They are losing cohesion, many of the boys initially captured have escaped and they also decided to let some go because of the difficulty of the terrain.

What comes out of Nigeria vexes someone like me everyday. Even things people say to address issues. Your post like many I have been seeing shows lack of understanding. There is lack of intelligence even among us. This is why we are in the situation we are. We are here because many people don't just understand things. And when you don't understand things u don't enjoy things. We deserve our leaders as the popular saying goes.
I am not in katsina but I have been able to get an idea of what is happening over there. The bandits are cornered, there location with the kids are known, but the military can't go in like that. There is high risk of collateral damage. If only one kid is killed in the bid to rescue, we will be the same people condemning the government.
This case is quite different from the America rescue. Elements of surprise is no longer there. The bandits and military are literally looking at themselves, but the bandits know they have the kids as security. Cases like this takes, patience, skills, intelligence gathering and time
exactly bro told this guy not to compare the situation with that of the US hostage incident as it is totally different but he called me a fool

You are fooooooolish foooool .....a stupid goat

To hide one person and to hide 300 persons which one is harder
keep on insulting hiding them is not the problem we've found them already
Rescuing them is the problem to avoid collateral damage to the young boys the bandits are ready to use them as shields so gats be careful....

Compare the two incident the American was held hostage by only 7 bandits
It's fuvking easy to rescue such

Now we're talking about 300+ kids here held by more than 50 armed guys.

Which of the rescue ops do you think will be easy

Shekau has released an audio claiming responsibility for the kidnapping of the kankara boys.
I personally believe he is either chasing clout or this point to the use of satellite cells in locations outside the northeast to use kidnap for random to generate revenue for JAS.
Either way, hopes are high that the students will be released either by a rescue operation or through negotiations.
17 has been released via negotiations..
Although it is likely that SF might still conduct Rescue as they are already on ground and put on hold.. it may not really be easy to rescue those boys
1. we're talking 300+ that's alot we need extra care to avoid collateral damage.
2.Bandits are likely frightened already due to heavy military presence and Flyover by NAF they may either give up the boys or do something stupid..
But I pray those boys be out soon

Some of the parents of the students have been contacted for negotiation of ransom. Kidnappers told parents to advise military to stop air surveillance. The students were sighted at Mutu primary school in Yanwarin Daji Dakuzo village zamfara state.

Security expert David Otto believes it's only a matter of time before kidnappers run out of logistics supply control and become desperate.
Problem is that they might decide to kill the unknown number of students as it is the easiest way out for them and to also send a message to the families of future victims. Honestly, I expect some of the less experienced members of the kidnapping operations to have started deserting out of fear of apprehension with the level of response from the military.
good just by NAF seems they used Gunships or alpha jet cos with a King air or ATR you'll never know eyes are on you...

AFSF should be utilized at this point.

They came in 15 guntrucks, troops captured 4. Capturing or destroying all would have dealt a blow to that cell's mobility and firepower(no platform to mount heavy guns) for years. The military needs to do better though this is commendable. Just imagine what one mi-35 would have done to those gun trucks with rockets. Even RPGs would have helped a lot. That is one thing the chadian army utilizes brilliantly.
exactly what I thought about.
Imagine Just one mi35m with alpha jet.
Take the Monguno incident for example. Even vehicles running away off-road was trailed and destroyed that's how it's supposed to be.

These chadians RPG be like Groundnut for Dem nagrin I love the way they Carry surplus with them.

This abduction of 333 students is starting to look like a government attempt at showing the effectiveness of the security agencies to me. I mean, the whole country is starting to call for the sacking of service chiefs, calling the security agencies useless and the national assembly inviting/summoning the president to give an account of the security situation in the country.
The swiftness of the response is unlike Nigerian security agencies Sha.
Or it might be that the abduction was done by the bandits and the president knowing his current approval rating applied pressure on all the security chiefs.
Either way, it had to take this event for the military to start search and destroy it f bandits in the forest around Katsina, several exchanges of gunfire reports since yesterday. That's good news Sha. But instead of them to carry this momentum into zamfara, kaduna and other states battling banditry and Insecurity........
but why's the number always changing at first 800,600 400+ and now 333
But anyways the Response of the military was quick but I my opinion they should Storm some villages in Niger Republic they might have crossed already
The Two NAF jets based there should Conduct Search..
They should also keep combing the forest cos some students out of fear might still be lost there

The Shura Council of ISIS in west Africa – the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), which is a splinter arm of Boko Haram terrorists, has appointed one Aliyu Chakkar as its new ‘Governor of the Lake Chad’ region.

