I hardly make comments here, but I had to respond to this discourse.
With due respect, you got @ugosample’s assertions wrong. In language, there is what is called “implied meaning” and “what is meant”. For example, You are a boy. It might mean a young male or you are not grown-up. What is implied is always different from what is meant. Now to the issue of culture; as rightly stated by him, culture is a way of life, so there is nobody in this world without culture albeit intangible or how strange it is to us. Eating habit, food, language, dressing, piercing, even tattooing are all parts of one’s culture. Before now the majority of people in Nigeria had several piercings or tattoos on different parts of their bodies however how crude the artistry was then. But now if our parents see us trying to get the same tattoos they say we are copying other people’s culture. Cultures, traditions and norms go hand in hand.
You may say they have lost their cultural values, and not that they do not have any culture.
In our modern society chatting and texting are now part of our culture. Culture is invariably in a state of change. Because people are not doing was been done before does not mean they do not have any culture. It is either they have picked up something different from the previous conventions or modified it.
Another example is polygamy practised widely until recently in Nigeria. Would it be right to say that if someone decides not to take up a second wife the person has lost his culture? There is always the issue of “identification”
We tend to choose the way we want to be identified or what to be identified with. I may be a Nigerian and yet want to be identified as an American. This might be so if I am in that environment, but there are some things that can identify us namely skin colour(for black people), facial appearance (Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc), language, food; these might be very difficult to change.
The African-Americans, of course, do have culture. They have a peculiar way of life, even if it is different what is obtained on the African continent. Even a child born of Nigerian parents but grew up in America will most of the time have different values from a child born and grew up in Nigeria.
Let us try to learn from each other, we cannot always see things in the same way. I respect other people’s opinion but that does not mean I have to accept it. Thank you very much.
Okay. My grouse was the African thingy. I hardly comment here too except am pushed to. You could see I also agreed partially with him. One love. Thanks

So please guys.. What program can one with HND try to run in Canada.. Though wishing for masters buh is Canada education system same as Nigeria? Like would such person have to go for Post Graduate first and can she do that in Canadahuh? I hope you can understand my message.. Don't know how else to relay it.. That's the best i can, don't know much in the education stuff.
You don't compulsorily need a PGD to do a masters program in canada. You can get a direct masters program with your HND. Except your G.P wasn't high enough, then you can consider a PGD. Let the gurus come, they'll be more elaborate.

Ugosample:
You don't get my point

There is nobody, or sub group without its distinct culture.

The black Americans have their distinct culture, the Hispanics have their own, and the whites have theirs too.

Culture is your way of life, and how can you say that a group has no way of life?

That is the dumb statement many Africans say, that a group have no culture undecided
Enough already. What's with your inferiority complex? He's right in a way and you're right in a way. Infact he's probably more right than you are cos if a group of people do things differently or their ways of life don't tally much, then there's little or no culture. That doesn't mean there aren't still teeny weeny things they have or do in common. You don't have to label all Africans (yourself included) dumb. WTF

the point she is making is where it is clear someone is living beyond their means she will say no e.g. I know last month you spent money on unnecessary party, or bought an expensive car then you come and ask me for school fees, I will say no because you obviously don't have your priorities straight.

If it's a different case e.g. maybe I know you fell on hard times but are usually responsible financial I will be more inclined to help rather than someone who spends irresponsibly then expects me to contribute to his child's schools fees every year.
I don't understand you.
You're typing off point.

There are people in Nigeria that I would assist in some ways because my relationship with them is different and it is mutually beneficial and I can see their mindset and work ethic is just different.
Unlike some others that have zeroed their minds about helping no matter what. Godbless you Londoner.

So pointing out your misguiding opinion about leaving abroad and condition of things has now translated to arrogance?
Yes it does.
Subtly throwing shades at people is arrogance.
You can still make a point without sounding arrogant. You were insinuating that I haven't earned a living honestly/dishonestly. That statement speaks volumes Mr. in case you don't know.

Again if you work and making an honest living then you should understand that not everybody has disposable income at a certain time to carry out a big money project back home.
This is still what I'm hammering on;
You have no idea what I'm talking about.
You picked a phrase from a lengthy post I made and started critiquing without reading fully. Point out where I talked about a big money project?
I even quoted an amount $35 once in a whole year. Did you even read the OP's situation?

You made a lot of false assumptions that lead to wonder if you have ever worked and earn an honest living either home or abroad.
To your question, Yes I have, and i'm also wondering if someone else who typed this trash, you'll probably give a ban straightaway. When did earning a honest living translate into not helping people or what exactly is your point? My problem with most people commenting on this thread is that they didn't read up and fail to understand where this discussion is coming from, besides it's not compulsory to comment on every thread. Drop your arrogance for once Mr. Chief Honourable Justwise. Thank you.

