omicron: it was an own goal. When a strike that was initially off-target gets deflected into goal, it is given as an own goal. Only when it was originally on-target that it is awarded to the striker. Emenike's free kick yesterday was clearly destined off-target, until the huge deflection. So in principle it was an own goal. I don't know if Caf awarded him the goal, cos they have the final say, regardless of what the broadcasters may have written on the screen.
