Nairaland GeneralPresident Buhari Approved US Navy Seal Rescue On Nigerian Soil. by Toju200(op): 12:39pm On Nov 03, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari gave the nod for the rescue operation by American Special Forces who stormed a location in Nigeria to free Philip Walton, the American hostage who was kidnapped in the Niger Republic in a cross border attack by motorcycle-riding bandits.
Daily Trust got additional exclusive details of what transpired from an impeccable intelligence source.
Reports at the weekend showed that the American, who was living in the village of Massalata near Birnin Konni in the Niger Republic, was snatched from there by one of the many kidnap gangs based within Nigeria.
United States security officials sought for Nigeria as soon as they got a report of the kidnap of their citizen in the border region between Nigeria and the Niger Republic where incidents of cross border kidnaps have been previously reported.
The Americans got back to Nigerian security officials as soon as contact was made by the kidnappers who called the kidnapped person's family with a Nigerian number. The kidnappers were said to have demanded a huge ransom.

Daily Trust learnt that Nigerian intelligence officials quickly traced the number to a specific place in a village in Illela Local Government of Sokoto State.
With the American elections just days away and the polls showing him behind the Democratic Challenger, Joe Biden, President Trump is under pressure to show a positive side of American power.
It is no surprise that American security officials put in requests to Nigerian officials and followed up with phone calls by Mike Pompeo, the American Secretary of State. Nigerian officials in turn reviewed the situation and advised President Buhari to approve the request of the Americans to cross the border from Niger and mount a rescue operation.

NAF DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ‘RESCUE CALLS’ REGARDING ATTACK ON BORNO VILLAGE ON 1 NOVEMBER 2020

The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to a publication in an online platform alleging that it “did not respond to calls for support when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked Takulashi Village in Shikarkir Ward, Chibok Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State in the morning of Sunday, 1 November 2020”; an information which the report alleges it obtained from supposed “military sources”. The NAF wishes to state that there is absolutely no iota of truth in the spurious allegations. Indeed, we ordinarily would not have responded to such baseless, unfounded allegations but for the need to set the record straight as well as reaffirm the NAF’s unflinching commitment to ensuring the security of Nigeria and Nigerians, wherever they may reside in the Country.

For the avoidance of doubt, it must be stated that the NAF did not receive any call for support regarding an attack at Takulashi Village in Chibok LGA on 1 November 2020. Had any such report been received, the NAF, in its characteristic responsiveness, would have certainly taken appropriate action. Indeed, the report rightly remarked that “if air support came on time, one or two air strikes would have decimated them”. However, no request in this regard was made to the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE (ATF OPLD) on the said date. Accordingly, it was very wrong of the report to state, without any basis, that the NAF ‘ignored rescue calls’.

It is pertinent to highlight that the NAF, through the ATF OPLD, has flown over 26,000 hours of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) and air interdiction missions as well as close air support missions in support of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the last 5 years. The NAF has been working ‘hand-in-glove’ with other security agencies and has a crop of well-trained, highly-motivated young pilots that are ever ready and willing to respond to emergencies, whenever called upon. Hence, it is utterly ludicrous to insinuate that the NAF would fail to respond to any such situation, if called upon. The general public is therefore enjoined to discountenance the evidently false report.

It is equally disingenuous of the online medium to refer to an isolated incident that had its peculiar nuances of predisposition to collateral damage as a basis for justifying their blatantly false claims. This smacks of gross unprofessionalism and obvious deliberate intent at mischief.

The NAF, as a professional and disciplined force, has and will continue to do its utmost to ensure the security of Nigeria and Nigerians across the Country. We remain resolute in performing our function and will continue to work in synergy with other security agencies to rid the Country of insurgents. Hence, we will not be distracted by such evidently orchestrated attempts to tarnish the hard-earned, good image of the Service.

There’s a story not often told, about Nigeria's Armed Forces Special Force (AFSF), an elite group of warriors whose operations were mostly shrouded in mystery.

Trained in Russia- Belarus in 2014, BH avoided contact with AFSF. 2nd was trained in Pakistan In 2017.

Special Forces Rescue Four From Boko Haram

The Nigerian army special forces have rescued four persons, including two aid workers from Action Against Hunger and the International Committee For Red Cross (ICRC).
The rescued persons were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents along Maiduguri-Monguno road in Borno state.
A military source said the Boko Haram insurgents came with 11 gun trucks and blocked the road, where they carried out an operation that lasted less than 15 minutes.

But the special forces trailed the group, and engaged the fleeing insurgents in a gun duel which lasted for about an hour.
“Consequently, the gallant troops overpowered the fleeing terrorists who abandoned the victims and ran away in disarray,” he said.
On June 5, the insurgents had abducted three humanitarian workers on the same road.
Muhammed Monguno, one of the three aid workers abducted on June 5, was the manager of the IDP camp in Monguno.

Faithful007:
I found out that people do that, yes, it's true, but you can't blame them, don't blame them. Nigerian military have never been lazy, they carry out successful missions as well. But you see, an average Nigerian soldier treats no civilian well. When you shoot or beat on injure unarmed people. They will forever feel belittled and hate you, the families you caused pain will hate you,as well as the hundreds on the street who witness the gruesome scene. It's not that Nigerians are the most ungrateful set of people. It's just that they have not been having good experiences with the military. So they even wish them death, because in their perspective, bh are less enemies than them. There is no way someone who has seen soldiers beat some one close to him like a child, dehumanize him, wound him or even kill him will ever support the military even if they rescue a thousand people. Americans soldiers don't brutalize citizens, Chadians soldiers have not had contact with Nigerians or have Nigerians heard of any gross misconduct with them, hence the support. It's all psychological, they're all effects and fallout. When you accuse people of being ingrates, consider what is happening in Nigeria and imagine that the person is a victim, then you may not see it that way. The only way a true solution can come is to collectively try to improve military relations with civilians. You don't force love or give reasons for love to be shown. LOVE COMES NATURALLY. It's all CAUSE and EFFECT.
Word!
You've said it. Let improve Military-civil cooperation.
One reason why most people Even love NAF than NA.
Not that they are no good men in the NA or even police but the bad record the bad ones are setting up is overwhelming...

What about the positives, or is everything that is happening around you dark and grim, no progress and no hope?

After talking about the sick soldier, let's know if the attention he was seeking for has been provided, did the authorities provide the medical support. It simple and plain.

Post negative news, also post positive news.
The day Nigeria army SF Rescued those NGO workers they didn't get this much attention o.
But Navy Seals rescued one person held by Seven bandits now...

What pains me the most about nigerians is lack of appreciation to men of our Security agencies,
Yes the US deserves some accolades for this mission but when Nigerian SFs has been conducting rescues nobody said anything,
The US seals didn't even Face strong resistance just 7 bandits
Nigerian Police Special Force that has been conducting rescue ops faces similar or more resistance but nobody dey hail them, when they Raided Ansaru Terrorist camp without military help and almost got the helo shut down, nobody hail Dem,when they rescued a lawyer kidnapped Last week nobody hail them.
Even in the NE when NGO workers where captured by ISWAP last two months NA special Forces freed all even a guy on the other thread can testify cos his friend was among the rescued ,but nobody gave them the deserved accolade..
