owobokiri: If buhari wants to turn Nigeria into a production-oriented country, he should just go and learn from the Chinese.. He shouldn't be there trying to prove he has got a clue..., he hasn't and he shouldn't be desperate to reinvent the wheel.. Just copy "word for word" what the Chinese did and this country will be flying high in 20 years.. To start with, have a well planned economy! Forget all those nasty talks about how wrong a planned economy is. The Chinese economy is the fastest growing economy today and that started since the Politburo started mapping out plans on where to channel more skilled labor, more resources, more infrastructural development and more aid in their economy. You have to plan, you have to manage the plans by objectives/time, you have to inform the citizens of the opportunities being created in these areas of the economy, you have to provide skills acquisition centers for them to imbibe the skills to function optimally in these areas, you have to create solid banks to lend at cheap rates to SMEs in these areas and you have to look out for diplomatic openings to help export these finished goods to foreign lands where they are mostly needed... That is the job of a government and that's why i think those who keep following that liberal bullshyt about government having no business in business are just living in a foools paradise.. I tell you what....."flesh and blood hath not revealed this to you but my Father in Heaven" you are a thinker bro. |

azimibraun: I know Americans are more understanding than Nigerians when it comes to patriotism especially when trillions of Dollars have been genuinely made privately by private citizens hence they would not let the great USA be put to shame like Nigerians are doing to their country because trillions of Dollars where made by public officials serving the government. Trump and Buhari both have a similar economic policy" use your comparative advantage" Buhari said "produce and buy Nigeria" Trump said " Buy America, Hire America" what was the response from Nigerians, we couldn't take the advantage of the initiative becouse those with the means got them illegally and would not invest through proxies. So we are stucked. Except we grow at this slow pace or we go back to importing everything and create a huge deficit balance of payment. Americans on the other most likely will respond to the policy by quickly investing in those areas of American needs that Trump will stop importation and fill the gap in record time to prevent the Nigerian experience. America will experience a slight inflation because of patriotism. Nigeria is suffering Hyper inflation due to unpatriotic citizens and unwilling local investors and neck deep importers who don't want to embrace change and go into local production. How do you blame a government for doing the right thing because her citizens are ether obdurate or too blind deaf and dumb to see an initiative? Buhari's government is giving no excuses. They are only dealing with a nation of wicked and unwilling citizens. Some of which have penetrated their ways into government. So the President and his government has this to deal with. You tried but no thanks to your naive submission. America is a producing economy with Apple, GE, and other global brands you already know so Trump can say buy America and eat America. In California alone, a state in US (which happens to be the 6th largest economy in the world) can boast of over 77,000 mechanized and sophisticated farms that produce billions of dollars worth of agricultural products. So what is the basis for comparison between a consuming economy as ours compared to a producing economy as US total whatever we claim to be producing locally like sorghum, rice, beans, cassava, corn etc are they enough to take care of our domestic consumption alone? Not to talk of how they can be commercialized to fetch us heavy money. Think again bro. |

Sibrah: What will blind hate or ignorance profit any liberal soul? The price of dollar is simply a function of its demand and supply. FG has been the one supplying 85% of $forex. Commonsense should tell the vile amongs us that one the govt's major dollar source - oil sales - suffers our dollar supply goes down and demands further pushes dollar price upward. Those irrelevant stats you bandied up there won't be complete without you stating our recurrent expense as of 1999. Your brand of economics must have been handed over to you by your forefathers and not what our learned Adam Smith, Keynes coined for this modern world. Common sense should inform you that high price of oil is always a major boost to our huge forex reserve. You keep harping on demand and supply as if you are talking to kindagarten kids. What is Nigeria producing that is internationally recognized? Please don't mention oil, I need a commodity or an innovation of course none. Need I tell you that Nigeria is a consuming economy that thrives more on monetary policies of its government and this is where your uncle Buhari lost it. The fact is, Muhammadu Buhari's rudderless monetary policy and not a drop in oil prices is responsible for Nigeria's current woes. Impossible to take a free market economy, turn it into a command economy because one lacks critical thinking capacity and expect different results - no way. Incompetences, Cluelessness........wrong policies, all these destroyed our economy......no thanks to apc led government. I am tired of educating kids. Demand and supply mostly affects a producing economy more and not as you imagined for a consuming economy as Nigeria. |

