UltimateDreamer:
The CH-3's and its (ISR) functions have been active all through since purchase, if I'm correct most of the videos of strikes are from the UAV's
The Achilles heel for the NAF remains the cost of the precision munitions, as its hard and unconscionable to justify expending 50,000 dollars on single targets. This would be the same problem when the super-tucanos arrive and everyone who is happy about their delivery would be disappointed in the long run if the NAF is unable to expend as much precision munitions as it need to owing to the financial costs.

Public selling price for precision air to ground missiles:

American Hellfire ~ approx. 120,000 dollars
Chinese Ar1/Ar2 (Hellfire replica) ~ approx. 60,000 dollars

These selling price's are marked up 20x ~ 50x from original cost of production

Nigeria should focus on cost of production and cost of materials in a precision missile, NAF, NA, and NN should start a program to reverse engineer the Ar1 and Ar2 and also the incoming missiles from America, albeit weary bout the American missiles as they might have a phone home component if and when the missile is disassembled, hence before disassembly, the engineers and the missile must be enclosed in a faraday cage, to prevent any signals leaving the locale. The reverse engineering team should also focus on the useful paveway laser guide kit, attached to dumb bombs and rockets turning them smart and precise. This will enable the military conduct more precise executions.
at 5,000 dollars cost of production, that's still some 2million naira a precise strike, more manageable
than 60,000dollars, 22million naira a precise strike.

for comparison

In 2012, we had problems with six of our night attack helicopters,” said Abubakar.
“Their computer systems have multi-function displays to show all aircraft parameters including height, speed, temperature and oil pressure. That display system is also configured with the camera system. However, there was a conflict between the two systems, which would manifest after certain number of flying hours and lead to blind flights.
“We called the manufacturers to fix it and they gave us a bill of naira 158 million ($500,000) per helicopter, so we decided to handle it. A local team has resolved that conflict by separating the two systems and creating additional monitors for all the aircraft at a cost of about N5 million ($31,800). They also provided an alternative recorder system, which was not there. Those helicopters have been flying since then.”
it was the agusta helos we had multi function display problem with not any attack helps, also we are likely not receiving any missiles from USA the missile Tucs fire is the AGM Maverick that shit is expensive and it's not in our Tucano program.

Xbee007:
But seriously, what happened to the previous CH-3 Nigeria bought from China?

The last footage gotten from them was the airstrike on an artillery piece. Ever since then, they have not been seen again. The Iraqis are also down to one drone out of the 10 units ordered. Some other countries are even selling theirs for very cheap price. This calls for serious concern.

Should we be spending more money on Chinese made drones when all they do is fall out of the sky and remain idle due to unserviceability in our hangars.

My prayer is that we at least get value for money before the drones start acting up.
the drone was recently seen this year the last time CAS visited Maiduguri.

SSBN is just too proud he should learn to clarify things before posting and also Stop sugar coating things.

1. He posted a pic of MV Mary Hudson a private security vessel and tagged it SDB3 when we all know the ship isn't yet completed.
2.He said Nigeria has more Satellites than all African countries combined, which is a lie SA and Egypt alone has the same number or more Satellites as us.
3.He posted a pic of A US military personnel parachuting down and said it's TY buratai everyone.
4.He tried to Jeopardize US, Nigeria military cooperation on Counter insurgency, Saying because we acquired drones,VT4 tanks and Artillery they want to talk with US.What kind of talk is that.
This prompted DHQ to warn that SSBN is not in any way related to Nigeria armed forces..

So what's there to be jealous about lies?

what is wrong with you people sef
..

That dude is overhyping the military saying things that aren't true.
How will he come out and say Nigeria has more Satellites than all African countries combined do you know how many Egypt or SA has alone
The Reason why DHQ made that disclaimer yesterday was because he was jeopardizing Relations between US and Nigeria.. saying irrelevant things

He's too proud he never takes correction

Six Super Tucano aircraft will soon be delivered to Nigeria from the United States, the Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, has said.
The aircraft are part of the 12 fighter jets sold to Nigeria by the U.S. to aid combat actions and air assaults.
He said this on Monday after defending the 2021 budget estimates of the Nigerian Air Force before the Senate Committee on Air force.
The Air Force is also expecting the delivery of 19 additional aircraft in the fight against insecurity in the North East, and air fighters from the Nigeria Air force are already in the U.S. receiving additional training on usage and the applications of the fighter jets when eventually added to the fleet of combat aircraft.
He said the Airforce had carried out operations for over 60,000 hours with half of those in the North East to fight insurgency.
“We are expecting 3 J-17 fighters from Pakistan, 12 super Tucano from the United States, one M-171… Out of the 12 A – 29 Super Tucanos from the US, six are almost here as those to handle them have been sent on training for that purpose,” he said.
“A total of 200 personnel are receiving training in nine different countries of the world on handling combat aircraft. They will soon join their colleagues in the fight against insecurity and in particular, insurgency in the North East.”
After extensive discussions with the U.S. government, President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2018 placed an order for the aircraft.
He had said the procurement would help strengthen Nigeria’s national security, as well as a timely end to the Boko Haram war.

Many misinformation about the Wing Loong II. There are actually more than three countries operating it, not just China, UAE and Egypt.
I think it's the wing Loong 1 Egypt operates.

video broadcast on Egypt’s 45th Air Force Day on October 14, which was published on the ministry’s official social media pages.
The production included footage of a Wing Loong taking off from a desert air base, armed with what appeared to be a pair of Lán Jiàn-7 (Blue Arrow 7 or BA-7) laser-guided missiles on two of its four underwing hard-points.
The aircraft was shown attacking and destroying a ground target.
The video’s voiceover boasted: “The Egyptian military has been boosted with the latest global armament systems, including the multirole Rafale aircraft, F-16 fighter jets, Boeing AH-64 Apache helicopters and China’s Wing Loong armed aircraft.”
The Wing Loong (also known as the Pterodactyl I or the Yìlóng-1) is similar in appearance to the US Reaper

The United States and Nigeria are convening a virtual meeting with members of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS on November 10 to affirm the Coalition’s commitment to countering the threat of ISIS and its branches worldwide, including in West Africa, and to supporting ongoing international efforts in the region.
This was made known via a statement by the Embassy of the United States of America.
The statement said the meeting will outline the ISIS threat in West Africa and focus on ways the Coalition can strengthen its collective approach in specific areas such as battlefield evidence and border security.
The statement added: “The United States, and the 82-member global Coalition it leads, remain fully committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS and its branches, which is critical to U.S. national security and that of our partners and allies.”
