Hi mama, I'm 6 weeks post partum and I still take warm water. What I noticed is that anytime I take the water my body expels blood but any day I don't, I dont expel blood so I would advice you keep on with it... I also heard EBF helps flatten the tommy though I don't know how true it is but please don't tie it...

If after every every, your tommy still doesn't go down, just love yourself like that.. Its not easy to walk that journey with a full human in there..

Thanks for your response. I'm doing EBF I hope it helps. Drinking warm water is another big work for me o.
Make God help I beg

I can’t say if hot water helps. But I do know breastfeeding helps. The uterus contracts as you breastfeed. Infact the contractions can really be painful during the 1-2week pp.

DNA also plays a role. Did u have flat tummy before pregnancy? If yes, then your likely going to get it back to that or somewhat close to flat eventually with little or no physical effort. Generally try not to worry much. Breastfeed often and just let your body heal gradually. You can start waist trainer, exercise, etc about 5-6months pp.

Your body is perfect. You housed a whole human being for 9months in there. Be kind to your body naaa... it needs time.

My dear thank you so much. I will try not to worry. My tommy was not very flat before pregnancy.

Make I rest self

BS BS!

I woke up on 28th May, 2022. Went to the toilet to pee and saw whitish discharge I knew immediately that baby was on his/her way cos I wasn't sure of the sex.

I went about doing my house chores. No other sign of labour for days. 2nd June (my next appointment) I told hubby the previous day that I will be going for check up. He was busy I had to go alone. The mid wife checked and told me that baby was in cephalic position and complained of post date, I was sent to see the doctor, I went, vital signs were checked, baby's position was checked and the doctor told me that the baby was not lying well (transverse), I'm overdue, had previous CS can't be induced bla bla bla i was shocked cos i scanned two weeks before then and everything was fine. The doctor then booked me for CS the next day. Where de money?
I went somewhere quiet and cried my eyes out.

I called hubby immediately and he came to the hospital, he met me crying and he was visibly shaking , he asked what the problem was and I couldn't talk I just handed him my folder, no patient to read through i now explained to him. He suggested we meet another doctor, we met him luckily he was with the other doctor, I was scanned and we were told that baby was oblique, big and if my uterus start contracting with the size of the baby I might have a case of ruptured membrane or uterus. They told us that we should thank God I didn't go into Labour before then. Hmmm! Too many complications we had no option
I slept in the hospital against the next day 3rd June, contractions all through the night I was like, see contraction I was hoping for since e no come.

On 3rd June, the doctors had an emergency case after which they prepared me for for theatre. At 8:45am the injection was given. Past 9am I was told baby was out crying his lines out. I was discharged 1week after cos it's a general anesthesia.

I was hoping for Vbirth but I thank God I didn't go into labour before the CS

Hubby is overjoyed God don give am boy. Men and baby

Thank God it ended in praise cool

B.S. - (PT 2)

When I got home I didn’t bother going in, I told hubby to sharpaly go and cook a bowl of ewedu for me and I started climbing the stairs in our building. When I got tired I went inside to drink the ewedu, eat more pineapple and dates. Then hubby and I went out for a walk. I read that curb walking is more effective than normal straight walk. So that’s how I started walking round the community, one feet on the curb and the other feet on the road. People driving by were just giving me looks like who is this weirdo undecided. I didn’t even look at them me that contractions was hitting back to back every 4 minutes. But in retrospect I really must have looked really weird with my big jilbab and my tamurege one-leg-up walk by the roadside grin.

After I got tired we made our way home, it was around 5pm at this time. When I got home I just knelt on the floor, pick needle and thread and started putting finishing touches on my baby’s coming home outfit. For my mind my baby must look good for his hospital photoshoot. Contraction was every 4 minutes now and anytime it hits me within that 40 seconds I’d fling the cloth away and pick it back up for the remaining 3 minutes and 20 seconds break in between.

Hubby kept saying we should go back every time I shouted with each contractions but I refused, I went back outside and continued climbing the stairs. By 7:30PM the cramp was just too intense for me I shouted for hubby and said oya let’s start going o.

We got there and I was hooked back onto the monitor, after my V.E they said I was at 4CM. Ye! shocked Moku! Just 4CM since morning after all my wahala and I’m already seeing stars. At this point they came in and offered me epidural. Note that since my 34 weeks my OB has been asking me if I’d be willing to take the epidural but I always refused point blank. But with the pain I was experiencing I changed mouth and said they should just prepare it for me. That I might take it or not depending on how far I can go with the pain.

