After he pushed his wife and she lost her pregnancy, his first issue, he never tried to set things straight and reevaluate his circumstances. Sarah didn't tell him to not to mistreat his wife, did she? All that she offered was sex. Did Sarah ask him to rape Getrude, their maid too? Did Sarah asked him to have sex with his wife's sister when he could have avoided it?

Bad things start small, yes... But infidelity is not the same thing as rape. Infidelity does not lead to rape. Infidelity also get level, sleeping with an outsider is different from sleeping with your wife's sister. Infidelity is also not the same thing as domestic abuse. Claire could have does if she hasn't gotten through to Phillips. Micheal is a beast that do not care about Claire. Simple as a ABC, stop trying to justify what is not. I've not seen the end of the story but I don't think you r promoting rape, adultery and domestic violence...pls disregard that. These things are what is plaguing our society today and why many marriages are crumbling...so I don't think anyone would promote that. Well, you could pray that either of the unfortunate situation befall your sisters. Afterwards, tell them that they should forgive because others have done something worse and they were forgiven.

Perhaps you are one of those people who consciously and willfully hurt others and seek forgiveness because they must forgive na, they have no choice what is done is done. They must move on by force or by fire. So tell me, what are you? A murderer? Rapist? Violent man? Paedophile? Oya tell me, so that we can tell your victims to forgive.

If you can think, you would know that given our society where rape, domestic abuse and infidelity are seen as normal, it is paramount that every human try as much as possible to show how inhumane these acts are especially doestoc abuse and rape. People die everyday from both. There are for victims whose lives have been destroyed because of their experience and the silent culture our society encourages. Many victims of domestic abuse die everyday all over the world, if 2 women die every week from domestic abuse in UK, can you imagine what for on Nigeria? Do you know why most of them stayed. You see when people treat others like trash it doesnt come from a place of weakness. "Gertrude, I want to thank you for the time you spent here, helping me take care of my home. I pray that God blesses you abundantly as you go in search of greener pastures." Claire said

She thanked him and put the money and cheque into her handbag.

Claire nodded and sat down on her former position, resuming her breakfast.

"Uhm, Gertrude." Micheal stuttered

Everyone turned to him including Claire.

Ebere and Chika came to her and together, they left the dinning area.

Claire and Kelvin stared at Kelvin. Claire was ignorant of Gertrude's reason for acting that way. But Kelvin knew and he didn't blame the poor girl.




Micheal felt insulted. How could she make a fool out of him like that? He cast his anger and frustration on his plate of yam and egg sauce. Stupid! He cursed.
He stood up and left the dinning, feeling two pairs if eyes digging a hole at his back.




He got to his room, cursing Gertrude. She had made a fool out of him, how dare she.
He was about hitting his fist on the wall when kelvin came into the room and locked the door.

"Did you see that cheap thing? That nobody, she made a fool out of me in front of those house girls. She's lucky she's already leaving or else......."

"You would have raped her again?" Kelvin shot at him.

He turned to kelvin in shock, so she told him.

Know this, readers opinion varies. Some are awesomly encouraging while others are not. Sometimes a story stirs up a readers emotions especially when the story strays from an already constructed plot in his/her head. This can lead the reader to vent out anger and frustration, not against you but against the story. The funny thing is, this people don't leave the story, they still check up on it continuosly showing that they love you but the story dey make them vex

I didn't stir anything. One cannot advocate against something again abi what....Imagine action fuels reality and such imagination that will encourage such vices which are already prevalent in our society should not be encouraged whatsoever. I don't need to be a victim to feel for victims. H

There are people on this thread who have wished for a wife like Claire and those who have urged the writer to make Claire stay and build her home and those who choose to overlook Michael's attitudes because it is his weaknesses and he was not like that before so Claire should forgive him OR is it not on this same forum people support domestic abuse, rape and infidelity? And I also know this imagination is exactly what goes in in real life therefore I have every right and duty to speak against it imagination or not. Imagination that encourages such vices should be criticized and I will do my best when I have the time and energy for it.

The guy I quoted said I was too bitter about this story. I didn't even take it as an offenc because it is not. It is a good compliment which I am proud of. I don't mind being bitter about domestic abuse, infidelity and rape. Bitterness for such vices is a good trait.
