Family / Re: My Husband Said He Will Raise My Kids To Challenge Me And Be Rude To Me. by tmanuelle(m): 5:03pm On Dec 13, 2019
Fountainofyouth:

I have noticed one trend with so called males here, they usually type @emboldened when it is a female stating her issues, but when it's a male, their functioning brain goes on hibernation, SMH!!

If you want to hear the other side of the story, kindly get in touch with the horseband, and bring him here to say his version, in the meantime, this is all we have, if you are not satisfied with her version, don't even try to comment, and the next time you see a female thread stating her sad family issues, kindly jump and pass.

Are you married? Or are you simply one of those ladies out there who deliberately ignore the objectiveness of a criticism so long it doesn't stroke their big ego? You don't have to be defensive.

The woman have said her side of the story, no one is judging her since no one have heard from the husband. It's only normal and logical to explore her story for POSSIBLE things that may be responsible for the family issue and proffer POSSIBLE solution(s). And I think that was the reason why she came here in the first place.

@OP, God is your strength, it's not healthy to bring in kids into issues like this, any sane mind will not do it for their sake. There are underlying issues which resulted into your husband making such threats, I may be wrong, these are just manifestation of some unresolved issues between you two that have lingered for too long.

You need to look inwards, humble yourself, respect him more and talk things through with him. Your husband is your husband o, you should know him better than the rest of us. God will uphold your family IJN. 10 years nor be here o.

Family / Re: How Can I Stop Loving This Other Man. by tmanuelle(m): 2:49pm On Dec 12, 2019
Olannajewel:
Please pardon my very long post. I also had to open another account so as to post this.
I am in my mid 20s been married for 5years with two kids.
Have been in a long distance marriage since I got married due to the fact that I have been running a degree programme which will come to an end by next year.
So,I practically see my husband when we're on holidays or during strike. But we talk every time, I'm in the east schooling and he's in the south. My husband provides more than the basic needs,he's a great husband and a good father.
I know I sound selfish, but he doesn't satisfy my emotional needs, and he agrees to it.. whenever we call it's just about the kids and my school, we don't talk personal stuffs, he's not passionate, he finds it difficult saying "I love you " unlike before. He doesn't indulge me when I say it also... when I try to sex chat with him, he shifts it away. Whenever we're on holidays and am home, he doesn't also give me time, his work is not flexible but the little opportunity he gets he would rather go out.
No woman calls him in my present, but there's been incidents that has prompted me doubt his fidelity. After I gave birth in March,I went back to school because the strike was called of.i became depressed, I will talk with my husband yet I felt he was emotionally distance from me, sometimes during argument he would flay up and rain abuses on me... during love making with my husband, he cant even keep an eye contact or reply the "I love you " I say to him during sex. Ps:my husband is in his mid 30s.
He doesn't notice any effort I make as a young wife to keep the spark in our marriage. In July, guy chat me up from a group on telegram.. I haven't seen this guy, but I would have seen him if he's close.we have been talking every day for 5months,chatting, sexchating, video calls,he tells me everything a woman wants to hear. He doesn't know am married. I'm in too deep, how do I stop loving him, I love my husband too,but he's not making any effort towards romance in our marriage.. please I need advice, insult, anything that can get me back on track. I know am cheating emotionally on my husband, but talking with this other man has kept me sane amidst all the challenges I have. How do I stop this, cause recently I noticed I cant stand conversation with my husband, not that we discuss anything that makes me feel like a woman. Please help!!

Sincerely, first you were too emotionally young to be married in the first place as at the time you did, if you weren't, you could have prevented this or at least put in place a mechanism to neutralise such. Students are always in for the boyfriend-girlfriend thing, they want emotionally commited boy who will at the same time take care of their material needs at every point (all for their ego) while it lasts. But in a marriage situation, a mature spouse will create time and space to talk things through and be willing to adjust everything even when it's most inconvenient for the sake of the marriage rather than seeking solace in the arms of another. Being emotionally mature for marriage is relative as it has nothing to do with age. Some got married in their late teens and they are doing very well.

Secondly, you are the architect of these whole thing, from your write up you got married just immediately after you got an admission if you have been married for five years and you will soon graduate provided it's a 4-year programme. You were too far away from your husband and it's not in anyway healthy for your young marriage. An unguided or undisciplined husband is most likely to deviate or lose it in a situation like this especially at that stage of the marriage. You exposed him to whatever vices that got him emotionally detached from you by being away most of the time and ofcourse, someone will always fill the gap...that's the bitter truth. He is hurting, and since he can't voice it out or vent his anger, he will do it quietly...I just hope he doesn't have another family already unknown to you.