Aliyu Chakkar replaced Amir Goni Maina after the ISWAP Warlord was eliminated in a Nigerian Army and Air-Force coordinated military bombardment while the jihadist were in the process of conducting a strategic leadership and operational meeting at a location given by ground sources at the time as Sabon Tumbu – on December 1, 2020.

The Damage assessment of the targeted aerial strike that killed the former jihadist ‘governor’ Amir Goni Maina along other parallel precision strikes at jihadist camps in Ingilwa, Tundun Wulgo, Jubularam and Abbaganaram fridges of the LakeChad – led to the elimination of more than 100 jihadist, including several high-ranking insurgents’ commanders, foot soldiers and Hisbah police from the ISWAP faction, Abubakar Shekau faction and foreign mercenaries.

Sources disclosed that the newly appointed ‘governor’ and Lake Chad basin warlord was spotted enroute to debrief Amir Ba-Lawan , the ISWAP leader in a location revealed as KOYOWA – the known Headquarters and strongest hold of the ISIS affiliated West Africa province branch. The little known but notorious Aliyu Chakkar was accompanied for his maiden tête à tête meeting by 3 of his lieutenants given by sources as Mohd Maluma, Ali Hussaini, and Ali Musak, all high ranking ISWAP field Commanders.

At Kayowa – the ISWAP Headquarters, Ba- Lawan handed over the mantle of leadership of the Lake Chad region to the new ‘Governor’.

On recieving his official appointment, Chakkar is said to have sworn to consolidate on the command and control successes recorded by late Goni Maina. He promised to sustain previous plans of launching indiscriminate attacks in the coming months – presumably December 2020 and January/February of 2021.

Sources further revealed that on Dec. 12, Chakkar and his group of loyalists fighters, returned to Sabon Tumbu and Jubularam for a familiarisation tour. He is reported to have proceeded to his newly established command and control base at a location named as Doron Buhari – situated around North of Kirta and East of Bakkassi town, where he was received by some other key ISWAP leaders including Malam Abubakar Dan Buduma, Amir Bin Umar, and Commander Hakilu.

The new appointment and leadership of Amir Aliyu Chakkar will trigger a wave of planned and directed attacks against soft civilian and hard military targets specifically targeting military positions, routes and vulnerable towns in and around the Timbuktu triangle and the Lake Chad basin states. New alliances are likely to be forged with external jihadist units in the Sahel via links with Niger Republic units.

Multiple attack tactics are likely to be deployed to target locations along Maiduguri metropolis as an entry signature for power consolidation by the new ISWAP warlord.

Multiple stakeholders – including civilians ; Staff of INGOs , state officials must be extremely alert – and be extremely vigilant in this period – travel ONLY when extremely necessary- If you see something- say something immediately. This is the people’s war – the security services can only win if the people are willing and protected to play an active role in timely information sharing.

EXCLUSIVE: KIDNAPPED AT 10, BOKO HARAM CHILD SOLDIER REVEALS HOW INSURGENTS TURN CHILDREN TO ISLAMIC FIGHTERS, SAYS TERRORIST LEADER SHEKAU HAS LOST USE OF HIS LEGS (VIDEO)
A Boko Haram child militant fighter has sensationally revealed how Abubakar Shekau, the leader of Jama’at Ahl al-Sunna lil Da’wa wal Jihad (JAS) lost his leg and became incapacitated in one of the devastating air bombardment by the Nigerian Army in the insurgents camp in Tumbuktu - Sambisa forest.

There was increased speculation regarding the whereabouts and well-being of JAS leader Abubakar Shekau in the Nigerian media circle, with some pointing out that the erratic leader no longer released videos while standing on his feet. His leg injuries meant the Boko Haram terrorist leader could only sit down to make video and audio recordings.

The young jihadist named as Mohammed Adam - who says he is 15-year-old, turned into an Islamist fighter after he was kidnapped by the sect from his native town in Firgi in Gwoza local government area, South of the Northeastern Borno state, aged only 10.

Adam was apprehended by troops of 159 Task Force Battalion of the army, on Friday, Dec. 12, at a location given as Muna garage in Maiduguri, the state capital of the restive Northeast.

The brave looking jihadist fighter revealed that Abubakar Shekau could no longer walk or physically lead any operational mission due to his battlefield injuries.

Recounting his own experience, Adam claimed that he personally met Abubakar Shekau after taking active roles in several Operations under the command of the veteran factional leader.

He also claimed that he was among the Boko Haram fighters that escorted the kidnapped Chibok girls to a camp in Tumbuktu and gave them close protection.

Bearing his age - some of his statements cannot be relied upon.

