i hope all our conspiracy theory paranoiacs can now finally relax--tpiah anyone? Omolola1: bawomolo:thank you, my thoughts exactly. |
Cheta315:beauty fades but dumbness is forever -- need i say more? ***shakes head in disbelief*** |

Wow, so much jealousy in this thread. This is the travel forum, where does it say in the forum rules that people can't post pictures of places in the world? Where? Huhdude, you're missing the point here. no one is jealous of mwa's pictures of his beautiful city. what i'm saying is that posting all these images here is simply a waste of thread space and quite frankly, is not serving him any purpose posting them here. like i stated earlier, if he wants to showcase his beautiful city, he can easily do that by creating a website for that. . .there are tons of free ones out there. any sensible person will tell you that this is simply a waste of thread space that could be used for more meaningful purpose. besides, this is becoming an overkill, which at the end of the day defeats the purpose. have a gr8 day! Peace! |
Tokotaya:well, pardon me if i misunderstood your remarks but i don't think i took your remarks out of context when you said this:

Jim is a hell of an actor. But from what I hear, he needs lessons in humility. was i wrong to believe you meant he deserved to be assaulted? at any rate, no yawa, at least we both agree he didn't deserve to be treated that way. in fact, nobody (regardless of your societal status) deserves to be treated the way he was treated. have a gr8 day! |
lastpage:@ lastpage, no prob! abeg, no mind dem o jare. i hope this helps not only the OP but others that might be trying to do the same. funsosweet:glad that works for you but last time i checked 254Euro is equivalent to $340 or N50,000, ouch! i'm not sure OP is willing to dish out that amount of money (I know baba ijebu won't ) when she can easily get it done herself for less than $50. Elgaxton:u know, learning something new (especially a simplified one) can be fun sometimes. . . trust me, it's not always a challenge like you might think. just my $0.02. Peace! |
4 Play:a man that can't differentiate between pink and purple (shakes head). . .what a pity! i guess, the joke's on you now. . . u might want to take some joke lessons from Hot Sturvs since you think you've got jokes. Hot Sturvs:lwkmd! now this is funny. ![]() |
Tokotaya:i see. and to you the best way to learn that is to be senselessly assaulted? u do well! 4 Play:congratulations on your sarcasm! at least you had someone rolling on the floor laughing. . .give yourself a pat on the back. ***shakes head in disbelief*** no wonder naija is still the way it is. o ma se o! |
man, lwkmd for the different dimensions this story don take. very soon now we go hear say na osama this bobo dey work for. did some of you paranoias think for a second that the CIA will never send a Caucasian to come and spy in an all black country? come on now, that one no even require common sense (wey in most cases, no too common sef). if the the CIA wants to send a spy or spies to naija, the obvious thing to do is use agents that are proficient in at least one naija language. abeg, make una re n'le with all of una conspiracy theory o jare. . .like someone suggested, this could be a marketing strategy to penetrate the naija beef industry. by the way, the spies wey some of una dey holla fit dey enter the same taxi or danfo with una everyday and you won't know it. |
@missojugo, what you're trying to do is not impossible and you can do it by yourself contrary to what some are telling you. having said that, let me try as much as possible to explain the process to you in a simplified manner. to accomplish the task, you'll need: 1. the necessary hardware (some have mentioned it already) like kworld's DVD Maker USB 2.0 to transmit signal between your computer and the video source (in your case, your VCR), which in most cases is a video capture card or a tv tuner card. 2. a free light-weight software like Debut to capture the video to be saved to your hard drive. 3. another free software like DVDforger to author your saved video into a DVD format. please note that in no way am i advocating the above h/w and s/w, i only referenced them based on my personal experience using them. the only thing that will cost you is the h/w. there might be other good ones (USB-based in particular) out there but i can speak of the one i've been using for about 5 years now. i presume you're in the states, if so, you shouldn't have a hard time locating a video capture card to use. i specifically use the USB one because of the flexibility it affords you especially if you're using a notebook (which is usually the best cause of the mobility it provides). when you get the hardware and software, everything else is self explanatory but if you have any questions, go ahead and post it here. just some hints to save you some headache and most importantly time: if you decide to use Debut for your video capture, use the options tab to select either avi (i prefer this one though) or mpg or mpeg file format. and if you use avi, make sure to change the audio bitrate from xxxx MONO to say, 44kHz, 112 - 128 (select within this range but i stay with 128, which is the normal CD audio quality) STEREO. also, if you want to use DVDforger for authoring the DVD, the default region setting is PAL. and since you want to play the DVD in Nigeria, you won't need to change the regional settings. hope this helps and good luck. Peace! **oh, on a side-note, if the DVD player you'll be playing the video on is Divx certified, then you can skip the authoring part (step 3) and just burn the file on the disc as a data file.** |
Sagamite:lwkmd @ burukutu, e don wey i hia that word. |
while i'm not an avid fan of Jim Iyke (personally, i think he's over-rated but that's another story), what was done to him clearly shows part of what's wrong with naija. the article clearly states that he did his part the entire three days as stipulated in his contract. if the inept producers had planned accordingly, i'm sure he would have been able to complete his part within the three-day contractual period. so, for them to hold that against him is IMO in violation of the contract. i know the article claimed he was offered additional sum of money but it doesn't say anything about extending or revising the terms of the contract. who knows, they probably offered him the money orally and he refused (i know i would too). does that make him greedy? absolutely not! business is business, period! to condone what was done to this guy because of of his personal lifestyle i.e arrogance (like some people say), bad boy attitude (as reported by the media), and so on is the other part of what's wrong with naija. personal feelings aside, this could happen to anyone of us or our relative and i'm sure we won't find it funny then. let's try to always look at issues subjectively without injecting our personal feelings and emotions into it but until then, we will never progress as a nation. Peace! |
honeric01:nna biko now! make una free dis guy now ***lwkmd** |
Sagamite: chei! oga shagamu, easy on the bobo now. haba! u just kill the bobo finish all becos hin express hin own moronic opinion (na u talk am, no be me o) . weda e make sense or e no make sense, the bobo still dey entitled to hin own moronic opinion (like u refer to am) now. wetin the bobo do u now? abi, hin try collect ya wife? abeg, coolu temper o! ![]() |
Wow! i never thought i would see the day when all Nairalanders will all (well, about 98%) agree on an issue. na slow indication say naija go soon betta be dat o ![]() @ OP, how does this travel advisory warning paint naija bad? naija wey don already paint herself bad since nineteen gbogboro abeg. na dis travel advisory warning go come do that for us? abi, dem lie? no be we dey take our hand dey do ourselves so? though, that no mean say na we worse pass but if we're to go by your premise, i don't see how this paints us bad cause what they've posted is the truth. |
@mwana. . . dude, we got your point but don't you think this is over-done already? this is simply a waste of thread space. if you want to showcase your city why not create a site for that (in case you're not aware, there are tons of free ones u can use) rather than continue wasting some thread space that could be used for meaningful discussion. this a forum, not an online photo album. just my $0.02, Peace! ***some people sha, dash them internet, dem no sabi act again*** |
nature262:Nna, u sure say u no transpose those last 2 letters so? becos KDB as u type am so (2ce 4 dat mata) been translate to Kini Deal Big. oh ok, i got it! na ya own modified (latest) version be dat abi? weda e make sense or e no make sense, u no send abi? ![]() |