A nurse came by around 11PM to examine me and I was still at 4CM. She told me if I don’t make significant progress the doctor will have to break my water and also induce contractions. At this point I knew this idea of being plugged to the bed wasn’t working for me. All these while the nurses kept coming to check on me and offering me the epidural. It got to a stage it was annoying sef abi something else is there ni I said I don’t want angry. So I called the nurse and told her I want to be mobile and try to exercise. So she had to go get me a monitor with wheels I can move with, and she also got me a bouncing ball for exercise. I started alternating between walking round the room with hubby pushing the monitor beside me, bouncing on the ball and rocking on the rocking chair in the labour room. But I still felt like I could do bettter. So I called the nurse and asked if I could go out to the lobby for walk. She said she’d have to go ask if that is allowed cause it is unusual for people to be walking up and down the lobby.

She came back and said it was fine. The first thing that struck me when I got to the lobby was how quiet it was. Imagine a labour ward being as quiet as a graveyard while people were actually in labour. These people are bout the soft life o. Dem done sama dem epidural dem just Dey enjoy. Me I just started walking up and down the long lobby. In fact every nurse that saw me and hubby was always so startled like it must have been very unusual for them. They must be thinking that which kind sufferhead human being is this grin.

After about 2 hours of alternating between walking, bouncing on a ball, and using a rocking chair I was checked again and AlhamdulilLah 6cm already. The nurse who checked me said whatever it is I was doing I should keep doing it. I continued with the exercise but by the time it was around 3AM I was too tired and in pain. I decided to leave Superman for Clark Kent so I succumbed and requested for the epidural cry. And also agreed to get IV for fastened contractions and to burst my water.

The epidural was injected into my spine around the lower back and within a few minutes the pain of contractions started easing off and my leg started feeling numb. Almost immediately I feel asleep feeling so tired and relieved to be free of pain after 15 hours of labour.

When I woke up around 6 am I could see they were about to set up the line for fastening the contraction and burst my water. At this stage I only felt a slight tingle in my body from the waist down. I couldn’t move my legs and they felt bloated when I touched them. Just as they were about to burst the water, I heard the nurse telling my hubby that ‘oh look that’s her water gushing out itself’, the water had broken itself. I kept sleeping and waking up at intervals until I was finally woken around 10:AM to the news that I was 10CM and set to start pushing.

About 8 medical personnel trooped in and the lead doctor inclined my bed and placed my legs in stirrups that were attached to the lower part of each side of the bed. That way I was on my back and my legs were wide open to them. I was worried about how I was gonna push and even know I was pushing when all my body was dead from the waist down. They told me not to worry that I’d be coached.

After everything was set for labour I was told that once the contraction hits on the screen I was to talk a deep breath in then push out the breath as hard as I could as if I want to poop. Then they asked if I wanted to watch myself push the baby out. I said yes, so they brought in a tall large mirror on wheels and placed in a convenient position where I could see what was happening down there.

Then the pushing began. There were 5 rounds of pushing all together with three pushes per round. First round nothing happened, second round just blood came out. At this point I noticed I was getting more distracted by me looking at the mirror. So I stopped looking at the mirror and focused more on pushing. I was also given a towel to put under my knee and use it to pull my legs towards me while also raising my back as if I wanted to look in between my legs as I’m pushing. By the third round the head was showing at the entrance.

The end.

Hello mama Tomblessings
Just remembered we had a conversation here where u said u were trusting God for financial provisions.
Hope things are better now? Have u been able to sort yourself a little bit?

My dear, God has never failed and He wouldn't fail me. I have been able to buy some basic things.

I preseverd some of my daughter's clothing's that I can use although I gave many out but these first three months baby won't need much to wear.

God will surely provide the delivery fee before EDD.

Thank you so much for asking it means a lot to me

B.S (Part 1)

First I give praise to Almighty Allah for giving me the grace to share this story.

So this mama had always wanted to give birth at her 41st week due to some personal reasons. My due date was April 26th and I stubbornly refused to set my heart on that date despite warnings from hubby.

So I kept pushing a lot of things that had to the with the birth forward so as not to induce labour as if I was in control of the date. As at April 26th my EDD, I had not even finished making my babies outfit and I was still holding off on eating pineapple, ewedu, and dates as advised by other mums.