Solution is: Cut ties with your boyfriend, forgive yourself, time and events will pass and your conscience will adjust too, face your husband (once again) tell him your worries, ask him to bear with you this next few months of schooling and you will fully resume your wifely duties at home and he will enjoy his God-given wife to the fullest, above all, always make yourself available at his call/beckon. Appreciate every little thing, his support for your education, the kids and every other sacrifices he has made for you in the course of your education (you think it's easy to spend time and money on a wedding/marriage and still be living like a bachelor?) rather than chasing some fantasies upandan.

Shalom

You guys just don't want to understand anything, nothing was banned and you can still import rice through our ports and pay the normal tariffs to the government but you cannot smuggle it in after paying the tariffs to the Benin rep government and moreover the FG wants Nigeria to be self sufficient in rice production

.

Alternatives like what? If FG says don't import or export through land border, do it via the seaports. What other alternative are you talking about?

People like you are the reasons why a few people are short-changing the rest of us by not paying duties in this country because of their smuggling activities.

People like you encouraged the smuggling of our PMS across the borders to Niger and other neighboring countries at the expense of our common good. If you want to bring in anything, bring it in through the ports.

People like you are the reasons why an average petrol dealer or petrol station owner will deliberately hoard fuel in his dump (even when FG keeps shouting everyday that we have abundant supply) thereby creating artificial scarcity just to make more money.

We say no to rice importation using our ForEx when we have rice in this country. If you want to import foreign rice please be our guest, but it has to be via the ports. Just because the FG closed the borders, people like you started inflating the price of the rice (both foreign and local) we already have in circulation.

This government made certain errors in some policies I agree but then, no good policy of this administration is ever good enough for your kind.

Na your way sha, we understand.

Daddy freeze is 100% correct only a dumb fool will carry his 25 million naira to go buy an innoson crappy car and I weep for the 240 million voters, sorry ooooo undecided

I don't totally agree with his first point. Freeze forgot to note that the just concluded BBN was a 14-week programme and voting took place in at least 10 weeks while the Presidential Election took place in just a weekend. This naturally will have the BBN votes to run in multiples of what obtained during the election.

Secondly, Freeze in his analysis also forgot that a single vote via MyDStv and MyGOtv apps is an equivalent of 100 votes according to Ebuka as against the normal voting via SMS, so he should be reminded that some people voted through these platforms. Let's assume I voted through either of these platforms for 10weeks of voting, then my total votes will be 1000 votes, just imagine how many more Multichoice customers are out there.

Therefore its not about Nigerian youths not voting the younger candidates. Its about the length of voting period and the voting platforms.

Let's not even talk about the very rigorous voters registration and PVC collection exercises which is not as easy compared to voting from the comfort of your sitting room.

Nice words! You are correct! The non-indomie generation destroyed the last of the good days before the "Indomie" generation came forth. The Indomie generation hence does not have any reference to when Nigeria was good.

Unfortunately, the term "Indomie Generation" is used mainly by those who grew up at the tail end of the peak of Nigeria's prosperity. The far much older non-indomie generation would never call you "Indomie generation": they would rather call you children.

Those who call you Indomie generation didn't spoil your world but they were privileged to see, partake but not influence they system. In their life span, they saw things collapse to an unbelievable state. Those who call you Indomie generation are the bridge between the Old Nigeria and the New Nigeria. They were the transition generation who experienced both worlds.

Those who destroyed Nigeria are too old to call you INDOMIE. And it isn't your fault anyway: it's only that many Indomie Generation speak with no reference to standards.

You have spoken well

I concur, my very first knowledge of Indomie noodles was around 1994, my brother just came back from the Boarding House after his SSCE, so he brought back his cupboard stocked with Indomie packs.

Back to the original post, in my own opinion, Indomie Generation children are children who were born between mid 90s and now. The did not witness many of the things the older generations saw or witnessed while growing up...

The military coups and the juntas
When Chris Okotie was a secular singer...
The days of WAI (Environmental Sanitation) when you just have to comply by fire by force
The June 12, 1993 and the aftermath...
The NTA, the programmes regular news casters...Ruth Benamaisia Opia, Frank Olize, Tokunbo Ajai, Namsel Nimyel...
The colour streams that comes up on our TV screens before 4pm and after 12am
The coins...
Gogo Sweet, Eyin Alanga, Jet Bubble Gum...
Soft drinks like Vinto, Crush, Africola, Fanta Ginger Ale...
Big TV boxes with their own doors...LOL
NITEL phone boxes and big telephone directory
When Permanent Secretaries were called Director Generals
When Land Rover utility vehicles were the project vehicles unlike now, all u see is Toyota Hilux at the MDAs
When Peugeot 504 saloon/wagon cars were government official vehicles in the Ministries in the early 90s... Gen. IBB used a Peugeot 505 Evolution limo.
My mum would give me and my lil sis N1 note each as pocket money, whenever she was going for her part-time programme on Saturdays.