IYANFOWOROGI HIGH SCHOOL:ol' boy, dis one no be school anthem o cause i remember singing this for primary school every afternoon b4 we waka go house. man, dem go make us line up outside class after closing school bell rings and sing this god-awful song so loud that you'll think the whole school is an asylum. chei! those school days sha. lwkmd! ok, back to the topic, na my high school own be dis: An army of youth Flying the standards of truth we're fighting, For Christ, the Lord heads lifted high, Work hard and service, And the Cross our only sword, On earth's battlefield Never a vantage we'll yield, As dauntlessly on we swing Comrades true, dare and do 'Neath the Queen's white and blue, Immaculate our faith, For Christ the King. Immaculate Heart Comprehensive high School (IHCHS), Maryland, Ikeja. Peace! |
@ OP, U go die better (UGDB) o jare! |
not necessarily true because OP stated that it can read CDs. if he has a CD ROM or CD RW drive (which i'm betting it is) and trying to read a DVD media from it, obviously it's not going work. in that case, it's no fault of the optical drive but OP's. on the other hand, if he in fact has a DVD ROM or DVD RW drive and still can't read a DVD media (which sound strange to me cause one would think it wouldn't be able to read any media period), i'd try a firmware update first before opting for a replacement. |
of course it makes sense! hence, the sarcasm and the rhetorical question. once again baba ijebu is misunderstood. oh well. . . |
brianromel:wow! what a genius! did it ever occurred to you that the network administrator won't be dumb enough not to password-protect the built-in administrator account on every user's machine? so, now tell me how is he going to log into the administrator's account without knowing the password? oh wait, i know; the network admin posts the admin password on a sticky note on every user's monitor. ***hisses*** what a DA! @ OP, dude, if your network admin is restricting what you can do and not do, i'm sure he/she has a darn good reason for doing so! let's put it this way, he/she is following company's policies with regards to computer security and external threats. if he grants every tom, d.i.c.k, and harry admin privileges, do you realize how much potential threat that can introduce? bros, no try circumvent ya IT policy o, it might cost u job if you're caught o! Peace! |
otoyin:@ OP, that should answer your question. and judging from your subject, it appears you have a CD ROM drive (hope i'm wrong). if that's the case, then you will need to get a DVD ROM drive (at least to be able to read DVDs) or a dual format (DVD+ & DVD-) DVDRW drive if you intend to copy data onto DVDs. |
i heard someone in a computer school say that it did more harm than good to his computer so make sure you back up before you load itno kidding! shouldn't u be doing that before you make any changes to your computer regardless or at least manually create a restore point? ![]() |
abariko1:No offense bro but i think you'd be better off letting someone that knows about PCs help you before you do more damage to your PC than it has already. any pinhead can insert a cd in the cd tray like you stated above (not saying you're a pinhead though). @poster, what OS were you trying to load and at what point did you start getting the error message? Before you try doing anything, you might want to remove the installation disc or DVD (whichever is the case) from the tray and wipe the data portion of it with a cloth (cotton preferably). put it back in the tray and start the entire process from scratch. if you're still getting an error message during installation, depending on the message, you might need another CD/DVD as the one you're using might be missing some important windows file(s) or the file(s) could be corrupt. Peace! |
@ dhtml, pare means erase not vanish. @ post, seriously, this is not a bad idea o except that the Yoruba for example was in solid ijinle yoruba. in a way that's good cause it will compel most of us to learn our native languages (if time dey though) but it would have been easily embraced if it was in pidgin like a lot of people have already stated. i think we should give it time to evolve and not just quick to criticize and dismiss it. Peace! |
