Adebowale Ibidapo Adefuye, a historian who served as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States, has died in Washington, DC, SaharaReporters just learned. Mr. Adefuye died at a yet to be disclosed hospital in the US, a source in the US told our correspondent. Mr. Adefuye was recalled to Nigeria after President Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in as President. He was still waiting to hand over to a new ambassador when he suddenly died today. A former professor of history, Mr. Adefuye was in 2010 appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan as Nigeria’s ambassador in the US. An outspoken person and fierce defender of Nigeria, the deceased diplomat tackled critics of Nigeria in the US. He vociferously lobbied against Nigeria’s classification as “a country of interest” in America’s terrorism watch list. Mr. Adefuye hailed from Ijebu-Igbo in 1947, and studied at the University of Ibadan where he earned his first degree in 1969 as well as a PhD in history in 1973. He also received a Fulbright Fellowship that enabled him to do research work at Columbia University, the University of North Florida, and the University of Florida in Gainesville. Ambassador Adefuye, who wrote several history texts, taught at the University of Lagos, earning a professorship and heading the History Department 1985 to 1987. Prior to his appointment to Nigeria’s Embassy in Washington, DC, Mr. Adefuye served as his country’s ambassador to Jamaica (where he was concurrently accredited to Haiti and Belize) from 1987 to 1991. In 1991, he was appointed Nigeria’s Deputy High Commissioner in the U.K., leaving to work for fourteen years as a Deputy Director at the Commonwealth. On leaving the Commonwealth, the former professor accepted a position as an advisor at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Source: http://www.nigerianewsheadlines.com/?p=7112

On Saturday, an Indiana woman, Jessica Hayes, 38, married Jesus, the son of God in downtown Fort Wayne and become a consecrated virgin. [Read more...] Consecrated virgins are similar to nuns in that they live chaste lives. But they do not live in convents and they are not obliged to take on any particular work for the Catholic Church. Jessica Hayes, 38, who is a theology teacher at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne, said she decided to become an consecrated virgin after years of prayer and soul-searching. And for the occassion, wore a wedding dress. She says she will continue to live her normal life at home - only now she will not be able to get married to anyone else or to have sex for the rest of her life. 'My students asked if they should call me Mrs. Hayes when I come back to school next week, and no, I’m still Ms. But I am married to Jesus.' As a consecrated virgin, Hayes may not have 'knowing and deliberately' engaged in sexual relations in the past. 'I think that in some sense, we’re all called to be married. It’s just a matter of discerning how. So, my marriage is to Christ and someone else’s marriage is to their spouse,' she told WANE. Saturday's ceremony was conducted by Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He said: 'It seems most appropriate that Jessica gives herself totally to Jesus, is consecrated to a life of virginity.' Hundreds of people attended the service - most of whom were strangers to the bride. She said most turned up because they were 'interested' - and she was pleased with the turnout. 'Now that I’ve made a public commitment, that’s really an encouragement to me to live up to that because people know that this is who I am and my life needs to be lived in conformity with that,' she explained. 'So, it’s one more step in that direction that others expect this way of life from me and I need to live consistently in my words and actions that love for Jesus. 'I’m so happy to have had so many witnesses (at the wedding) because there may be others that the Lord is calling in this way that have now heard of this life and can consider it in their prayer.' Like most brides, Hayes spent a long time worrying about what dress to wear. Since she would have to lie prostrate on the church's floor at one point, she figured a long conservative dress would fit the bill. 'I’ve seen so many wedding dresses over the years that I think I’ve probably changed my mind very many times,' she told WANE. 'I had to really consider the appropriateness of the occasion for my dress. 'I wanted my shoulders to be covered, and I would have to lie prostrate before the altar, so I really wanted to make sure that I was well-covered in a way that still shows the beauty of a bride.' She chose a pair of nude heels to go with her dress, and wore her shoulder-length hair in loose curls. During the service of consecration, the virgins must resolve to 'persevere to the end of their days in the holy state of virginity and in the service of God and his Church'. They must also accept 'solemn consecration as a bride of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God'. http://www.nigerianewsheadlines.com/?p=6209

