ThatKING: I really need this job. I don't really know why, but I keep thinking about not missing out on this opportunity. On Saturday I was sad when I heard just 400 Officers are needed in the whole country and when I did the calculations, I wasn't really impressed because I don't know anyone in high places except my height, 1.50meters We were 200 and something at my center but I really need this job. This is the closest I have ever been to having a job because I got all the questions right. I just hope that counts God created you and he has never forgotten you in any ways. Put your trust and confidence in Him and he will direct your path, make u excel and give you an expected end, Amen. |

Good morning sir, please can I have your number so as to discuss better. I'm also a Facility Manager of my company would love to shear ideas with you. You can whatsapp me on :09083493777 adekanmbi1986: 1. The fact that you have a job, even as Facility Manager without experience required thanksgiving , my advice is that you thank God first for the job. If you appreciate God for His finger, you will see His hand.
2. Try and garner experience on the job.
3. Take time to improve on yourself with basic FM trainings for now and gradually save to join the professional bodies for FM in Nigeria such as IFMA Nigeria, BIFM Nigeria, etc.
4. As time goes on, you will put in for the most recognized certification in Facility Management which is the FMP, and you become a hotcake in the industry.
Sir/Ma, I have some other things to say but I need to relax for now as I am not feeling well.
Note: I am a Facility Manager with just 7 Years of experience and have had he privilege to manage Residential Estates in Victoria Island, Ikoyi etc. Where I am presently is the second school I am working in the same capacity, and I give baba God the glory for the journey so far.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Don't Give Up: After Several Rejections, I Got A Good Job by Timothyoj(m): 2:13pm On Aug 18, 2018 |
nathanjohn2808: Some of you must have seen my previous post on how I lost several jobs, even after reaching final stage. https://www.nairaland.com/4603604/reached-final-stages-3-major After I posted this, I reached final stages of two more and it looked so sure but then again, I got rejection mail. Sometimes, the interviewers will tell me how impressed they were but still reject me. I was getting fed up. Every single week for three months, I would travel for one interview or the other, sometimes, two in a day and it all comes down to nothing. But I noticed a trend in my application, the companies just kept getting bigger, if a smaller company rejects me today, a bigger one will call me for interview and it just kept increasing until the best I applied. I reached final stage and was scared I will be rejected just like the others but eventually got accepted to the glory of God.
Let me give you my stats so you will understand better.
Congratulations bro, it shall be a lasting blessing and this would be the beginning of Gods blessings in your life.
Congratulations once again....1
More than 50 applications Over 30 assessment tests in 3 months About 25 interviews in the 3 months Over 100k spent in transport (for an unemployed somebody, this is huge) Reached final stages for 6 Got one
So never give up, life may be directing you, to me, I felt they were all preparing me for my dream job, and hell yea they were. People were getting concerned for me, how I was able to manage seeing rejections every single week but still dress up and go for just another interview with same enthusiasm. But after each rejection I just smile and say, 'that was not meant for me, it was just preparatory class' and the mindset worked. Thank God.
Never give up, never lose faith. |

Career › Re: Tips To Survive A Toxic Workplace by Timothyoj(m): 7:51am On Jul 07, 2018 |
Danurugwo: A toxic workplace is detrimental and has nothing in store for you than a bruised self-esteem. This not only stifles or kills your chances of building an innovative work life but leaves you preoccupied with the thoughts and fear of virtually everything that could go wrong. Toxic workplaces have a notorious reputation of being a breeding ground for toxic leadership, dysfunctional colleagues, favouritism, sickening policies and depressing procedures.
Working in an environment filled with such infighting, drama, powerplay and battles against a multitude of personalities is not just dysfunctional to your career but will eventually hurt your productivity and mindset.
The good news is that a toxic workplace can be your stepping stone to something better; specifically, a better work environment. If you presently find yourself in a toxic workplace, here’s how to survive it and plan your exit to better things.
Start With Yourself
When you find yourself in a situation you can’t control, the best thing to do is to control what you can and in this case, that thing is you. In a toxic workplace, practice mindfulness. You need to constantly remind yourself that you are in a work environment. Don’t be impulsive or careless with your reaction to the words and actions of the toxic elements in your workplace. Learn to master your temper. Before you speak when provoked, take a deep breath and count 1-10 within yourself.
This state of mind will save you from the familiar heartbreak and hurt that comes from individuals in such environments. Let your countenance, body language and actions remain professional, especially with the words you utter in any form of business communication. Protect yourself, guard your happiness and don’t flip.
Document Everything
An important thing to do when you find yourself working in a toxic environment is to document everything. Keep track of tasks, achievements and if possible, any form of abuse. They would be your proof in situations where you have to defend yourself in an official capacity.
Ensure all the tasks and projects you receive are clearly communicated via formal channels not verbally. If anything is communicated to you verbally, send an email to the person involved to ensure that it is documented. The idea is to be able to have everything officially documented.
Exit Your Toxic Workplace
In a toxic workplace, strive to put in your very best and keep things professional but it’s even more important to begin to plan your exit. When you are in a toxic workplace environment, staying longer than necessary is not an option. However, to exit, you will need a plan. Get your CV out and update it.
Be strategic with your job search and applications. Don’t apply for anything to avoid stepping into the same boat twice. Most times, you will have to work on your confidence level and bring it a few notches higher. This will prove crucial in getting you job interviews and get you closer to landing a better job.
Take a good look at your skill set and see if there are relevant training
you can take to upgrade your employability in the estimation of potential employers. Don’t forget to rewrite your CV in Nigeria. There are specialists who can help you with this for a reasonable fee.
In conclusion, a good job search should always feel like a job in itself because at the end of the day, only outstanding candidates with the land the job. Don’t stay stuck in a workplace that consistently leaves you emotionally bruised. A toxic workplace is dangerous to your career. Now is the best time to retrace your steps and make more informed decisions because better workplace opportunities await you.
