supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto
with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints. Ephesians 6:18. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Prayer produces power in
the life of a Christian. It has been established that men and women of
prayer are men and women of power. Prayer
produces power in the life of a Christian. One typical example of a man whose prayer life
produced power was Paul the Apostle. In 1
Corinthians 14:18, the Bible makes it clear that Paul
prayed in tongues more than the whole church of
the Corinthians; he was literally praying always.
What a mobile prayer dynamo he was! In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Paul admonished the
Thessalonians to pray without ceasing. He was
telling them his practice. No wonder, he was a man
who exported power, even the power of the
Gospel of Christ to the Gentiles to such a point that
handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were
cured and the evil spirits left them (Acts 19:12). Demons were checked out because he prayed in
tongues more than every other person in his days.
This was a man who was stoned and left to die but
woke up and said, ‘Let us go to the next city for
crusade.’ (Acts 14:19-20 paraphrased). Beloved, your life shall produce power as you
embark on persistent prayer from today, in Jesus’
Name. Remember this: Prayer produces power in the life

unto the humble. James 4:6 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Pride is the foundation for
destruction. It is important to know that satan, being envious
of your glorious position in Christ, is working
every day to ensure you lose it. One of the
weapons he uses to achieve that is pride. Being
once with God in heaven and having lost his place
through pride, he works every day in order to make us also lose our place with God in heaven
through the weapon of pride. Now, what is pride? It is the tendency to feel
bigger than you are. It is an exaggerated opinion
or inflated idea of oneself. Pride makes you look
down and talk down on people. It makes you give
yourself credit for what God is doing. It gives you
an arrival mentality. It makes you immune to counsel. It makes your life to revolve only around
yourself; pride is the worship of self. Pride is the most dangerous and destructive
character trait anyone can possess. It is a major
factor in the abortion of destiny (Isaiah 14:12-15,

Answer: The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the
dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am
the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old
Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23– 25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should raise some
questions. The New Testament does not say
anything about whether or not a believer
should get a tattoo. We do have this command in 1 Peter 3:3–4: “Your beauty should not come from outward
adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and
the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the
unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit,
which is of great worth in God’s sight.” Granted, this passage is directed at Christian women, but
there is a principle here that may be apropos:
namely, a person’s external appearance should
not be the focus of our attention. Much effort
goes into “elaborate hairstyles” and “fine
clothes” and jewelry, but that’s not where a woman’s true beauty lies. In the same way,
tattoos and body piercings are “outward
adornment,” and we should be careful to give
more effort to the development of the “inner
self,” regardless of our gender. In relation to tattoos and body piercings, a
good test is to determine whether we can
honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless
and use that particular activity for His own
good purposes. “So whether you eat or drink
or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). The New Testament does not specifically command
against tattoos or body piercings, but it also
does not give us any reason to believe God
would have us get tattoos or body piercings. An important scriptural principle on issues the
Bible does not specifically address is if there is
room for doubt whether it pleases God, then it
is best not to engage in that activity. Romans 14:23 reminds us that anything that does not come from faith is sin. We need to remember
that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been
redeemed and belong to God. Although 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 does not directly apply to tattoos or body piercings, it does give us a
principle: “Do you not know that your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom
you have received from God? You are not your
own; you were bought at a price. Therefore
honor God with your body.” This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and
where we go with our bodies. If our bodies
belong to God, we should make sure we have
His clear “permission” before we “mark them

ugly situations of life: You may wonder why a
young lady who is very beautiful and educated is
finding it difficult to settle down in marriage. A
young man may be a First Class graduate, yet he
finds it hard to get a job despite all his effort. What about a young lady who got married as virgin but
has been battling with childlessness in marriage
for years?
How can one describe this kind of situation or
condition of life? It is called mystery! A mystery is an issue that is clothed in darkness; it
is something in your life that cannot be
understood. When the secret behind your predicament is
hidden from you, until it is revealed, you will keep
struggling despite your effort. Beloved, only God can unveil and dissolve the

world is a life that is passionate for vanity and
passionless for spirituality. Note that, the cares of the world are the enemies of
true spirituality. The pursuit for the latest fashions
and fads of this life, the craving to belong and the
struggle for the things that this world has to offer
are the enemies of true spirituality. Our anchor
Scripture talks about the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and the lust for other
things. Lust is an inordinate affection for that which we are
not licensed to get. It is possible to use money to
serve God, but you cannot serve God and money.
It is possible to master the things of this world and
it is possible to be mastered by the things of this
world. Beloved, be focused on God despite the
distractions in the world. Remember this: It is possible to use money to serve
God, but you cannot serve God and money. ASSIGNMENT:
Refuse to have your passion and affection centred
on the transient vanities of this life because
