Crime › Guys Beware: A Brazilian Wife Attempts To Kill Her Husband With Poisoned V! by tomakint(op): 2:52pm On Feb 02, 2013
A BRAZILIAN woman has confessed to trying to kill her husband by putting poison in her vagina and urging him to have MouthAction with her, a news agency claims.
The bizarre murder plot, dubbed "cunning cunnilingus" by one commentator, took place in the city of Sao de Jose Rio Preto.
The intended victim, a 43-year-old man who has not been named, says his wife tried to lure him into bed and encouraged him to perform MouthAction on her. His suspicions were aroused when he noticed an unusual odour emanating from her private parts and, fearing she was unwell, took her to hospital, Brazil's Tvi24 reports. Medical tests revealed she had doused her vagina with enough of the unspecified toxin to kill both her husband and herself.
Confronted with the test results the woman reportedly confessed to her crime. It is believed she hatched the bizarre plot after asking her husband for a divorce, a request he now seems rather more likely to acquiesce to. Tvi24 says the woman has received medical treatment and sources claim her husband plans to sue her for attempted murder.
Vagina homicide is, needless to say, a highly unusual crime and a local police officer called Walter Coacino Junior has reportedly ordered "further investigation" due to the "nature" of the case. The woman may still face murder charges, he said.
The Jezebel website points out that "poisoning someone through your vagina is not that good of an idea" because "your vagina is fairly absorbent and shoving a bunch of poison in it will probably hurt you as much as it hurts the person you're trying to kill."
But Salon's Katie McDonough says the fact the man rushed his wife to hospital despite her death-by-vagina plotting suggests "chivalry is not dead".

But it will still surprise you that many of us "Southerners" still want this country to remain one despite the fact that we "can never be one"! Remember, the Abokis want out in this 'inglorious marriage' shortly after arriving from Aburi during Gowon regime before the Nigerian-Biafran War, unfortunately it was the then Allison Ayida led (a southerner) civil service commission that convinced them to stay, and now we are in this mess.Trust me there are still many 'Allisons in the house' who want this contraption to still exist as ONE! cool

Health › Chocolate Drinks: The Health Benefits In Them! by tomakint(op): 4:04pm On Feb 01, 2013
This is a preparation made from the fruit of the cacao tree and used as a flavoring and as an ingredient in beverages and various kinds of confectionery. The cacao tree is native to Central and South America. The seeds produced by the tree are known as cocoa beans. When Native Americans first began cultivating cocoa beans is unknown, but residues of cocoa have been discovered on pots dating back to about 600 BC.

Nutritionally, chocolate is mainly an energy source, with only small amounts of nutrients. According to the National Nutrient Database of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), a 100 g (3.5 oz) bar of dark chocolate contains 32 g (1.1 oz) of fat and 48 g (1.7 oz) of sugars. The fat in chocolate consists of approximately equal amounts of oleic acid - a monounsaturated fat like that found in olive oil - and two saturated fats, stearic and palmitic acid.
Despite the lack of nutrients in chocolate, a number of recent medical studies indicate that dark chocolate may confer certain health benefits. Dark chocolate is rich in naturally occurring compounds known as flavonoids. Flavonoids are thought to have protective benefits because they contain antioxidants, molecules that help cells resist damage caused by free radicals (reactive atoms or molecules with an unpaired electron). In addition to chocolate, flavonoids occur in a variety of food and drinks, including apples, peanuts, tea, red wine, cranberries, and onions. Flavonoids are part of a larger class of compounds known as polyphenols. The flavonoids in chocolate are sometimes called flavonols.

Health Benefits
It must be noted that two significant studies on the possible health benefits of chocolate were published in 2003 in prestigious scientific journals. One study, published in Nature magazine, found that only dark chocolate was a potent antioxidant. This study established that adding milk to chocolate or drinking milk with dark chocolate prevents the body from absorbing the antioxidants in chocolate. The second study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that dark chocolate appeared to lower high blood pressure among middle-aged people with mild cases of hypertension. A later study by Italian researchers at the University of L’Aquila corroborated the finding that dark chocolate could help lower blood pressure. This study also found that dark chocolate helped boost the body’s ability to metabolize sugar from food, a finding that could have implications for the treatment of diabetes. Other studies have found that dark chocolate can improve cardiovascular health, as well as thin the blood, in much the same way that aspirin does, thus cutting the risk of clots.

There are many myths attached to drinking hot chocolate drinks which are completely false. A hot dark chocolate (not mixed with milk) contains antioxidants (substances that prevent oxidation), which help inhibit cancer, heart diseases, age-related muscular degeneration and aging in general. Let’s consider the following;

• It’s concentration of antioxidants is almost twice as strong as red wine, about two to three times stronger than that of green tea and four to five times stronger than that of black tea.
• A cup of hot cocoa tea contains 611mg of the phenolic compound, gallic acid equivalents and 564mg of the flavonoids epicatechin equivalents. The antioxidant gallic acid is used to treat internal hemorrhages, albuminuria (the presence of albumin in the urine, which can indicate kidney disease) and diabetes.
• The flavonols help your body process nitric oxide, which is why hot cocoa can improve blood flow, help lower your blood pressure and improve heart health.
• The flavonols in hot chocolate drink help prevent platelets in your blood from mingling together and forming clots.
• Drinking hot chocolate can help in reducing the levels of stress hormones in the blood, it aids the increase of blood flow and oxygen to the brain thereby making one to think well!

