Here are some pictures and a statement by the Nigerian Defence Headquarters on the military action that reclaimed three towns in Adamawa state from Boko Haram on Monday November 16th.


The pictures here are from the military operations in Gombi, Pelia and Hong in Adamawa State, where the Nigerian troops mercilessly dealt with the terrorists with the recovery of the towns as well as their destroyed vehicles, hideouts, weapons and ammunitions. While some of the terrorists have been captured alive others were killed in the operation. The Nigerian troops too could be seen in action.

The ongoing military operations in the North-Eastern Nigeria is to clear all areas infested by terrorists.

Mopping up exercise is ongoing in the areas while the troops are moving to other communities in what a top security officer described as 'Operation No Mercy against Terrorists."

The mother of the former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and current member of the House, Hon Remmy Hassan has been released by her kidnappers. The woman, who was kidnapped on October 1st at her Omu-Ijebu residence was released in the early hours of this morning. The kidnappers initially demanded N50million but it is not clear if the family paid the ransom.

An African American Passenger travelling to the Dominican Republic was thrown out of a plane after sneezing and jokingly saying he is from Africa. His statement caused Ebola panic among passengers and the airplane crew and caused authorities to isolate the plane for more than an hour on the tarmac.
According to NBC news, as the plane touched down in the Dominican Republic, he sneezed and yelled out, “I have Ebola...I’ve been to Africa!,”...

The flight attendants immediately alerted Health officials who came in full protective gear(above) and bundled him out of the plane .
Despite his pleas that he was joking and had never been to Africa, he was whisked away.
He kept yelling "I ain't from Africa. Shit!"as the fellow passengers hurled insults in him.

Below is the Certified True Copy of the Court Order of Justice Ademola of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja wherein the Court removed the Acting Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and ordered the immediate swearing-in of Barrister Bala Nggilari as the substantive Governor of Adamawa State. The Court granted the following prayers of the Plaintiff (Bar. Bala Nggilari) filed by his counsel, Festus Keyamo:

1. “A DECLARATION that by the combined provisions of section 306 (1), (2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) the Plaintiff (Barr. Bala James Nggilari), as Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, did not resign his office by addressing a letter of resignation dated 15th July, 2014 to the 1stDefendant (Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly).

2. A DECLARATION that by the combined provisions of section 306 (1), (2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) the purported resignation of the Plaintiff as Deputy Governor of Adamawa State did not take effect when the purported Letter of Resignation was received by the 1st Defendant (Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly) on the 15th of July, 2014.

3. A DECLARATION that by the combined provisions of section 306 (1), (2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) the declaration of the office of the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State (then occupied by the Plaintiff) vacant on the 15th of July, 2014 vide the Votes and Proceedings of the 2ndDefendant of same day is unconstitutional, illegal, null and void.

4. A DECLARATION that by the sequence of the legislative business of the 2nd Defendant as contained in the transcript of the Votes and Proceedings of the Adamawa State House of Assembly (2nd Defendant) of Tuesday, July 15th, 2014, the 5th Defendant (Murtala Nyako) was still the Governor of Adamawa State at the time the 1st and 2nd Defendants received, accepted and acted upon the purported letter of resignation of the Plaintiff (Barr. Bala James Nggilari) to declare his seat vacant.

A DECLARATION that by the combined provisions of section 191(1) and 306 (1), (2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the swearing-in of the 3rdDefendant (Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru) as Acting Governor of Adamawa State on 15th of July, 2014 is illegal and unconstitutional.

8. A DECLARATION that, by the provision of section 191(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the 6th Defendant cannot conduct any election to fill the office of the Governor of Adamawa State after the impeachment of Murtala Nyako, as the Deputy Governor (Barr. Bala James Nggilari) did not resign from that office as strictly stipulated by section 306 (1), (2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).


9. AN ORDER of injunction restraining the 6th Defendant (INEC) whether by itself, its agents, servants, privies, officers or otherwise howsoever, from conducting a bye-election to fill the office of the Governor of Adamawa State as a consequence of the impeachment of the 5th Defendant (Murtala Nyako) and the purported/unconstitutional resignation of the Plaintiff (Barr. Bala James Nggilari) as Deputy Governor of Adamawa State.

10. AN ORDER of this Honorable Court removing the 3rd Defendant (Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru) as the Acting Governor of Adamawa State forthwith.

11. AN ORDER of this Honorable Court directing the Chief Judge of Adamawa State (or Acting Chief Judge, as the case may be) or the President of the Customary Court of Appeal to swear in Barr. Bala James Nggilari (the Plaintiff) IMMEDIATELY as the substantive Governor of Adamawa State.”

Boko Haram militants killed seven people early on Monday in the remote northeast of Nigeria, residents and an official said, with reports indicating the victims were beheaded in a revenge attack.
The overnight raid targeted the town of Ngamdu in troubled Borno state, the area hardest hit in the Islamists’ five-year uprising.

When locals woke they discovered “seven people had been brutally killed”, said resident Musa Abor.
The gunmen “slit their (victims) throats just the way people slaughter goats”, he added.
Abor and a Borno state official, who asked that his name be withheld, said the bodies had been decapitated, in the latest act of gruesome violence blamed on the Islamists who have killed more than 10,000 people since 2009.

In recent months, Boko Haram insurgents have targeted reprisal attacks at locals who have fought alongside the military as vigilantes.


An army officer in Borno, who also requested anonymity, said 15 Boko Haram fighters were killed in clashes in Ngamdu two weeks ago and the group had vowed revenge against the community.
Those killed on Monday could not immediately be identified as vigilantes and the defence ministry was not available to comment on the attack or the alleged beheadings.
The violence came as Nigerian Muslims marked the Eid al-Adha festival, a public holiday in the religiously divided country. Most Islamic holidays in recent years have been marred by Boko Haram violence.

The militants are thought to be in control of more than two dozen towns and villages in the northeast, but the military has vowed to retake all lost ground as part of a continuing offensive launched in May of last year.

The military had imposed a travel ban across Borno and neighbouring Yobe state to last through the Eid holiday to guard against insurgent attacks.
But the measure is almost impossible to enforce in the remote region, where analysts say the army does not have enough troops on the ground to patrol a vast area with a terrible road network and poor mobile phone coverage.
