You see when people treat others like trash it doesnt come from a place of weakness. It comes from a place of seeing yourself above that person or a place of envy to the extent you don't care about the humanity in them. That is exactly how predators reason. Given that Michael is man, shouldn't he have handles it logically instead of emotionally. The fist time Sarah seduced him, he didn't end up acting sex with her because Claire entered. After he pushed his wife and she lost her pregnancy, his first issue, he never tried to set things straight and reevaluate his circumstances. Bad things start small, yes... But infidelity is not the same thing as rape. Infidelity does not lead to rape.
