You are hell bent on making excuses for Nigeria's lacadadtical approach to the war. We are at war..
One soldier was killed yet you talking about social welfare. It is more barbaric to send soldiers I'll equipped to the front with descript shelter than to build the most magnificent hostel and sporting facilities and send soldiers to the front to dig trenches and wait for am attack because there are of enough Meals to go on sustained patrol and no guarantee of air cover. Many di not come back alive to enjoy these social programmes.

We have an Air Chief that looks more like a real estate agent and contractor than someone saddled with the responsibility of safeguarding the nation's airspace. They carry their politics to the front. It's classic...bid for senseless building project, milliins of dollars are appropriated for the consteuction. Pocket %30. Look for next project. %99 of the initiatives undertaking by the Air Chief has to do with construction.

And you are talking about soldiers putting their best. The last thing on the mind of a soldier in the front armed with AK-47 rifles and Toyota Hillux trucks is a nice bed back home. He has to make It out alive first. We are in the longest war in the modern history of the world and pur air chief is building golf courses and sewing machine factories. Nobody wants the war to come to a speedy end, cos that will mean an end to $1 billion for bullets. ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Millions of dollars for more housing projects, fish pond, gymnasium. Schools. All requiring millions in allocation.

God help us.
so they should just keep on buy weaponry because we are at war seems like u don't know that the NAf tailoring company will help our economy and create employment.Job unemployment are some of the things causing increase in crime rate you should know that.... The guy on twitter that is peddling this story frequently contributes to this thread.

In my response to your comment a couple weeks back, I shared this photo as evidence that Nigerian Air Force fighter jets have operated from Niger. Funny thing is, I mentioned the air port as Diffa, however there is no evidence that those Nigerian planes truly were pictured in Diffa.

Lionel4power, Bidexii and African all copied that from his twitter handle.

Let me state clearly that he, Alameen Yaqup lifted the photograph from here, and proceeded to imagine a newly established FOB for the Nigerian Air Force.

There is no Nigerian Air Force Base or Forward Operating Base in Niger. It simply does not exist.

As part of the MNJTF, Nigerian Air Assets can cross into Niger and also land in Niger or Tchad or Cameroun. However to make up a story based on a conjecture only goes to drive a narrative that Nigerians are dishonest and untrustworthy.

There are many positives we've seen particularly from the Nigerian Air Force, however it would be reprehensible to go about hunting for glory.

Nigerian Airforce's newly established forward base at Diffa Airport, Nigér Republic. The base was established to improve the Airforce's comparatively longer reaction time to Northern Borno from the 105 Composite Airbase in Maiduguri which is farther away.
This base is the primary reason ISWAP has launched many unsuccessful attacks against Diffa and have even gone as far as launching long ranged attacks using the few and critical Grad rockets they have. In lieu of its strategic importance, they area is usually heavily secured. I like the way NAF they behave like other Western countries.....grin grin they deploy and open base outside Nigeria grin grin NAF #US of Africa grin

So these bastards came in this morning with spotters in our gear and vehicles. The unit stationed at the area flagged them down and they refused to stop and kept waking like a friendly force . The unit got ready for the worse thinking it was an "actual" friendly force being chased by those idiots Tilk they opened fire once they got close.

Fortunately, the good guys blew off them gasket which made their vehicles spoil and a radio call to nearby units. We were stationed where we are for a purpose. The person in charge needed a go-ahead order for us to move in as we're were about 17km away.

Little did they know that was an advance party shocked they came in large number and go-ahead was given for us to move in. The naval boys seems to be more excited grin while some where scared of an impending ambush as we moved in.

Luckily for us, some mopol guys working with the army around our route were on standby and we used their help to navigate through a safe route.

In short 26 bastards KIA. Zero military casualty

You my friend have just displayed your ignorance to the rest of the world. You have zero clue of what you are doing about. Terrorists are not running amok in the streets of Paris and New York. ISIS is not overunning bases in these countries. The Mali mission is an intervention force. This was what the Nigerian military was once known for....we couldn't even lead A mission to Mali. You are a very ignorant person.