Note: A cup of hot chocolate drink every morning with little or no milk can just be the need of the hour in your daily food. Please avoid the fake ones as these can give negative results in your health status on the long run. Stay healthy!

ifihearam: It cannot split because those agitating for her split her doing so for egocentric reasons, secondly there is no visible or viable reason that will amount for a nation like nigeria to split. Tae time to ask yourself some questions, why must it split?? Is it religious intolerance, diverse enthnic groups?? Are these reasons for a an entity called nigeria to split? Uneven representation of federal charaterhuh Tell me please.

In conclusion, nigeria can and will never split unless we make the mistake of making an igbo man a president then they will exhume the dream of the biafra republic which is a lost one otherwise what does the northerners have to rely on for sustenance? Even even the west sef?

Than you.
@ the first bolded; but many countries have split along that line what will make ours different undecided
@ the second bolded; What gives you the self-assurance that it's only an Igbo Presidency that will split this country? I am of a contrary view, Jonathan for instance was a 'Biafran' although not of the same generation as those who partook in the war, but one thing is sure, Nigeria is not immune to break-up (you can quote me) cool

LocalChamp: How to avoid Nigeria’s breakaway in 2015 – IBB
On February 1, 2013 · In News 12:56 am

By HUGO ODIOGOR & CHARLES KUMOLU

Former Military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd), yesterday undertook a critical view of the predictions made by soothsayers, including the United States of America that Nigeria will disintegrate in 2015 and suggested ways to ensure the predictions do not become a reality.

General Babangida spoke where he was the chairman of the public presentation of two books in honour of former External Affairs Minister, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Said he: “As Nigerians, we are aware of the great doubts that have been cast about what 2015 portends for the continuing existence of our nation. I am aware that Nigerians have taken great umbrage at these predictions. Even Lord Lugard who founded what has been called Nigeria gave it a life-span of 100 years.

“I regard it as a challenge to our intelligence to ensure that these portends and prophesies do not become self-fulfilling. We should engage these predictions on an intellectual level, testing whether the facts justify the conclusions.

ifihearam: The only time this country can divide is when an IGBO man is in power and that will never happen especially not under the fatherly watch of GEJ,he will lead this country till 2019 and all predictions will not materialise.
IBB has said it all,the politics of federal character needs to be done evenly and that is what his excellency is actually doing so where is the division coming from...

Nigeria's problem is more than meet the eyes, this current system of government (pseudo-democracy) is too expensive and wasteful to move Nigeria forward not even Fashola will 'fix anything' if he emerges! We need a system that will stem the level of exuberance that is attached to this system of government, perhaps a "CONFAB" might be necessary as a major step to bring about this 'new system'!

News like this calls for 'deep reflections' indeed, a lot is wrong with Nigeria and her leaders! undecided The 'expected change' (Disintegration) may just just happen anytime from now, the ground is really fertile for it! I am watching cool The principle of egalitarianism was more pronounced when Nigeria was under regionalism, at least going by what obtains in each region. Ironsi scattered that wonderful platform and Gowon watered it to maturity by his creation of 12 states, a precedent that led to Nigeria’s precarious situation till date. No thanks to these two soldiers! You will agree with me that, a belligerent Nigeria is what this present arrangement (a too powerful central government plus a multi-coloured system of government) has turned Nigeria into. I would have preferred to see a more united and purposeful Nigeria entrenched in the principle of egalitarianism but with this present arrangement? No way! I would rather be a staunch supporter of a bloodless divided Nigeria; I believe Nigeria can divide peacefully! What many emotional-laden Nigerians have failed to understand is that we only practiced with regionalism that favoured federalism for 6 years, if we had stay a little longer with it, by now we (as a Nation) would have been the “real giant of Africa” and a force to be reckoned with economically in the comity of nations! cool
Nairaland General › Re: Appeal Court To Determine Rev. Kings Fate Today. by tomakint: 10:40am On Feb 01, 2013
Kcxee: The Court of Appeal in Lagos will Friday (today) decide whether or not to quash the death sentence passed on the General-Overseer of the Christian Praying Assembly, Chukwuemeka Ezeugo (aka Rev. King), by a Lagos High Court, Ikeja on January 11, 2007.

The appellate court headed by Justice Amina Augie on November 5, 2012 had heard arguments of parties on the appeal filed by Ezeugo, through his counsel, Mr. Olalekan Ojo.

Ojo had argued that the lower court judge, Justice Joseph Oyewole, who handed down the death sentence, erred in law in many respects.

But the prosecution, represented by the Lagos State Solicitor-General, Mr. Lawal Pedro, (SAN), urged the court to uphold Oyewole’s judgment.

“We urge your Lordships to dismiss this appeal,” Pedro said.

Oyewole had convicted Ezeugo and sentenced him to death by hanging for the alleged murder of a church member, Ann Uzoh.

The cleric was on September 26, 2006, first arraigned on six counts of attempted murder.

The prosecution had said Ezeugo poured petrol on the deceased and five others and set them on fire thereafter.

Uzoh died on August 2, 2006, 11 days after the incident, because of the injuries sustained from the incident.

However, Ojo, in his notice of appeal filed on January 16, 2007, raised 16 grounds of appeal against the judgment.

On June 10, 2008, the appellate court granted him leave to argue additional grounds through an amended notice of appeal filed on June 15, 2008.

At the hearing of the appeal, Ojo, who said Ezeugo did not commit the crime and was not at the scene, noted that Uzoh in two statements before her death had said she sustained the injuries in a generator accident.

He added that Uzoh exonerated Ezeugo in the statements, claiming that the latter was not responsible for her injuries.

Ojo further said there was a third statement in which the deceased was said to have claimed the appellant was the one who ordered petrol to be poured on her, thereby contradicting the first two statements.
