That Nkosi Johnson's story is touching. Ironically, "there's no specific way to live a life, just do what works well for yourself". I want to be remembered for good.
I have to agree with you, but your signature column is comical to say the least ![]() |
Definitely, they were! Just think about it what is really there to celebrate in our today's world? |
victorian: I will be humbly remembered for Empowering millions of people with my God given talents.....Thank you Lord, so grateful for the privilege.. |
Geomac: That is not completely correct PDP still have presence in the SW. Just wait and see PDP will boot out ACN(APC) out of Lagos come 2015. Do you think Lagosians are smiling?Abeg tell them ooo, it seems the transport fare in Lagos is now N50 from Ogba to Obalende and the next thing, "Eko oni baje" Bunch of clowns suffering from collective amnesia ![]() |
I just want to be remembered as that guy that 'put smiles on the faces of many people as possible' before my time expires! |
gunuvi: Your handle is the same as that of an SA to Ekiti State Governor so I don't expect you to see anything bad with APC.gunuvi! gunuvi!! gunuvi!!! I called you three times to tell you that you are just wasting your time trying to educate that 'airhead' on how to reason! Just ignore the 'certified dolt' he is too proud and arrogant to learn! If in doubt, check just few lines from the history of his posts, he is an expired poster here ![]() |
If you ask me, I am not a fan of any party be it, PDP, ACN, CPC, APGA, ANPP, OPC, ACCORD PARTY, and the likes! But in my own candid opinion I won't consider the 'achievements of PDP' from 1999 because there are none, but right from the time of JONATHAN, I can tell you he made me to fall in love with his style of governance for the first time in this country (because I have never been a fan and never will of this 'wasteful system of government')! ![]() |
Kamanda: Chai!! Bros, I over-hail you O!Are you smart enough to 'withstand those OPC oops APC goons in the house' when the going gets tough? If yes, get back to me asap! ![]() |
Hardfact: I'll rather not take sides. But that's a rather giant mindboggling question that'll require some good detailed explanation to do justice to. To whom much is given, much is expected. Reminds me Nigerian govt: more you look, less you see.I think I am on a contrary view to yours, to me its a good idea! |
prost80: Mr man, not holding briefs for Fashola but give me a source of this ,above. Indeed, “vanity upon vanity, all is vanity”, so says a popular saying. The Mafia Manager (a book), told me, “the world lives on pretense”! It must be noted that most times we humans place too much priority on what really matter less in life (material things) while that which is the real essence of life (our attitudes toward fellow human beings) are often neglected and most times not taken seriously! My intention is to speak to all and at the same time speak to myself as I write and as you read along. One thing is very certain in this life we have all come to rent, and that is death! The question is, if you close your eyes in death today, what is that positive impact that you have made in the life of a fellow human being that you will be remembered for? Many place their “achievements” on the number of houses, cars, certificates, degrees, women, men, influences they ‘possess’ to themselves not minding how they ‘acquire’ those things they love to show-off at the slightest opportunities they have! It is common knowledge that we came into this world naked and it is very certain that we shall return naked, therefore those ‘material things’ (of course they are necessary) we love to brag about and the natural talents we possess would not matter anymore after our demise except the positive impacts we have used those ‘material things’ and natural talents to create. Life is transient, what we do to others matters most than what we possess for ourselves. Two individuals came to mind as I write, they are: 1) Samantha Smith 2) Nkosi Johnson • Samantha Smith: was an American schoolgirl, peace activist and child actress from Manchester, Maine, who became famous in the Cold War era United States and Soviet Union. In 1982, Smith wrote a letter to the newly appointed CPSU General Secretary Yuri Andropov, and received a personal reply which included a personal invitation to visit the Soviet Union, which she accepted. (died at age 13)! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samantha_Smith • Nkosi Johnson: Nkosi was born to Nonthlanthla Daphne Nkosi in a township east of Johannesburg in 1989. He never knew his father. Nkosi was HIV-positive from birth, and was legally adopted by Gail Johnson, a Johannesburg Public Relations practitioner, when his own mother, debilitated by the disease, was no longer able to care for him. Nkosi made a powerful impact on public perceptions of the pandemic and its effects before his death at the age of 12. He was ranked fifth amongstSABC3's Great South Africans. At the time of his death, he was the longest-surviving HIV-positive born child. (died at age 12)! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nkosi_Johnson These two children were “too small” to face challenges (as we would always say because of their ages) yet were able to surmount those challenges. One was segregated against, yet won many to his side through his works. One was maligned, yet radiates love. They were forgotten in death but remembered by providence and posterity. They were determined to change their world and those in it and that they did with unalloyed excellence. Above all, even though they were snatched away by the cold hand of death in their primes, yet were able to achieve what an octogenarian would struggle so hard to achieve. They are immortal in their deeds and in the hearts of those they have touched! Moral of this article; let’s learn to give back to LIFE, that which will outlast LIFE! |
