Unidentified assailants slit the throats of three children in front of their mother at Silimanti area of Maiduguri in the early hours of Thursday, residents said.

In a separate attack, five men were shot dead at Lawan Bukar Ward, another hotbed of suspected members of the Boko Haram in Maiduguri.

Unconfirmed sources said the three kids were children of a plain clothes security operative in Maiduguri and added that they were slaughtered in front of their mother.

The incidents reportedly took place around 2am.

“The attackers slit the throats of the kids and left them in the pool of their blood,” a source said.

When contacted on phone, spokesman of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa said he was out of town on official engagement while the phone of the police spokesman, Gideon Jibrin could not be reached.

The other five people  were allegedly killed for being informants of security operatives

Am I muslim and I condemned and formed of killing. To me killing is killing and it a sin in the front of almighty Allah. But but to be sincere after checking the list 19 out of the 33 names are muslim while 14 are Christians. So I don't believe the attack is religious rather political. Pls no insult.
