The Chief of Air Staff is talking about people on Facebook who complain about NAF not getting advance aircraft like they are something you can just pick off the shelf.

SH*T, He just confirmed that the Super Tucano aircraft won't arrive till 2021. shocked shocked

He talked about potential in house production of aircraft.

He is talking about the RANN incident. He claimed the DHQ had made the report of the attack public. I am not sure they have.

Over 60% of the flight by NAF is ISR.
pls give us more quality feedback plssss thanks

Not necessary but I'm sure y'all heard of the kidnapped Pastors some days ago....They have been rescued and that was Fast!!!!!!!! I never knew the police can respond quickly like this Here is a story for one of the rescued (The son of the late comedian, James Iroha, alias Giringori, one of five persons kidnapped along Sagamu-Benin-Ore Expressway last Thursday has narrated their experience in the hands of their abductors.

Iroha, abducted alongside four others narrated their ordeal at the police officers mess in Abeokuta following their rescue by the Ogun State Police Command on Saturday.

According to him, they were made to treck some 30 kilometers into the forest as their abductors whom he described as Fulani herdsmen, humiliated and tortured them with every object available.

However, their respite came when a police surveillance helicopter hovered over the area which unsettled their abductors who abandoned them and ran away.

Iroha said, “Well it’s an experience I wouldn’t wish my enemy because it looks nice for me to stand before you, you needed to see me when I got rescued, I was manhandled, I was roughed, I was tortured name it.”

“It’s horrible where this country is driving at. This gentleman shot for like one hour on the road, until policemen came and they ran away and they took us inside a forest till this morning,,

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the police because the pressure they gave them led us released. If there was no pressure they would have had a field day. Why am I saying this because where we were held, we were put in a slum; we slept in a slum with insects and reptiles; we moved like 30 kilometers inside the jungle where nobody has treaded, they were comfortable there, they have very dangerous weapons.

“They have different ammunitions but the moment we see police helicopter that descended above our head, the kidnappers took to their heels and started being panicky, they knew that some people were on their trail. I also want to appreciate the local hunters, they were always coming out, we used to see them, there are some areas they couldn’t get to because they thought people can’t be there but that was where we were.

“Well from the looks, there are somethings I can’t say because it’s a bit sensitive because the police are on the matter now for the sake of not destroying the evidence. From the language they spoke, they are pure Fulani herdsmen no doubt about it, I wouldn’t want to go further than that.

“They don’t know me, I don’t know them either, I was in a bus, in fact, they told us that they don’t have business with us, but the car they were shooting at drove away with bullet. The guy managed to go with two tyres and they turned back and descended on us, they picked us randomly, we never knew them from Adam, they just said their bullets will not go away they needed someone to pay for it and they took us.”)

For instance the ARA looks very different from CAD made public. It just shows evolution.

I don't believe anyone here is proud the NAF is flying F-7s and Alpha jets.

We deserve a military that is strong and well equipped, and also well trained. Very important.

Until our defence budget is significantly improved, wouldn't it be best to invest in the military equipment and training that is needed?

Maybe if we had, had this sort of air chief in the period of crooks Badeh and Amosu we would not be talking about 6 JF-17s for the past how many years.

Despite the huge efforts of this current Air chief we can see that for the level of Nigeria we still have a poor air force. I mean Morocco recently ordered 24 F-16V Block 72 fighter jets and hundreds of M1 Abrams tanks, including 24 Apache helicopters.

So yes, our military is still poor.

To change this our Defence spending has to improve by a minimum 100%.

Uganda doesn't have 100 T-90s, they only have a few.
if we had this kind of CAS back then our Airforce would have seen a turn...the guy is trying Even due to budget restrain he still tries to acquire small/cheap and capable platforms just to meet up....He has engaged personnel on Research and development just to reduce the importation of some aircraft spares we now proudly produce the Hydraulic diaphram of the MI helicopter series,we produced the Test bench for the Alpha jet Anti skid system,I don't think we still import Rockets and it's pod for Alpha jets cos we have improved a lot in our Rocket technology,The NAF has added another advance ISR platform to it's fleet thanks to R&grin,NAF is working alongside NASRDA for the development of Missile technology and Extended Rockets,We are on the verge of unveiling the NAFSA eagle Aircraft and Ichoku combat drone,If we eventually upgrade the hexacopter UAV it will be a very perfect battlefield instrument All thanks to R&grin we have gone a long way in the 4yrs of the Current CAS rule... We should appreciate their efforts....

NAF FIGHTER JETS DESTROY HIDEOUTS, NEUTRALIZE TERRORISTS AT ALAFA IN BORNO STATE

In continuation of its sustained efforts to wipe out remnants of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in the Northeast of Nigeria, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has destroyed a BHT hideout and killed some fighters at Alafa on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. The air strike was conducted yesterday, 1 August 2019, following Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that revealed the presence of the terrorists, along with their logistics supplies and equipment, in a group of structures within the settlement.