[s]Repeat this over and over again:

1. Nobody fvcking owes me anything, except he/she is my parent!
2. Nobody fvcking owes me anything, except he/she made the choice to adopt me!
3. Nobody fvcking owes me anything, except it is obvious to both that person and me that he/she is in my debt, and I expect repayment!
4. I do not really know people's financial situations, all I have is assumptions about their welfare! And even if I know their true financial situation, they do not fvcking owe me anything, except 1,2, or 3 above hold!
5. I will not expect my relatives/friends/whatever abroad to do menial jobs and send money to me! I will kill all sense of entitlement to other people's resources!
6. The world/universe/government does not give a sh1t about me, they only owe me when I pay my taxes! I will find my way in this world even when the odds are clearly stacked against me!
7. I am responsible for the choices I make, and I will take personal responsibility for my failure and progress!

The sense of entitlement on this thread is nauseating![/s]
I am personally an advocate of all you typed above. Now point out where I contravened any of the points you raised. I'm sure you can read and comprehend properly. Thanks

thanks for your reply here. I really appreciate. Even I don't know that the tuition fees of Ghana and some south africa schools are now more expensive. Europe or north America schools are still the best. Well after my ielts exams I will google out germany and finland schools then. Waooo nice to hear that they have low tuition fees. Please what of their scholarships too.
Its a pleasure.
If you have a very strong GP at the end of your programme, then you've got a great chance at obtaining scholarships in either countries, even Canada too. Although it doesn't depend on your G.P alone, there are several other factors like IELTS, GMAT etc and most importantly how you're able ti present your case on paper (Statement of purpose (SOP)).

yea if she like traveling to ghana or south Africa.
Hope you guys saying Ghana and S.A know that Ghana now denominates their tuition in dollars and its not as cheap as you think, you'll spend at least 3/4 of what would have obtained in North America or Europe. Standard Education is now expensive everywhere except maybe for tution free countries like Germany, Finland. A little research wouldn't hurt.

Even when you can help with even 5% of the said sum, you'll outrightly say you don't have, is that what you're telling us?

Okay..have you tried what I recommended?
If it's still getting stuck, try another windows 10 software (I mean change the CD) preferably to the one you used originally before the brouhaha started. Thats why windows 7 still remains the best OS so far in my opinion.
ComputersRe: HELP!!!! My Computer Continue Restarting by toluine56(m): 8:00am On Apr 20, 2017
What do you mean by resetting?
Were you reloading your O.S or formatting your system?
If it were any of the above, then you shouldn't have interrupted the process at 81%. It'll never take you to login page since you didn't allow completion of the process.

Try checking the boot order from setup set the first boot device to CDROM then restart the 'resetting' process.

What if the person in question is illegal, and not able to get a job on the blackmarket ? Things are not always as rosy for all, like people always assume.......
I agree with you that 70% of them might live comfortable, but how do you know that the remaining 30% in question are not those that their relations are expecting from and not receiving ?
Well, I'm not in support of illegals and it doesn't even make sense to expect gratification from illegals, at least not in the first few years they're trying to settle down.

It doesn't have to be rosy before you can help. There are jobs everywhere even for illegals in the US. You can always assist with the little you have. The truth is that if they can help, you'll surely know. We aren't stupid. If your uncle or relative for Naija here is well to do, shey you no go know?

That being said, I'm an advocate of 'everyone is responsible for his/her misfortunes or success', but that doesn't erase the fact that most relatives abroad don't wanna help is back home. I've seen the good and the bad. Probably you've nt experienced it before so you can't understand.

Lexusgs430:
What about if they are unemployed ? Don't you think the relations expecting funds, should also consider sending their unemployed relative some funds ?
Do they convert the $ in America, before it is spent ?
If you've been in the US, Canada for a year plus and you're unemployed, its either you're lazy, or just using it as a faucet to be selfish. My friend that just got to Ca less than a year ago does cleaning jobs and he still sends little stipends to his younger sis in Naija every two months though little.

If the family over here in Naija is well to do, then there'll be no need to help them in the first place. Now if someone travels out, completes his education and is unable to do something worthwhile either abroad or back home here with his/her foreign degree, that's a typical failure without apologies. I know there are exceptions, but 70% of them live comfortably at the end of it all.

Best and most reasonable comment so far.

What's the exchange rate of dollar to naira?

#10000 now sef is about $35 and that's me being moderate. Now if you staying abroad doing the most menial job and can't help ur people back home even with as little as #35 even if its once in a year, then forget it its either you're selfish, greedy or you don't just care about others. I have a relation abroad (not blood o) and she sends little cash once every year. I still grumble about the amount, but deep down I still appreciate it cos I know it ain't easy. This is someone with four kids and also schooling herslf. Call a spade a spade, there's absolutely no excuse for not helping no matter how little once you're abroad and I'm basing my argument on the exchange rate.