Hubby finally had a veteran mum speak to me regarding my lackadaisical attitude and she advised it’s better if I start taking these things that’d make delivery easier now rather than later in case baby decided to come before my preferred date so I don’t end up regretting. I sha listened to her and went to buy 2 big pineapples and a bowl of dates and started eating them aggressively from the night of 26th. In fact I ate pineapple and dates only all through that period morning and night for my fast - not just for the labour - but more because I had deprived myself of pineapple all through my pregnancy (because I heard it might cause miscarriage in earlier stages) and now I wanted to binge eat it.

Note that on my 39th week appointment when I was already 1cm, my OB and hubby ganged up against me angryand said I’d probably come in for delivery before the 40th week appointment day which fell on the 28th of April (2 days after my EDD). When I kept insisting that lailai she said anyway whatever happens she won’t let me go beyond my 41 weeks day. So if the baby follows my chosen schedule I have to set a time to come in for induction on that date.

On the 26th day, I had no feeling of labour and I was feeling fly. 27th day, still nothing I was still jumping up and down cheesy. In fact by the night of the 27th day I was just running my mouth off to hubby about how he and the conniving doctor will be so disappointed by the time I show up for my appointment tomorrow morning at 40 weeks+2 days grin

Anyway the next morning (28th) which was my clinic day, I woke up and was having pain in my lower region. I wasn’t worried because of recent I always have pain in my pubic region when my bladder is full in the morning and I have to get up from the bed with great difficulty. Anyway I went to the bathroom to pee, after finishing my business, I wiped and ghen ghen I saw blood shocked.

I was calm, so I called out to hubby in his sleep and said start packing it’s time for the hospital. Poor guy was confused thinking it was clinic, I said oga na the real deal be this. We are going to the hospital not the clinic.

Note that I already got some heads up from a neighbor of mine who gave birth 2 months ago in the same hospital I was to use. She labored for over 24 hours trying V.D before they had to do emergency C.S for her. When I got to the emergency section of the hospital, a wheelchair was brought for me but I refused and said I wanted to walk in. At this point I had started regretting holding things off and was looking for every means that would make labour easier for me. Even if na that small walk upstairs that’d help baby come out faster. But the attendant refused and said it was hospital’s policy for me to be wheeled in. At this point I hadn’t started feeling painful contractions. I sha got on reluctantly and was wheeled into a labour room.

Then I was told to take off all my clothes and put on the hospital gown then lie on the bed. I asked the nurse that se everything including pant? She said yes. I said but I’m still seeing blood so she gave me a white towel to put down there like a pad.

A medical personnel later came in and examined me and she said I was still 2 centimeters and all we have to do is wait. So she connected me to the monitor and I could see my baby’s heart rate and my contractions on the screen above. Then she said If I have any questions or need help or have any concerns I should dial the line for the nurse. At this point my people, I have started getting painful menstrual-like cramps every 6 minutes embarassed.

Hubby had gone out to buy coconut because I have read and seen mums whose babies were affected by colic. After doing a search through Nairaland for preventative measures I could see that coconut water had the highest vote. But we didn’t want these medical personnel to know cause they are funny they could decline and maybe even put you under watch/radar for baby abuse. So hubby and I had devised a plan for giving the baby the coconut water as the first liquid after birth.

I got to the hospital by 9 am, when it was 1:00pm and still no movement from 2CM and pain was getting higher I called hubby that I want to go back home and start walking and climbing stairs o. This one these people just put me on top bed as if I dey bedrest. I don’t want this labour to lead to a C-section. Hubby agreed. So I called the nurse and told her to inform the doctor I wanted to leave for home.

About 5 medical personnel walked in. My people, turns out my conniving clinic doctor was also on duty that day in the hospital shocked. She was one of the doctors that came in to attend to me and had a funny look on her face as if to say Se I no tell you, then she said smiling “darling here you are, turns out your baby wants his own date and not mummy’s date” undecided. Me I was just like wo I don’t have time for story Abeg discharge me fast fast.

They sha talked to me and said I don’t have to go if I don’t really want to, I said no o I will go o. So they gave me 4 signs to check out for and come back if I notice any of it. 1.If my water breaks 2 If baby moves less 3. If the contractions are too intense. Then my conniving clinic doctor said “Who knows your baby might hold off till May 3rd” undecided. I no even look her face, I sharpaly signed the consent form for discharge and quickly vamoosed outta the hospital. At this point, I was still stuck on 2cm, contraction was coming in every 5 minutes and lasting for 30 seconds - Omo that 30 seconds be like jahannam (hellfire) - and I wanted to quickly go and apply fire brigade approach at home cry.

Interesting! Thank you for this detailed story. Lemme quickly grab a bowl of popcorn. I de come
