ABUJA — Erstwhile chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, yesterday, begged Justice Ishaq Bello of an Abuja High Court in Abuja to dismiss the 17-count amended criminal charge that was preferred against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC. Ogbulafor was on June 21, 2010, arraigned before the high court on allegation that he conspired with two others, Mr. Emeka Ebilah and Mr. Jude Nwokoro, and defrauded the Federal Government to the tune of N2.2billion in 2001. The former PDP boss was said to have used his position as the head of National Economic Intelligence Committee, NEIC, set-up to verify debts owed local contractors, to okay as genuine, several forged documents, which were relied upon to certify that three bogus companies, executed jobs worth over N2.2billion. The three fake companies they allegedly floated in 2001 to siphon N82.6m, N11.5m and N6.2m respectively, were listed by the anti-graft agency in its charge sheet as, Henrichiko Nig Ltd, DHL Consultants and Chekwas Industries. Besides, ICPC told the trial court that its investigations revealed that Ogbulafor collected kickbacks of N2m and N28m from the second and third accused persons Messrs. Ebulah and Chris Nwoke, respectively to facilitate the release of the funds. At the resumed hearing on the matter, yesterday, Ogbulafor, who was billed to open his defence vis-a-vis the charge, through his counsel Chief J.K Gadzama, SAN, entered a no-case- submission, insisting that the totality of the proof of evidence tendered before the court, failed to establish a prima-facie criminal case against him. Meantime, admitting that he actually collected N2million from the second accused person, Ogbulafor, maintained that the fund was given to him to support his campaign for the PDP national chairmanship position, adding that he had already left office by then. After listening to the parties, yesterday, Justice Bello adjourned the case till March 26 for ruling. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/n2-2bn-fraud-ogbulafor-begs-court-to-dismiss-charge-against-him/ |

For contravening the ban on promotions and lotteries on their respective networks, the telecoms regulatory agency, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC Thursday slammed a total of N22 million fine on the four GSM operators including MTN, Globacom Limited, Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Ltd (Etisalat) and Airtel. The ban covered proposed and approved promotions and lotteries after the Commission was inundated with several complaints from consumers and stakeholders against various promotions in the various networks. It would be recalled that the four top telecoms firms in the country were fined a total N1.17 b by the industry regulator by middles of last year for not meeting stipulated quality of service benchmarks called key performance indicators. Accordingly, MTN Nigeria Communications Ltd, is to pay N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) on account of five promotions at N2,000,000(Two Million Naira) for each promotion while Etisalat is to pay N6,000,000 (Six Million Naira) for three promotions in its network. Similarly, Airtel is to pay N4,000,000 (Four Million Naira) for running two promotions against the ban while Globacom will pay N2,000,000 ( Two Million) for one promotion. The notice of the sanctions, signed by the Commission’s Director of Legal and Regulatory Services, Ms. Josephine Amuwa, said, “in the event of further non- compliance with the ban, and or refusal to pay the sanction amount within the stipulated time, the Commission shall have no other option than to impose stiffer penalties in accordance with the powers of the Commission, including but not limited to payment of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira) for each day that the contravention persists”. The notice further stated that the failure of the service providers to discontinue the promotions in accordance with the commission’s directives is a direct contravention of Guidelines on adverts and promotions, as well as the Nigerian Communications (Enforcement Processes, etc) Regulations 2005. She said that all the operators have seven days to pay their respective sanction amounts from date of receipt of the sanction notice on February 22, 2013, adding that the operators were liable for payment of the sum of N1,000,000 ( One Million Naira) for any day that the contravention persists. It would be recalled that the Commission had earlier in a letter dated November 8, 2012, directed all the licensees to discontinue all promotions and lotteries running on their networks with immediate effect. Meanwhile, sanctions on MTN were as a result of five promotions including, Free Airtime for MTN to MTN calls (8AM – 5PM), MTN to MTN SMS and free MB for Data. Dial *559#, Free N100.00 airtime for MTN to MTN calls, Airtime Bonus valid for life. Dial *559#, MTN Super Saver, get 500%, bonus valid till midnight.
I am going to assume that you are being mischievous out of bordom. Else you are completely st..upid for asking that question. Why not ask why nairaland exists in the first place since pretty much every piece of Information discussed here can be found on Google? But like I said, I'll assume you are just a noisemaker and not a r*tard. :-)
thanks for proving less intelligent than i thought. Cant believe you are so blind enough to see some fake historical thread linking some tribes to a foreign races like jews, aryans and co. Is it not the lack of historical background that caused that which can be amended by a good historical fact. Tolexander: : sure! We needlike i said he that doesn't know where he is coming from(ones history) can never know his destination. So what is your problem. If you u type a question on google, it will still give you many answers in which only one my be relevant to you. Does that now warrant you talking anyhow to it. Besides, the history you are even taking about, bet you can't hold a candle to me on it. |
CFCfan: It's clearly Nigeria.i said maybe they meant ghana or south africa cos they are the african higest producers. In 2001, worlds gold minned was $22,656,759,732.01 not up to $25billion claimed to be illegally mined averagelly per year in nigeria. |
pDude: What is wrong with bolding his name? Someone on NL may know him personally, hence I did thatwhy then did you normalise it? You want me to be feeling that my brother has disgraced me again? |
maybe they wanted to say ghana or south africa. |
This sort of response is not needed here. Serious answers please. Thanks.
what sort of response do you want that you cant get on google. |
what is the problem with the OP? Why must you embolden the name to make people know the tribe he is from? But ikechukwu! Your scope aint interesting enough. |
as for me, i refused to do non of them! Urinate on a girls urine in school thinking you've had an intercourse with her. Soak biscuit in tea. Grind the biscuit in its nylon with our blow and draw with a straw. Throw the boluses of eba or amala under the table if we can't finish the food. Prefer #1 coin to buy anything in school to being given a #10 worth of food. |
kristana: lmao pharmacy is harder than med and surg!hammer it to his hearing! Medcine n surg is not in pharmacy's league when it comes to toughness. |