whether you're starting a new relationship or already married, there are some things that don't change, like the need to feel sexy, appreciated and needed. And it's not just women who want these things — men do too! Below are seven things you can say to a man, at any stage of your love life, that will leave him glowing. 1. "You look great." Men have insecurities, just like women. And whether he shows it or not, sometimes he's wondering if his shirt looks better tucked in or out, or if his belly is sticking out a little too far over his belt. This is an especially good compliment if he's been going to the gym — why do you think he's doing all that working out? 2. "I love your [insert body part]." Sometimes it helps to get specific—see the above tip. And, we're not gonna lie, one of the best fill-in-the-blanks here is, "I love your you-know-what" (or whatever word you can say without laughing or blushing too much.) Men are sensitive about their manly bits and they want to know that you're attracted to what they have. 3. "I love it when you [insert action]." This is one that can benefit you as much as him. Men are the traditional initiators, and even if your man isn't the one to make the first move, chances are he sometimes feels like he should. If you don't tell him what you like, he's just flying blind. In fact, if you haven't complimented him he might even think you don't like what he's doing. And of course, the more you tell him you love it when he scratches your lower back, or runs your fingers along your chest, the more he'll do it. 4. "That woman just checked you out." Yes, this helps his self-confidence. But it also tells him that you just saw another woman looking at him and you're not afraid to tell him. It shows that you're confident enough to know that he won't be lured away by another gal. Plus, what guy can resist the thought women are giving him the once-over? 5. "You're right." We all like to be right, men included. And you know what? Sometimes they are. It probably happens less often than he thinks, but when he is right, it's nice to tell him, especially if you were arguing. Sure, it might make you feel a little sheepish, but it's worth it in the end. It'll make him feel good, and showing that you're a reasonable creature who can admit when you're wrong will help temper future disagreements. 6. "Will you help me unscrew this?" Men like to feel manly. It might not be PC, but it's ingrained in our culture. Helping women with simple tasks makes them feel macho and noble. We're not saying you should ask him to do things you can easily do yourself, but if you do need assistance, it's a little ego-booster he'll be happy to accept. Parents and intending parents in the house, please take note of this. this lil angel pictured above was left blind in one eye after a family friend forgot to turn off his camera flash while taking a close-up photograph. Doctors said the three-month-old, who has not been named, has suffered irreparable damage from the flash of the camera, which was held about 10 inches away from the baby boy. The parents noticed that there was something wrong with their baby's vision soon after the photograph was taken, reported the People's Daily Online. Following the incident, the baby suffered from reduced vision in his left eye and blindness in his right eye. The damage is said to be permanent and cannot be fixed with surgery, DailyMailUK adds. The strong flash has damaged cells on the macula, which is the part of the eye where incoming light rays are focused. Damage to the macula can lead to the loss of central vision, which allows people to see straight ahead. The macula is not fully developed until children are four, meaning youngsters are very sensitive to strong light.Experts have said that while babies will shut their eyes when exposed to light on reflex, just milliseconds of strong light can cause permanent damage. They added that parents should be careful of strong bathroom lights when their babies are taking a bath. It is not clear whether the family friend will face any legal action following the incident. What would you do if you were this baby's mum or dad? Source:http://www.nigerianewsheadlines.com/?p=3616

