Celebrities / Re: Pastor Taiwo Odukoya's Wedding Pix by tnk24: 3:36pm On Jan 24, 2010
What many pple do not know was that the wedding was actually meant to be a private affair. But the press will not allow it to be. As for the presence of many men of God, when Pastor Bimbo died, they showed great solidarity to Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, so it is also natural that he (Pastor Taiwo) invite them to his wedding, cos some pastors from other churches were not invited, yet they wished they were invited, cos they all wanted to be there. CONGRATULATIONS Pastor Taiwo, wishing you the best in this new union.
Politics / Re: Eduacte A Child And Touch A Life Today, Its Really Easy by tnk24: 3:06pm On Jan 17, 2010
otawa:

Normally this is good idea but,

Awolowo provided free education which Abiola used to study and eventually became rich.

In 1979, same Abiola used his money which in earns due to the 'free education' in conjunction with Mr Obasanjo and NPN to denied Nigerians the leadership of Awolowo.

The import of the story: the 'Nigeria kid' you send to school today may be a judge that will send your grand-kid to death sentence.

Don't be a pessimist. If you have such a mindset, you will not do anything worthwhile for humanity. I think this is a worthy cause. If our leaders cannot be humane enough to do things like this for the society, I think the best we can do is to encourage individuals or organisations who are doing such wonderful projets.
Romance / Re: Help My Boyfriend Is Contacting His Ex by tnk24: 2:18pm On Jan 17, 2010
Surprisingly, I have taken time to read every single reply in this thread, I must commend every comment made.

@rotimy
Yours was one of the best comment I came across and I agreed with you totally even before I read what happened later between the poster and her boyfriend.

@ziga
I don't agree with you when you said the poster should not rely on nairalanders' advice. There were those with fantastic advice and those not so fantastic, it is now left for the poster to discern and decide what to do based on what she has read.

@Noxious
Your comment and suggestion may have been waved aside by the poster as a non possibility, but what u said is still a very big possibility.

@Poster
When it comes to love issue, it is always complicated and at times, we know the right thing to do, but we lack the will power to do it because of emotions. It seems your bf is a nice guy. Pray and discuss issues with him and in the end, time will still sort everything out.

But if both of you are already sleeping with each other, then you are not in the right frame of mind to make the best decision.
Sports / Re: I Am One Of The Best Strikers In Nigeria - Yakubu by tnk24: 1:11pm On Jan 17, 2010
The coach's tactlessness is the Eagles biggest problem. No doubt Yakubu that is fully fit playing under a coach that knows how to utilise him is a good striker. But under this present Eagles squad especially after watching the Eagles play against Benin Republic yesterday, I will suggest that Yakubu should start from the bench.

As for the world cup in South Africa, the Eagles as presently constituted rather than bring glory to Nigeria, will only succeed in giving Nigerians heartbreaks.
Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Benin At Nations Cup: 1 - 0 by tnk24: 12:29pm On Jan 17, 2010
@ded
I agree with your assessment

What the Super Eagles need is a coach that is tactically sound irrespective of colour. Then the coach must be given enough time to build a good team irrespective of early results and above all, there must be a developmental plan beginning from the grassroot level to the local league with both players and coaches. But, all this starts with the quality of those running the game of football administratively.

Did you watch those matches? Those are the kind of loses that you call gallant loses. You lose and you are still proud of your team

Have you asked yourself the question, how much time did he spend with the team before he took them to that competition?

If I remember, I think it was just 3weeks or so

I will say that was an objective assessment of someone with proper knowledge of football
Sports / Re: Eguavoen's Facts On Amodu's Ineptitude by tnk24: 1:25am On Jan 16, 2010
The first 20/25 minutes the Super Eagles played against Egypt, I thought we have finally seen a new Super Eagles team, but alas, it was not to be. The few lapses I noticed with the team is in the defence, lack of passion or what else will one say of a team that was loosing with few minutes to the end of the game showing no hunger to equalise but rather it was the winning team that showed more fighting spirit which resulted in the 3rd goal, then the team lack tactical depth which is as a result of the quality of coach the team was saddled with.

I still cannot understand a coach who always find the pleasure of blaming his players each time they lose rather than honourably taking responsibility of the outcome of a match.

I belief a proven foreign coach is what the Super Eagles need. But if a Nigerian is to be considered, I think by popular poll conducted in the pass edition of Complete Sports, Samson Siasia is the most highly rated coach we have in Nigeria. For the fact that his team did not do well in the last U-21 championship, we should not forget that Siasia was not the original coach of the team, he only went there on a rescue mission, of course considering the limited time available to him, he is not a magician so he did his best in the short time available to him, the team did relatively well just that their goal scoring abilities let them down. What happened after that, he accepted responsibility and apologised to Nigerians, that is the hallmark of a great coach.
Music/Radio / Re: Why Do Nigerian Artists Have Poorly Written Songs? by tnk24: 12:44am On Jan 16, 2010
The standard of music in any given society is a refletion of that society. Majority of Nigerian artistes are not versed and knowledgable enough about the rudiments of music. Like some rightly mentioned, good musics with good lyrics are not appreciated in Nigeria and therefore are less popular and less commercially viable when compared to the "ghetto kind" of music we see/hear on air on daily basis. Not withstanding this fact, I belief Nigerian music has come a long way to be widely regarded as the best in Africa, therefore the artistes should be appreciated and encouraged.

Religion / Re: Pastor Odukoya Finds New Wife Four Years After Bimbo’s Death In Crash by tnk24: 7:00pm On Jan 04, 2010
The wedding is coming up this week, but it will be strictly by invitation. The new wife is a South African lady, almost of the same stature with Pastor Bimbo Odukoya of blessed memory and looks to have her own peculiar qualities which will unfold with time, though we should not expect her to be another Pastor Bimbo as they are both 2 distict individuals.

segyemaro:

Cos u dont approach christain issues as a christain.

segyemaro, your observation on mazaje is very correct. The few of his comments I had come across clearly shows he is not a Christian.

It's clear that miracles are not real to the poster otherwise he will not be asking such question.

We have lot of people out there who are not really interested in obeying and doing the things of God rather they are consumed by their desires to seek for miracles at all cost and some people out there decided to take full advantage of this to exploit those who are desperate for miracles. So, we have people doing all sorts in the name of miracles, genuine or otherwise. The bottomline is: we have real miracles and those that are not real.

It's normal to break up with somebody you love, especially when it becomes the best thing to do.

Father, when I look up into the sky,
And I see the stars,
Each time I make an attempt to count these stars,
They are always uncountable!

Father, when I see your goodness in my life,
And I try each passing day to count them,
They always remind me of the stars,
And I realise how great Your Love for me is!!

Father, You are the Most Gracious and Most Merciful,
To You alone be all the Glory!!!
