Hello everyone,
I am MATTHEW, Toluwalope Victoria, I'm here to briefly tell you about my discovery journey.

I have always been an independent lady but I never had a clue on how to live this life of independence.

I remember a 6-month (2013) ASUU strike when I was an undergraduate, after wasting 3months thinking on what to do.

I was prompted to go learn a skill. I picked hairmaking, it was going smoothly until I realised I didn't have 100percent passion for it.

Painfully, I was getting drained instead of getting sink into the skill.

Alongside, I began thinking of setting up a store majorly for hair sales and not rendering the service.

My mum bakes and I got this skill from her, I would bake in my little way and earn my money but I still didn't get my full satisfaction in this skill.

I later went into sales of Kampala fabrics for a short period before I got an office job (2017) then proceeded for my masters program (2018).

Then I relocated and I saw that the dream of setting up a hair store would be difficult in my new area.

I was home for almost 2 years, I told myself I needed to do something, I had to choose wisely because I could not afford to waste time on any skill learnt without passion.

Then, fashion came to mind

It wasn't an easy choice because it involved me traveling to as far as 2 hours distance (4hrs to and fro) in order to acquire quality knowledge.

Thankfully I got the needed support and my request was granted. I commenced in June 2020.

This new skill became so much fun to me that I couldn't stop thinking about new styles and practice.

I also ventured into the sales of fabrics exactly 8months ago (January 2021)and to be sincere, this has been the best skill I have acquired.

I must confess, Fashion has not been so easy because it has never been my thing
I have grown into loving this skill, I grown into being open to learning complex styles without fear.

Today the 9th day of August 2022, I would be graduating from the fashion academy.

Cont'd...2023
Four months ago, if anyone had told me i would be here, i will laugh...

I have always had fears and I would tell myself, instead of making this style for a customer, I would rather stop sewing and focus on my fabric sales.

Unfortunately, my environment was in tune with my mindset, I never had a corset customer except for my kid sis who would pressure me, and end up taking the fabric to another tailor because I would decline.

I had always loved to make shirts, tried out about 2 and I didn't like the outcome either...

So I had two things to deal with at that time.

Fast forward to when I had to change location, then reality set in. Would I run from my fears or face my fear or settle for the less in this new place.

Definitely NO.

I summoned courage, forgetting that I had learnt before, I went online, without knowing anyone to enquire from. I searched for fashion academies in my new area and carefully checked reviews.

I got satisfied with one, I reached out and she gave me a condition of resuming 3 months after I contacted...

I was forced to ask why, her academy runs session, the next session would begin in August and she was going for an upgrade class which would end in 3 month. I thought, if someone this good is going for an upgrade then who am I?

I definitely wasn't willing to wait that long, so I kept searching. Then another fashion academy popped up and that was it. I went to see physically on a friday, and agreed to resume the following Monday. And that was it (May 2023)

Today,,,, I look back at the sacrifices I've made. Alot of times, I post the beautiful pictures here, but I had moments when I would want to give up, I had abandoned assignments I had to revisit after telling myself 'it is my cross'.... Is it time, money and lots more... Don't worry, I didn't cry 😅😅😅

Oh, I forgot I had to take 2 weeks break off the academy cos I was overwhelmed.

I had to show up for my fabric business online everyday and also focus on practicals.,,,, they never told us adulthood is like this 🙄🙄🙄

In all, God has indeed been good🙏.
I'm always grateful for the gifts of supportive loved ones❤️, you lifted me up with your kind words...

We are done with this,,,, We will press forward again to gain more knowledge and become better version in this industry but before then, let's make some money 💰 🤑 💸....

I choose to celebrate my little win,,, so please celebrate with me ❤️

Officially,,, we are open to satisfying your fashion needs ✨️

Many thanks for your response. Yes, she has been taking pap and hot tea a lot. Please, where can one get the lactating cookies.

I'm not so sure but she can check those big supermarkets and 'maybe' a pharmacy can have.

Please is it okay to continue to feed a 1 week old baby formular. His mum has not started lactating and due to so much cries as a result of hunger, we were told to give formular as a supplement for the breast milk. which he has been okay with. However, I really want him to breastfeed so as to boost his immune system. What can be done by the mum for the breastmilk to start coming out. Is it okay to Continue feeding him on formular or is there an alternative. Thanks

I think she should get this lactating cookies, I've heard it works well. Then maybe she should do more of hot tea, pap, pepper soup etc. They should be of help too.

Hello mommies.
Please my baby clocked 5 months yesterday. For the past 1 month, he hardly pooped which got strange to me. I use cotton bud and Vaseline or methyleton on his anus, also use his bathing soap round his anus to ease the passage but all to no avail.
A week ago, after informing my doctor he hasn't pooped in 8days,he dipped his finger in his anus and by noon, he pooped though with severe cry (this severe cry happened about 3weeks ago also, tho the pooped came itself after 7days back then without assistance).
So today makes another 7days without pooped. Kindly advise cos I've been told to bring him for anus flushing or so (forgotten the actual name).

N.B he passes out gas o, he messes with serious and severe smell and he most times stains his pampers after gasing out.

Thank you in advance ma's

There is tangible risk.

Even as a man, if I want to cook by myself. I buy the vegetable, prepare it very well (so as to ensure that I remove all the dirts).

It is actually laziness to allow the market woman do the cutting for you (because there could be some insects hiding in the leaves which have to be meticulously removed or shaken off).

When preparing you foods, hygiene is very key otherwise, it becomes poison unknowingly.

This was my experience 2weeks ago. To get very fresh vegetable with minimal chemical used in planting, i have to travel to a nearby town. Got there, bought 1k worth vegetables and said i should try the market women cutting.

On getting back home, set to cook, the vegetables had lots of seed unsorted, lots of weed, i began sorting then realized the time/stress used in sorting and the quantity i had to throw away ehn. I almost cried, i was pained and told myself if it is not extremely pressing and i sit with the women, i wouldnt try such again.

Truth be told I was trained by my mother to wash vegetables before cutting .It is actually the best and safest way of preparing vegetables.

However I have grown very old and I hate cooking with a passion ,i really do not have anything against cutting vegetables in the market .Just wash with salt when you get home. lipsrsealed

Sincerely i also never had issues with cutting vegetables in the market until 2 weeks ago when i decided to try it out. The dirts in the main vegetables, the seed and all was not even sorted. The stress i went through sorting them out was much more time consuming than the time it would have taken me to cut at home myself.
I almost cried o
Health / Re: Lady Commits Suicide After Her Mum Accused Her Of Taking Her Money (Photos) by Tmat(f): 8:40am On Mar 20, 2021
Truth be told, nothing should make you take a life you cannot create. But the typical africa parents can be frustrating, i remember trying so much hard to please and run away from emotional abuses but at the end, it kept feeling like i have done nothing good. Only few can fight through living in a toxic environment especially family meant to show love. Out of everything done, i have been accused of stealing, they later found the money and didnt apologize. The hatred was much all in the name of discipline. Running away and suicide kept coming to mind.
Thank God i am free now, God help us make better parents.

*Please do not take your life for any reason*

I think bitterness comes also when the expectation of the other is so high. From my little experience, i started getting bitter towards my spouse at the early stage of my marriage. I knew the problem was from me and my high list expectation (trust me, he is a very calm, helpful and understanding man) but from little mistakes that i probably feel shouldnt occur cos of my background. I took a conscious effort in making myself realize I might have not been meeting up to expectations too. Things got better when i began speaking about every of my feelings, vice versa. Thank God.