Yes we have advanced ISR platforms but we have just two and they are basically the only long range early warning systems we have in military. You want to know what is rare in Africa? It's rare for a nation to spend billions of dollars annually in security allocation yet NOTHING to show for it. I mentioned for the past 3 years Nigeria has been alloting $1 billion a year for bullets and munitions. ONE BILLION DOLLARS. BILLION.

The entire defence budget of Cameroon in 2018 was $320 million. For Chad $300 million. We spend more on bullets and munitions and operational costs than the entire defence budget of the two strongest militaries in the francophone world. The $650 we spent on 12 turbo prop planes is what morw than what these countries can afford for their entire defence annually. Yet 13 years later you do not see the problem in Nigerian soldiers digging trenches and waiting for Boko Haram to attack because they do not have the necessary armoured vehicles and air cover to go on the offensive. Majority if soldiers still weild AK-47 assault rifles. A quarter of our tank fleet has been wiped out or stolen. Our bases are being overrun. You cannot isolate air power from land forces. Boko Haram is able to do this because the NAF is stretched too thin with obsolete equipment. Each time soldiers brave up and go out on offensive missions without air power they get massacred or ambushed...so now they just did trenches. The Army aviation Corp was a welcome development but there are just too few assets. We have Boko Haram into he north, bandits encroaching down south, the Shiite uprising is rearing its ugly head. Yet the nation's Air Chief is commissioning sewing machine factories, buildings, gym faculties, fish ponds. A nation at war is holding sporting competitions. There is no sense of urgency to squash Boko Haram once and for all and focus on national development. We just keep dragging along on a never ending war of attrition and folks likw you are here giving the criminal and corrupt cronies a round of applause and approval. Unbelievable!!
me and you now is ignoranthuhwho told you the whole defense budget allocated annually is for weapons procurements Alone.. And since when has BHT overran a major military base ..huh BHT has been trying to do that to special forces school in yobe but always meet their Waterloo...they only overrun smaller unitz and FOBs most times not successful...the day BHT tried to overrun the MNJFT they paid dearly NAF responded with the MI35 and Alpha jet..... The military has made great progress in the fight against terrorist groups unlike before we would hear bomblast here and their even during festival periods...it has now drastically changed our military onced hired foreign pilots and private military institution to fight for us it has all changed now though we need improvement and all but we have to appreciate the little that our military is doing it's not an easy job.the military is using both kinetic and non kinetic ops to fight insurgency not everyone is perfect our Boys ain't super humans that is always winning...there is always a breach of info somewhere...that's why our FOBs are usually attacked....And some of you need to learn manners always offensive while talking to someone is wrong SLBMS

Although he survived the crash he was killed in a ground fight, Moscow said.

Its slower than the Alpha jet with a much lower service ceiling. How many of these smart weapons are we getting? How much do they cost? What qill they be used against? Terrorist won't even see the tucano coming because of it's ability to fire it's missiles at long range, secondly tucano has countermeasures and Early warning systems... Tucano has the ability to acquire it's Target at long range

Your inability to understand what contested or well defended airspace means proves you are the ignorant one. The Super Tucano is too slow and light skinned to survive enemy fire. This was the exact reason the USAF dropped its earlier plans to acquire A-29s as a low cost measure. The risk to the pilots life was just not worth it.

You keep talking about COIN assets and it appears you never learn from history. If 13 Alpha jets and 8 F-7Ni and a complement of L-39s backed by Mi-35 helicopter gunships cannot prevail agaibst Boko Haram that has no credible air defence capabilities, and deny them the ability to operate with impunity, then we have no business having an Air Force.

Smart bombs like JDAMS and guided munitions are useful against fixed high value targets. You gonna expend munitions that cost $50,000 apiece on Boko Haram fighter or Toyota Hillux truck?

Shoulder fired MANPADS will make mince meat of this aircraft. It's too slow, it's service ceiling is too low to avoid anti-aircraft fire. It has no ejector seats. Missions like this is what helicopter gunships and used for. The have the armour and versatility and is cost effective.