Accordingly, the ATF dispatched 2 Alpha Jets to attack the location, scoring accurate hits in the target area, which led to the destruction of some of the structures and equipment as well as the killing of several terrorists.

The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its operations against the terrorists in the Northeast.

Nigerian Army has unveiled four (4) Mine Resistant Anti Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicles designed and manufactured in Nigeria in partnership with Proforce Limited on 1 August 2019. Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff General Abayomi Gabriel Olanisakin commissions the vehicles at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Asokoro Abuja. The MRAP vehicles are a result of collaboration between the Nigerian Army and Proforce Limited and is in line with the Local Content Policy of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the desire and commitment of the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai for the Army to be self relient and the need to develop indigenous production of Defence hardwares.

Recall that under the leadership of Lt Gen TY Buratai, Nigerian Army has successfully established the first ever Army vehicle Manufacturing company in Nigeria and indeed in Africa and it has already comnenced manufcture/production of various types of Armoured Personnel Carrriers, MRAP, Mine Clearance System, ballistic vests, military boots combat, bullets proof vehicles, ballistic helmets, protective jackets among other military hardwares.

The MRAP vehicles will be inducted into the Frontline in the North East to fight terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria. More of these vehicles and other combat capabilities or enablers are expected soon.

..,.and let me tell you why we keep recording casualties. Why Boko attacks army bases and cart away with weapons. Our Air Force is a joke. Nothing but an avenue to generate income by embarking on capital projects that quite frankly is beyond bewildering.

Current fleet size

11 Alpha Jet
9 F-7No fighter.

No airforce in the world has a %100 readiness rate, not even the USAF. This means at any time Nigeria can send to the air only five or six aircraft at any given time. One would expect the AF to hand over its helicopter fleet for expediency sake. .NEVER. So what do we have? Despite being the underbelly of the Nigerian armed forces, the air force has for the past decade been doing nothing than seeking allocation for its own army, construction projects, sporting competition. Troops in the front are dying, we are celebrating the commissioning of the NAF fish pond. The day Angola took delivery of its first batch of Rafale fighters we commissioned a new sewing machine factory. ...and you wonder why nobody takes thia country setious. We have becone the laughing stock of the continent security wise. Now we have to deal with a Shiite uprising. The absurdity of it all is gut wrenching.
this guy eehh see ur mouth #Current size fleet 11 Alpha jet and 9 f7 who told you did u go and count....huh NAF has been doing very well in counter insurgency operation since and we are still upgrading we are expecting 5 AW101/139 helicopters, unknown number of jf17,12 super tucano,8 MI35 gunships and perhaps the yahbon flash drones we don't know if they are already here... We operate Earth observation satellites,Tin sheild radar, Mobile Early warning radar, Advance ELINT/ISR aircraft which is second to none in Africa on the part of Alpha jet we have more than 11 four of which are highly upgraded,We have the world class tsaigumi Drone, the upcoming Armed drone, the possibly weaponise NAFSA eagle, Angola is no where near..... We have the CH3 drone I can keep naming if u want grin

Islamic State says killed or wounded more than 40 Nigerian soldiers - Amaq

CAIRO (Reuters) - Islamic State said via its Amaq news agency that it killed or wounded more than 40 soldiers in the northeast Nigerian state of Borno in two separate attacks on Tuesday.

The group said militants attacked a military post in Baga and killed at least 15 soldiers before carrying out a second attack on an army barracks in the town of Benisheik, where they killed around 25 more.

Locals and military sources told Reuters there were clashes between insurgents and soldiers in the state on Monday and Tuesday. Reuters was unable to immediately verify the number of people killed or injured in those clashes.

An army spokesman did not immediately respond to phone calls requesting comment.

More than 30,000 people have been killed in northeast Nigeria since 2009 in an Islamist insurgency.

At the weekend at least 65 people were killed in Borno, the birthplace of the insurgency, when militants targeted civilians travelling from a funeral.

So when will it be used? What are they waiting for? ...And yes as officially stipulated the $1 billion is for munition and sundry. One billion is the defence budget of Chad and Cameroon COMBINED!! $1 BILLION will change the Nigerian Air Force. How can we spend $32 million for threw JF-17 multi-role fighter yet appropriating $1 BILLION for bullets. It makes ZERO SENSE !!
ok bro lemme explain the money for the jf17 thunder jet is first more than the initial amount you mentioned (2) it doesn't only entail the aircraft alone but spares and weaponry most you are always referring it to the jet alone not thinking of the spare parts that will follow ground crew training and it's expensive weaponry Also the 1billion can't be only for bullets that's stupidity of the highest order it will cover few Armoured vehicles perhaps new armoured tanks, the NAF too will also be a beneficiary