And a lot more.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: LASG Approves New Entry Point For Engineers In State Public Service by tmanuelle(m): 7:51am On Aug 30, 2019
I am with the FCS, with a B.Eng, entry level is GL 08/03. Advancement to GL 09 comes after two years. However if you are coming in with an M.Eng, you will be placed on GL 09. That's still what's obtainable now. What you were referring to in your first paragraph has not been implemented in my ministry. Therefore your assertion that what LASG is doing has been happening in the FCS is not totally correct.

NSE might have achieved that in their struggle since 2018, but you and I know that in Nigeria, it is one thing to have a policy or law..., It's another thing to commence implementation immediately. e. g. Minimum wage, Pension 8%/10% contributions, HND/BSc matter...

Secondly, yes, I have colleagues who are already registered with COREN at GL 09 and 10.

sreamsense:
It has been like that in federal since, I don't know why it was delayed till this time in Lagos state. This is just entry point for fresh university engineering graduates who have not yet become registered engineers. With this level registered engineers and registered doctors will start at the same level mathematically. Registered Doctor (at least before you are free to practice): 6yrs mbbs + 1yr (housmanship) + 1yr (NYSC) = 8yrs (before you can be employed by hospital). Note: Some might not get housemanship placement in one yr because of limited numbers of hospitals availability. So, for a fully registered doctor to be employed after NYSC, about 8-10yrs must have been spent, it means:
After 8-10yrs as registered doctor fully ready to practise at Federal, the person will start at level 12

For engineer, a fresh graduate in engineering is not yet an engineer, except he is certified by relevant bodies in engineering before he/she can be fully ready to be called engineer:
engineering (B engr ): 5yrs + 1yr = 6yr (fresh graduate not yet registered engineer, but can begin work if he likes at level 9 in public service), two yrs after (8yrs-when doctor is doing housemanship if he is lucky to get housemanship on time), engineer in federal service or state civil service already moved to level 10. At 9/10 yrs when doctor must have finished NYSC and qualified to work in any hospital as registered doctor (i.e federal), by this time, engineer already has 4yrs post-graduate experience and become registered engineer through coren(fresh registered engineer) who now starts at level 12 which is the same as that of doctor(registered). Engineer even gets better opportunity because many factors can cause medical doctor to be delayed than 8/9/10yrs and also, engineer has been collecting money even before becoming registered engineer while doctor was still paying money to school and other finances before becoming registered. Amount collected during 1yr housemanship can not be compared with what level 10 engineer has collected so far. So, people that structured salary scale know what they are doing, fresh registered doctor and fresh registered engineer in federal institutions are logically starting on the same level in public service, numbers of years play important role.

https://nse.org.ng/news-events/recent-news/entry-point-for-engineers

Most other university disciplines start on level 8, HND entry is 7/8, master holders start on level 9 in Lagos state

Kudos to Nigeria Society of Engineers in Lagos state and @ federal level for silent fight without harassment of government to embark on strike

Car Talk / Re: Car Door Handle Sticker Trends In Nigeria (see PHOTOS) by tmanuelle(m): 2:39pm On Jul 05, 2019
AutoJoshNIG:
What Is The Reason For This Recent Trend On Cars In Nigeria (see PHOTOS)

Car door handle sticker films are used to protect car door cups from scratches or marks. These scratches and marks are typically left there by rings, nails or keys when drivers are in a rush trying to get the door open or the key in the lock.

In new car shops, these stickers are placed on cars on display for sale in order to keep them from getting scratches from the constant opening by a potential buyer.

Typically, the stickers are removed as soon as buyers take possession of the cars.

Interestingly, in Nigeria, car door handle protector stickers have become quite common features on cars on the roads  – even on cars in derelict condition.

On these cars, the stickers give an outstanding feature on the cars that they are placed on.

This recent fad thus begs the question - Are these stickers for decorative purpose or to protect the car handle cup from scratches, marks, etc?

Oduah was a minister, she cannot buy BMW bulletproof cars. No such amount can be legally appropriated for her ministry just for 2 cars.

Jonathan could buy bulletproof Mercedes Benz limousines, he was the President, Ambode could do same and so is Sanwo-Olu as a sitting Governor.

If you refer to Oduah's case here, then you are saying a Commissioner in Lagos state can also buy 2 bulletproof cars with government money without being challenged.

Simply put Oduah was corrupt (was there any lawful appropriation for such aquisition in her ministry?) and GEJ condoned it until it became imperative for him to let her go in order to save face.

We don't always have to compare stuffs like these, they are not justifiable. Just let things go.