Sibrah: It easy for any pained soul to foam in the mouth about dollar rate of N504/$. Our system of defending the dollar rate with dollar reserve is not feasible if our dollar supply via oil sales isn't high. How much did GEJ govt earn asides oil sales? ........ask yourself how much Obj inherited from the military in 1999 (about $3.8 billion) how much was oil then (around $9 per barrel) yet dollar vs naira was stabilized and no recession of this magnitude you wanna know how? He went on a rebranding of Nigeria to the outside world that is, he opened Nigeria to the frontiers of business globally and gradually our oil, telecommunications, bureau de change, capital market, maritime, agriculture and other sectors started picking up. I ask you now, what has your Buhari done so far to fight this recession? You know what he did something your lots are fond of doing and still doing, blame Good luck Jonathan. Obasanjo had all the excuses in the world to blame Abdulsalam, he never did but did something reasonable, engaged the best brains at his disposal to turn the tide. Learn and be wise. |

Democratic representative, Maxine Waters said the impeachment investigation of President Trump is already underway and it would be her greatest desire to see him impeached. Breitbart reported: Monday on CNN’s “Newsroom,” when asked about her comments last week stating that her “greatest desire” would be to impeach President Donald Trump, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said investigations had “already started” and that some of the investigation leads to the “possibility of impeachment.” Partial transcript as follows: BALDWIN: You are making news today saying Donald Trump’s actions are leading himself to possible impeachment. Explain to me why you are going there two weeks into his presidency. WATERS: First of all, just let me say these are not normal times. We have a president who is creating chaos and division. So many questions about his conflict of interest. Lies about whether or not he separated himself from the businesses he claimed he would separate himself from. Not showing his tax returns. Putting his arms around Putin, defending Putin, working with the Kremlin. I want to know, and a lot of people want to know was there collusion between Putin and the Kremlin and this president as they hacked our DNC and our DCCC and some of us. We want to know how deep does that go. BALDWIN: Congresswoman, what’s the evidence. forgive me for jumping in, but what is the evidence that would lead to impeachment here? WATERS: That’s what I’m telling you. We have investigations that have already started. There is an investigation in the Senate Intelligence yes, in the House you have investigations going on in several places in several ways. This man is questionable. and what I’m saying is, because we are suspicious, many of us about who he is, where he came from, what his actions are and all of his conflicts and this business of loving Putin and the Kremlin so much, we have to find out more about him. And some of that I think leads to the possibility of impeachment. And I think that’s legitimate to say given everything we know at this point. http://redstatewatcher.com/article.asp?id=61718

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has denied reports that he is under pressure to resign.
Following intense speculation on the fate of President Muhammadu Buhari, rumours started flying around that northern governors had met with two former heads of state and decided to force Osinbajo to resign.
This, it was speculated, was to avoid the Goodluck Jonathan situation – where President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua died less than three years in office and his then vice-president stepped into the vacant position as stipulated in the constitution.
As a result, the north lost its turn in the presidency and power returned to the south.
This is believed to have fuelled the rumours that Osinbajo was being pressurised to resign to allow Senate President Bukola Saraki – from the north-central zone – take over in the case of a repeat of the Yar’Adua scenario.
The acting president has sternly denied the rumours.
“I am not under any pressure to resign,” he told the media in Abuja.
“I was voted for by the people of this nation, myself and Mr. President, and so the people of this nation have not asked us to resign.
“I am absolutely not under any pressure whatsoever. The truth is that there has been no pressure from any source asking me to resign.” https://www.thecable.ng/osinbajo-elected-resign
