femslove: In an effort to improve the quality of Nigerian film productions, the country’s president, Goodluck Jonathan, pledged in 2010 to create a $200 million loan fund to help finance film projects.I PLEDGE to Nigeria my country, to be faithful loyal and honest! This is a norm in every school's assembly. How many nigerian students' actualise the pledge after leaving the assembly ground where the pledge was recited? Seems you've forgotten that GEJ that made the pledge is also a nigerian. So far he made the pledge doesn't mean he actualised the pledge. The first question you should have asked is if the money was disbursed to the industry before making a further step to criticize their developement! I rest my case! |
i have checked it out, what else? Guess i have won a jackpot by checking him out! |
gramci: This is the Uni Ilorin that we know.satellite doesn't snap those kind of pictures where a dispensing container is being filled with a bore hole. Don't mind them jare areonakakanfo of nairaland. In fact Unilorin is even better than havard. You think it is easy to produce an electricity engineer that has all the satellite pictures at the tip of his fingers. |
something i haven't got about the news is if the bomb blasted around where the APC meeting was held or there was just a normal bomb blast in maiduguri far from where they are having the meeting. |

when one is in rome, he acts as a roman. Before the admission of every student into their various schools, there is always an oath signed on the matriculation which means he agrees and will strictly adhere to the school rules and regulations. What hearing does he want the school to offer to him than to say he was ignorant to the rule or ignorant of how the porn and secular music got to his computer system. He should have gone to leeds city or other private schools where there are more freedom if he doesn't feel like being in a public school. Every offence has its punishment which was dispensed to the guy base on his offence. |
LAGOS—Justice Mobolaji Ojo of Ogun State High Court sitting in Otta has fixed March 27, 2013 for Judgement in the suit filed by Vwamhi Longji Felix, challenging his illegal expulsion by the Covenant University, for allegedly watching pornography and secular music on his laptop. At the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, the prosecuting counsel Segun Fatoki, told the court that Felix was allegedly expelled without an opportunity of a proper hearing or viewing the evidence in accordance with standard practice as guaranteed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended. In his originating summon brought in pursuant to order 3 rules 5,6 and 8 of the Ogun State High Court civil procedure rules 2008,he asked the court to declare that invasion of the claimant room by the set of people claimed to be acting on behalf of the Dean, Student Affairs was a violation of Section 44 of Chapter 4 of the student Handbook of the Covenant University, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights as ratified. According to him, section 35 and 36 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, the court or administrative panel or tribunal, public or private, the rights and obligations of a Nigerian Citizen ought to derogate from the Nigerian constitution. He said in determining the fate of a student of the university by either the Dean Student affairs or the student’s disciplinary committee, the provision, as expressed or implied by the students handbook 2010/2014 ought not be strictly followed. Felix, in his 24 paragraphs affidavit to support his claim, stated that before he was expelled his parents had spent not less than N10 million on his school fees and other expenses. The school in its counter affidavit stated that in the school hand book it was stated that students are not allowed to be in possession of unholy films and home video or secular music tapes, either stored or directly in the computer or listen through the use of computer radio or any other electronic device when on campus during an academic session. Also, the school claimed that it is an offence that will attract punishment of expulsion for any student who indulges himself or herself in public display of or be in possession of pornographic films or photographs, exploring or viewing pornographic websites on the internet. The other respondents in the suit are the Vice Chancellor Covenant University, The Chancellor and Chairman, Executive Council, Covenant University. Justice Ojo after listening to the parties, said they should allow every individual to grow the life that they need to live, if at age 15 to 17, if they don’t live that life, they would live it when they are 30 to 35 because of too much rules. ”Children as adolescents must live as adolescents and as a youth, people must grow and we must allow them.” However the Judge adjourned Judgment till March 27, 2013. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/02/expelled-covenant-varsity-student-court-adjourns-Indecency-suit/ |
Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has replied critics of the Nigerian economy, saying the economy is buoyant and strong. Okonjo-Iweala, in a message put on social media, yesterday, dismissed reports of the poor performance of the economy and the management of the excess crude revenue. Her statement came few days after former American President, Bill Clinton, indicted the Federal Government for not using the huge revenue realised from crude oil exports to positively impact on the lives of Nigerians. Mr. Clinton had, weekend, expressed disappointment that his inclusion of Nigeria a few years ago among 10 countries that were well positioned to emerge as the world’s greatest economies has been proved wrong with the visible lack of progress in recent times, despite the huge resources at its disposal. Okonjo-Iweala, however, argued that such views were misleading as the economy was healthy, with other indices, including inflation and foreign reserves, showing positive levels of performances. In the statement entitled Federal Ministry of Finance Clarifications on the State of the Economy, the Excess Crude Account and Related Issues, signed by Okonjo- Iweala and pasted on Facebook and Twitter, the Finance Minister said: “It is essential that Nigerians understand the exact position of the economy and the integrity of these important government accounts. “This note aims to provide some facts for Nigerians on these issues, to clarify the exact position, and finally to put these concerns to rest.” Apart from Mr. Clinton, some former public officials, including a Minister of Education under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Oby Ezekwesili, have criticised Nigeria’s management of the Excess Crude Account. Ezekwesili alleging that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and that of his late predecessor, Umaru Yar’Adua, mismanaged the funds left in the account by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration. While not mentioning Mr. Clinton or Ezekwesili’s names, Okonjo-Iweala said her statement was borne out of “a number of comment” that had appeared in the Nigerian media. She wrote: “In recent times, a number of comments and articles have appeared in the media, which have tended to talk down the performance of the Nigerian economy and question the accuracy and transparency of the Excess Crude Account and the External Reserves of the country.” According to her, the specific issues that have been raised in recent times include the health and prospects of the Nigerian economy, the composition of the external reserves, and purported discrepancies in account balances reported by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. “Facts, figures” To back up the claims, the minister highlighted improvements on the nation’s economic indices, saying “Inflation is now down to single-digit at 9.0 percent in January 2013, compared with 12.6 percent in January 2012. “The exchange rate has been relatively stable, and the fiscal deficit at just less than 2 percent of GDP is on a downward trajectory, and below our threshold of 3 percent of GDP.” According to her, national debt is at a sustainable level at about 19.4 percent of GDP. Overall, GDP growth2012 was 6.5 percent, and projected at 6.75 percent for 2013, compared with the projected global growth of 3.5 percent. She said: “The above facts have been independently noted and validated by international ratings agencies such as Fitch, Standard & Poor’s and Moody’s, who have upgraded the country’s economic outlook, even as other countries are being downgraded.” But… Dr. Okonjo-Iweala said the Ministry admits the socio- economic challenges the nation faces despite these seemingly impressive indices. She said: “We know we still have a long way to go but let us keep working to correct what is wrong and stop focusing on the denigration of what is being done right.” She highlighted the need to create more jobs to curb unemployment and that poverty needs to decrease at a faster pace as “we do not want excessive inequality to be a feature of our economic growth.” According to her, the recent poverty statistics released by National Bureau of Statistics show a slight decline in poverty levels of about 2 percent between 2003 and 2010. Okonjo-Iweala said: “This needs to be further accelerated. The cost of governance also needs to be reduced, and the government is taking steps in this direction. “In conclusion, the Federal Ministry of Finance wishes to stress that the outlook for the Nigerian economy remains good, despite the current global economic uncertainty.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/02/nigerias-economy-is-strong-fg-replies-clinton/ |
starting is not as interesting as finishing the road. When the construction is completed, that is when i have a song to sing. |
This is an arrant nonsense to say the least. Guess the best thing to do now is to always check on WAEC and NECO website everyday to maintain the authenticity of ones result. I think there should be a way they should have notified the above mentioned school what fate had just befallen the result of their candidates in the exam registered with waec and suggested a possible solution to the problem. I pray the boy will be able to maintain the 1st class because this is enough to cause a psychological problem in the guy making him to be depressed and at the end of the day affects his academic performance. |

Still doubting the authenticity of this news. Cos Mr Adeleke, davido's dad, has a university in Ede, Osun state. How would he then need building a new department in another schooll, babcock, which can be done in his own school? Just thinking about the justification. |