Billyonaire: Fashola is an hypocrite then. You couldn't have said it better! He is indeed one of the deepest dye! |
Definitely in the real sense of it, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan! |
Richtalk: GEJ till 2019!!!Friend abeg tell them ooo, it seems Nairaland is fast turning into 'congregation of psychobabblers' I am yet to see any President in the history of this country (whether dead or alive) that has performed excellently well so far in just 2 years as Jonathan! Unfortunately, the 'young minds' here all want to be heard just for the fun of it, without considering one noble truth that, for the first time in our chequered history in this country we have a 'Listening President who is WORKING' ![]() |
What more can I say, this Jonathan is working ![]() |
Each time I look at the character called 'Okorocha' as the Owelle of Onitsha, I quickly remembered another 'Owelle' in the name of Nnamdi Azikiwe, who as a result of his unhealthy romance with the abokis boggled Nigeria's only chance to go their separate ways should the need arises as suggested by Awolowo in the beginning of the Independence struggle. That costly and sinister move by Azikiwe to outsmart Awolowo is still staring us in the face now. This is Okorocha's turn now, he was made by the Abokis, (I still remember the MAMSER days), he used to and still one of the hardcore loyalists of IBB (an Aboki), a former staunch member of the PDP later defected to ANPP and now APGA only to take his party single-handedly to the newly and hurriedly formed APC (of course he has succeeded in creating a small faction of APGA)! Definitely, with the antecedents of the man, Okorocha, I think he needs to be closely watched because of his unnecessary 'romance' with the ABOKIS! ![]() |
Tomakint clears throat and was about to type when he remembers this: To avoid being banned, please ensure that your post is not offensive to Islam ***men bobo maclatunji yi ti tough ju*** |
The political calculation will still play out like this; the opposition (APC) is a welcome development and also adds beauty to our own democracy, hence, it will only make Jonathan's government to work harder which is good anyway! ![]() |
The Black Prayer This is deep, so take your time. Why Did You Make Me Black Lord ... Lord ... Why did you make me black? Why did you make someone the world would hold back? Black is the color of dirty clothes, of grimy hands and feet... Black is the color of darkness, of tired beaten streets... Why did you give me thick lips, a broad nose and kinky hair? Why did you create someone who receives the hated stare? Black is the color of the bruised eye when someone gets hurt... Black is the color of darkness, black is the color of dirt. Why is my bone structure so thick, my hips and cheeks so high? Why are my eyes brown, and not the color of the sky? Why do people think I'm useless? How come I feel so used? Why do people see my skin and think I should be abused? Lord, I just don't understand... What is it about my skin? Why is it some people want to hate me and not know the person within? Black is what people are "Labeled" when others want to keep them away... Black is the color of shadows cast... Black is the end of the day. Lord you know my own people mistreat me, and you know this just ain't right... They don't like my hair, they don't like my skin, as they say I'm too dark or too light! Lord, don't you think it's time to make a change? Why don't you redo creation and make everyone the same? God's Reply: Why did I make you black? Why did I make you black? I made you in the color of coal from which beautiful diamonds are formed... I made you in the color of oil, the black gold which keeps people warm. Your color is the same as the rich dark soil Your color is the same as the black stallion and panther, Oh what majestic creatures indeed! All colors of the heavenly rainbow can be found throughout every nation... When all these colors are blended, you become my greatest creation! Your hair is the texture of lamb's wool, such a beautiful creature is he... I am the shepherd who watches them, I will ALWAYS watch over thee! You are the color of the midnight sky, I put star glitter in your eyes... There's a beautiful smile hidden behind your pain... That's why your cheeks are so high! You are the color of dark clouds from the hurricanes I create in September... I made your lips so full and thick, so when you kiss...they will remember! Your stature is strong, your bone structure thick to withstand the burden of time... The reflection you see in the mirror, that image that looks back, that is MINE! So get off your knees, look in the mirror and tell me what you see? I didn't make you in the image of darkness... I made you in the image of ME! |