See the fools anaconda sef! Got this from PuoReports and strange things they say do happen and hasn't stooped. According to their report, the youths in Isiaku, Alayi Community in Bende Local Government Area of Abia yesterday pummeled a man whose name is still unknown for mystically stealing a 7 year old boys 'play stick' aka 'carrot'. The news is that the man is said to have been banished from the community 7 years ago over similar acts and sacrilege, but the expiration of the years made the community to allow him back again, but it seemed the man was still far from repentance" explained a resident in the community. The angry youths who descended on the suspect, seems adamant to take laws into their hands as many of them angrily asked those who told them to invite the police, to go away pointing out that the man has committed the crime more than once and the community can no longer fold their hands. The suspect is a business man who sales already made clothes popularly called (Okarika Cloths) in Alayi Market with a small boy and they are believed to be Homosexuals living together as Lovers. The Alayi community police is yet to respond to the matter and the 7 year old boy whose 'carrot' was stolen is still recuperating in the hospital. Source>>http://www.nigerianewsheadlines.com/?p=3546

Nigeria’s wartime leader, Gen Yakubu Gowon, says “Nigeria is better off with Igbos.” He spoke while delivering an oration at the burial service for Chief (Mrs.) Chinyere Asika, wife of the former Sole Administrator of East Central State; just as the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, described the deceased as a woman who exemplified the virtue of patience, charity and humility. The service took place at the All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Onitsha, Anambra State. Gowon’s declaration was borne out of a deep appreciation of the commitment and sacrifice of the deceased and her husband, Ajie Ukpabi Asika, to the survival of Nigeria as one entity. The former Head of State recalled that when he proposed the post of Sole Administrator of East Central State, Asika told me, “I prefer to do this for the good of Igbo people.” He went on: “I was struggling to get an administrator for the newly created East Central State when the name of the late Ukpabi Asika came up. He was then a lecturer at Ibadan. When we met, I did not know which one of us was younger. But he exuded strength of character and understanding, and wanted to start work immediately. I cautioned him to think about it. I told him, `you must consult your brothers, and your wife to know if you would accept’. I came away convinced that this was the man I needed. “I did not know how to place his wife, Chinyere, but when she arrived from Kenya, she plunged head-on into the idea. She was a courageous woman, caring and humble. I remember her efforts in “Otu Olu Obodo”- a public service initiative which she used as a tool of empowerment for her Igbo kinsmen and women.” Obiano told the children and the Asika family to imbibe the virtues of patience, charity and humility from Mrs Asika, while urging the congregation and Ndi Anambra to remember “her good deeds and pray for the repose of her soul.” The service was attended by many prominent personalities including a former Minister of Defence, Gen T.Y. Danjuma, who represented President Muhammadu Buhari. Source>>>http://www.nigerianewsheadlines.com/?p=3362

The family home of Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai in Buratai village, Borno State alongside other houses were on Tuesday razed to the ground by suspected members of the Boko Haram sect. This attack comes two days after the Army chief vowed to compel the insurgents to beg for peace. Buratai was not present at the time of the attack in the early hours, Reuters reportedTuesday quoting security sources. Speaking Sunday, the new Chief of Army said under his command, Boko Haram would either beg for peace or face the wrath of highly motivated and combat ready soldiers. The Borno State-born Major General, who took over command of the nation’s army last week, said he was ready to lead soldiers to the dens and enclaves of the insurgents. He re-christened the operational code of the counter insurgency efforts from “Operation Zaman Lafiya” to “Operation Zaman Lafiya Dole” – which in Hausa means ‘the quest for peace becomes a must’. Source>>>http://www.nigerianewsheadlines.com/?p=2951 Buratai, who was in neighbouring Yobe State to celebrate the Islamic eid-el-fitri festival with Nigerian troops, moved to Borno on Sunday afternoon.“As Chief of Army Staff, I will be actively involved in this ‘Operation Zaman Lafiya Dole’ to end the madness of Boko Haram if I will have your collective maximum support and cooperation,” he said. “Since Boko Haram terrorists have refused peace (Zaman Lafiya), we will now force them to accept peace. “The peace that permeated Borno and transcended Lake Chad will soon return. My wish was to clear Konduga of Boko Haram vestige so that people can return home to rebuild their houses,” the army chief added.