In a bid to confirm to the Nigerian army 159 TF Battalion that they got the right man - the young Adam demonstrated some combat skills he acquired during training by the Insurgents in weapons handling, marksmanship and planting of Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

"I am a well trained insurgent war front soldier who was specialised in weapons handling including AK-47 rifles and GPMG as well as planting IED's along troops patrol route. We are also given training on other unconventional techniques to inflict heavy casualties on troops.

Adam claimed that he had participated in several top Boko Haram Operations and attacks including the elimination of some army engineers in the South of Borno while showcasing skills in IED planting on the road.

He said that he escaped from one of the camps in Sambisa forest due to hardship and hunger, resulting from the Cholera outbreak, which left over 500 militants and their families in critical conditions.

"I escaped with the intention of Being rescued by the troops of the Nigerian army which will, in turn, afford me the opportunity of fulfilling my dreams of going back to school to acquire knowledge," said Adam.

He revealed that other escapees, mostly minors were in Banki in Bama local government area. He claimed to have come to Muna to collect some of his personal possessions from a friend he met after escaping from Sambisa forest.

Adam is currently in the safe custody of the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole of the Nigerian Army for further investigation, profiling and channelling.

The jihadist factions of Boko Haram JAS and ISWAL have continued to employ the battle strategies of recruiting children as frontline fighters in battlefields across Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad. The recruitment strategy became common after the jihadist suffered major losses of experienced fighters, soldiers and commanders in the hands of Lake Chad regional and state forces.

Most of the enlisted children were mostly abducted at very young ages, groomed and trained to become militant battlefield soldiers and spies.

The latest arrest of Adam and his revelations is further confirmation of the recruitment of Minors by Boko Haram insurgents to evade suspiciousness by the Nigerian troops in the theatre of war.

The protection of vulnerable young children from exploitation by non-state armed groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP is extremely crucial in the war against terrorism in the North East - Mandara Mountains- Sambisa Forest and the fringes of the Lake Chad basin states. The use of child fighters by Boko Haram and ISWAP factions is an ongoing tactic that requires multiple stakeholders awareness.

The abduction of about 600 students in a secondary Just 6 years after abduction of over 200 in another secondary school is what you get when you have a reactive security system rather than a proactive one.
The 600 is the number reported missing after headcount of the remaining students. Let's just hope that many of them are still hiding or ran for safety.
All these will pale in comparison to Insecurity in the south when organized cultism eventually gets out of hand. And blaming government alone is a very stupid thing to do. Everyone of us has a role to play in the security of our environment. Many of us know criminals/potential criminals but have failed to take action, when the crime eventually becomes unbearable, we start shouting about how government refused to do anything.
the story is false they didn't abduct any student

The U.S. has donated maritime security equipment worth $180,000 (70 million) to the Nigerian Navy, the U.S Consulate in Lagos said in a statement on Friday.

The equipment is to enable the navy to upgrade the anti-piracy and nautical security functions of the country’s Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (RMAC).

RMAC was developed in 2006 to upgrade the maritime domain awareness capability of U.S. partners.

The consulate said that the equipment donated were integrated to improve the navy’s capacity to track and counter marine threats through its RMAC.

The donations include, “a selection of best-in-class sensors and radars, communications and networking equipment, thermal-imaging cameras and software.”

Claire Pierangelo, U.S. Consul General in Lagos who handed over the consignment at the Naval Station Beecroft, highlighted the U.S. government’s continued support of Nigeria’s maritime security.

“The United States is committed to supporting the Nigerian Navy in its effort toward securing not only your territorial waters but the larger Gulf of Guinea.

“The equipment we have here today is part of RMAC that began in 2006, aimed at enhancing the Nigerian Navy’s capacity to monitor and respond to the diverse maritime threats in your waters and the Gulf of Guinea,” Pierangelo said.

She noted that two ex-U.S. Coast Guard Cutters, now known as NNS OKPABANA and NNS THUNDER, were previously transferred to the Nigerian Navy.

Rear Admiral Tanko Yakubu Pani, Chief Staff Officer, Western Naval Command, Lagos, who received the surveillance equipment on behalf of the Nigerian Navy, acknowledged the long-standing security cooperation between the U.S. and Nigeria.

“It is pertinent to state that the introduction of the Regional Maritime Awareness Capability facilities in the Nigerian Navy has greatly enhanced our maritime policing efforts through intelligence-gathering patrols.

“We are indeed delighted and grateful for the continuous support of the United States,” he said.

Nigeria’s RMAC became fully operational in 2008 and has five radar sites located in Badagry, Lagos, Formoso, Bonny, and Ibaka.

It also has operations posts at the four regional headquarters in Lagos, Yenagoa, Calabar, and Abuja.
