhere as you claimed. He has played 4 major finals and neither scored nor assisted in any of them. Reason why I asked you to exercise caution. This is football. Messi can come to Chelsea and fail. But then, there is this ready made excuse of not having supporting cast, which is entirely another argument altogether. Talking about carrying a team alone, from the knockout stages, did Messi carry Argentina team to World Cup final in 2014 or the team carried him? |

Skimpledawg: We saw how he delivered for Barca when he had the necessary help from Xavi, Iniesta and to a large extent Neymar and Suarez (when he was still fertile ).
All players are human and they need help too. At the World Cup and Copa America, Messi was and still is Argentina highest goal scorer (I stand to be corrected). If he has a supposed off day, what happens to other players?
See my line of thought when I mentioned 'help and assistance'?
If Messi goes to City, in KDB alone, he has the help he needs to deliver.
Messi would deliver anywhere and everywhere if he has the necessary help and assistance. One question for you. Doesn't Messi get help and assistance in Argentina NT? Another side question, how sure are you that he will get that help and assistance that Xavi and co offered him, in Chelsea? |

with at least 20+goals 20+assists Messi will lift Chelsea even if not UCL but EPL titles Like I said, don't be SO sure. This is football. It doesn't ALWAYS work the way it appears on paper. |

Skimpledawg: Baba, I go just find you for PH bite you o
No try talk that talk again o Lol I'm just seeing this now. We are building a team for the future. Messi coming into he team will be a huge distraction. Yes he may give a year or two success but what about the long term? What will happen to us after getting too used to Messi and he retires or leaves? At 33, how many more years do you think he will give us? The average age of our squad now is not more than 24. This is a squad that should stay and blend together to dominate for the next 10 years. We don't need Messi abeg. |

airmark: That's what i need to look into critically but he has a decent pace from what i saw.
Another reason why i may want him to be drafted as LB, is the height and a bit skeptical with his tackles in the box. Yea, his height might be a problem to play CB in England. His range of passing is very decent. I like that about him. |