What happens if we find ourselves in a situation in which we are forced to defend our airspace or critical infrastructure against air attack? We start shopping for combat aircraft? $650 million will transform the NAF into a 21st century fighting force. By the time the Tucano arrive Boko Harams complement of SAMS would have increased significantly.

All the countries in the world operating Super Tucano have at least an air force with significant air capability. They have fighter jets in numbers that makes strategic sense the TUCANO is used only for complementary and specialized missions.

Nigeria has no airforce. Ten jet trainers and F-7 does not constitute an airforce. Against a near peer adversary the Nigerian airforce will be wiped out within minutes in a suprise attack on the ground.

If the planes manage to take to the sky they will be shot down with little effort. The Super Tucano doe not constitute an air defence or strike asset. We are not getting the bang for the money spent on that propeller driven aircraft. It's a pointless acquisition and won't even arrive until 2022 or 2025. By that time the Nigerian airforce may have ceased to exist.
if Apache ,chinnok ,tiger, black hawk,MD500 mirage 2000, Rafael fighter jets and helicopters can't handle terrorist in mali.then what what will u say about it....Do u think it is all the platform in the NAF that is based in maiduguri....you were emphasising on our MI35 being shot down or crashed.what of in Syria when Russian sukhoi 34 was shot down by ISIS the almighty sukhoi..... If u say that the MI35 was shot down it might be true cos the battle was intense and it was pretty dangerous for the NAF to get that close to provide airsupport....You saying we don't have an airforce is a complete lack of understanding, We operate very advance ISR systems and even make use of Geospatial platform, something very rare in black Africa never compare us to other Africa airforce.....The tucano also will survive in a contested airspace if u say no what then is the use of it's air to air capability and also Early warning systems, chaff and flares and high maneuverbility....why would the US acquire tucano when they have the A10 and F35,F16 even Africa Superior airforce uses a less better Aircraft than the tucano (Egypt uses the air tractor)

Look at Bidexi making excuses for the incompetence and corruption of those at the helm if affairs of a nation at war. Just read what this guy is saying? Limited funding? Are you for real? Nigeria just squandered the entire defence budget of Chad and Cameroon combined on 12 Super Tucano, an aircraft that will not survive 10 minutes in contested airspace. The deal in itself shows Nigeria expects to still be at war agaibst Boko Haram by 2022, cos thats when it "might be delivered". This country is a laughing stock. It's approach to security and senseless projects is proof the longevity of this war benefits some people. Army bases are being overrun because there are not enough aircrafts to provide air support. The puny aircrafts we have are stretched to thin and too far out to make any strategic impact. Other country's look at Nigeria and wonder how a rich and powerful nation like Nigeria cannot squash Boko Haram. You cannot blame them. It defies human reasoning.
so u think fighting terrorism is that easy eeh....Now tell me which nation on Earth fought terrorism single handedly without the foreign deployment of troops for combat assistance until they were downgrade to hit and run "Goats" eeh.Terrorism in Syria and Iraq where fought with the help of NATO(that's the combination of super powers) in Somalia with the help of Kenya Burundi Uganda e.t.c in Mali it's like the whole world is there france, Germany,China, Egypt, Netherlands, canada,Chad, senegal, Australia e.t.c in Cameroon France... In Niger France and US in Chad France and US..we only get training assistance from foreign countries...u may say what of the MNJTF yes because all are experiencing the same problem...Nigeria fought BHT till they moved to lake Chad region.. 2016 /2017 was hell for BHT NAF rained down fire and brimstone with the#Punny Aircrafts we have.......

Like I said people like you wouldn't criticise corrupt generals & air-marshals like Amosun, Bade and the rest that squandered of over a billions dollars on 3rd hand used T-72 , BMP-1 and rented helicopters. Amount visited Pakistan times without numbers pretending to be negotiating for the jf17 deal: finally the funds meant for the jf17 disappeared.
don't mind them bidexiii those keyboard warriors don't know what they are saying (NAF is a laughing stock yet Top military powers wants to partner with NAF because they admire our mode of ops and the gaint strides we made) One stupid person here is telling me that Nigeria has the least protected airspace grin 157 years of Liberia independence how far have they gone better than us? huh
