Swissh: Is there any difference between Drogba or Lampard taking the Pk and missing? The Koko is at that instance their was no disadvantage in letting Drogba take it. He scores good for him and Chelsea. He misses bad for him and Chelsea as well. Am trying to tell you their is no difference between his personal glory and Chelsea glory at that instance. There is a reason every team has designated penalty takers. These guys are selected from the best penalty taker downwards. If Lampard miss the penalty, nothing much will be said about it. It's one of those things in football, either you score or miss. But if the main penalty taker is in the pitch and another person takes it and miss, there will be a lot of questions asked.... The uproar will be great. That's the difference. |

Swissh: At that instance the team and Drogba personal glory were one and the same thing. Drogba takes the Pk and scores, he tops Rooney on the goal chart and Chelsea go 2:0 up. There was no really no disadvantage of Drogba taking that first penalty at all. What if he miss when the number one penalty taker is on the pitch? |

Swissh: Lampard was lucky. Assuming the game ended 2:0 and Rooney scored to top Drogba in the goal chart I swear he for beat lampard. Bad teammate. If e happen like this, Drogba gast chill. That's why I said team first before personal glory. What if Drogba took the PK and missed then Wigan equalised then Man Utd win their own match? Or what if Drogba scored and the game ended 2-2, and Drogba won golden boot while Man Utd win the league? Which one will he prefer? |

odizeey: At the end of the day, it will be a Chelsea player who won the golden boot. Which one be personal glory? Abi if Lampard score people no go run go celebrate with am? No be him name them go add the goal to?
wooooooo Lampard the glory hunter. Guys make una no dey talk like this. At the bolded... You can never be sure. Drogba and Rooney was tied on 26 goals each. And all the match was played at the same time. Drogba just wanted to add to his goals tally, expecting that Rooney might also score. Man Utd won their own match I think 4-0 but Rooney didn't score. I'm sure Lampard and Drogba discussed that penalty during half time and Lampard may have explained things to him. In the 2nd half, Chelsea got another penalty and Drogba took it. This time, the match is already sealed. I remember watching that match with tension from the beginning knowing how Wigan use to worry us those days. |

Herbiedeen: Did you just 'Team first'?? When Chelsea 2 goals ahead?? say something else I'm not sure you watched the game that day. If you did, you wouldn't question what I said. First of all, it was 1 goal lead, not 2. Chelsea went into that final day just one point ahead of Man Utd in the table so the match is a must win for us to lift the trophy. Anelka scored an early goal. The game was dicey till that penalty..... At 1-0 the game is still anybody's game, especially when a draw might cost us the league. And just before the penalty, news came in that Man Utd have scored in their own game. Lampard is the designated penalty taker and 2-0 will most likely seal the game. And here is Drogba wanting to take the penalty (at that moment, he is still tied on 26 goals with Rooney). If its not personal glory, tell me why Drogba will want to take that penalty considering what is at stake that moment? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 2:40pm On May 12, 2020 |
Godx: What's the difference between lampard and Drogba taking the penalty at that moment for you to say team first before personal glory? Drogba would have killed two birds with one stone. The difference between Drogba and Lampard is that Lampard is the no. 1 designated penalty taker. Drogba is number 2. Once Lampard is on the pitch, he takes the penalty. No debate. Any other person wanting to take penalty when Lampard is on the pitch is for personal glory. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 11:46am On May 12, 2020 |
Godx: Drogba and Lampard have actually fought over penalties before. Rooney and Drogba was fighting for golden boot and were tied on 26goals each on the last day of the season. Chelsea vs Wigan Drogba wanted to take the penalty to go above Rooney but lampard didn't allow him. Drogba ended up scoring an hatrick tho. I love what Lampard did that day. Team first before personal glory. And he later gave Drogba a penalty in that same match to complete his hattrick. |

The initial partial lockdown was a blessing in disguise for those of us with essential duty pass. I could connect CFC under 20 minutes from Rumuola. It's a much longer route but it's better than spending an hour in D-line wasting time and fuel. Elekahia was in total lockdown before Obio/Akpo and Phalga as a whole. Unless the relaxing tomorrow will affect them too. In that case Mile 1 will be relaxed too.... And if that is the case, na to blow Ikwerre road straight to town. |

eph12: My understanding of zonal marking, you mark the ball. Attack the ball if it gets to your zone. Man marking, your focus is more on the player you're marking. I may be wrong sha Simple. You can only lose your man while man marking. |

Expert17: Zonal- marking is not easy.
If you are well positioned in your Zone, you wont find it difficult.
Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic wont find it difficult to zone-mark That's not the answer to my question Can you use one second to identify a player moving into your zone, mark and win the ball off him? |

Expert17: So you expect Maguire to write admission exam before entering Rudiger zone...
Once a player enter your zone, .. Even if, it's 1 sec bfor the ball reach your zone....you are suppose to mark him. So you have to identify a player in your zone, mark him and win the ball in one sec? |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 10:37am On May 10, 2020 |
And for the sake of emphasis, this is your comment that brought about all this argument. Expert17: Put Terry, Cahill and Ivanovic with this same zonal marking.......... lets see if the problem will still be there
Zouma that will always jump before ball..............Rudiger will loose the player he is suppose to mark Did you make this comment having in mind a player who invades Rudiger's zone? A player he is suppose to mark here simply means a player he is assigned to man mark. |

Expert17: I think google cnt be wrong.
And my definition and explanation align with google..... when a player, enter your zone, you mark the player...if you cant do that, you may loose the player
Rudiger was at fault for Maguire's goal,... so this will help you understand. The first part of that definition have already told you what zonal marking is all about. You don't mark a player. You cover a zone. I don't know how you can lose a player you are not marking. I don tire abeg. |

Expert17: If you agree with this google definition......
when a player enter your zone,..... you are to mark the player.......so if the player beat you to the ball,...did you loose him?? I think I have answered that before. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by timbros(m): 10:04am On May 10, 2020 |
Expert17: Timbros,
I told you, sometimes the way opponent attacks set-piece will determine which marking style you will use.
The reason England were king of set-piece at 2018 world, was because they make opposition to zone -mark(which is very hard and confusing)
This is the goal Maguire scored against Sweden,.....look at the way england are lining up to attack the corner, Sweden was Man-marking instead of Zone-marking You just repeated what I said before. A coach will always have a tactic coming into a game. During the course of the game he might decide to tweak his approach if the tactic is not working. |
