I noticed dat clause in the letter as well. However, It would be nice if we could insist on this when we report for posting.

Sorry what medical report are you talking abt? I didn't hear abt dis. Those of us from SS didn't do medical report unlike those from SW. Is it really necessary?

awodman: If you have got the time go through this thread for first hand testimony from nairalanders who are amongst those recruited

www.nairaland.com/1236759/transmission-company-nigeria-tcn
Hello.
I'm one of the 522 recently employed engineers in TCN. The recruitment was conducted by external consultants not by Govt directly. Yes the quota system was used (if it isn't used, some educationally-challenged zone will complain of marginalisation) and to be best of MY KNOWLEDGE merit was then used.
I do not know anyone in Govt before someone accuses me of being a beneficiary of godfatherism.
And I hope there will be an conducive environment for d new system to succeed (hence d massive clear-out with good pay-off package) cos I don't want to be part of failure.
So abeg pray for us new guys going there for us to succeed in dis massive task. Cos let's face it, stable electricity supply is for everyone's benefit, no need to play d political card here, it shdn't be a privilege but a bare necessity in d modern age.
Regards

tos4christ: It seems those are concluding the salary is the basic 37,000 have not worked in a corporate institution before, my basic salary when i was in firstbank is 26652, which gives an annual of 319824. during training we were paid 42k for 4 months when we finished, we were given employment letters and put on probation where we were paid in full 185,000. upon confirmation, salary became 133,000 and over 800k was paid as allowances 3 different times. The basic in our letter for tcn is not what you would be paid during this training, its a requirement for your employment letter's format. The guy i sat with on my journey to Abuja yday also works for federal government and said as long as you have been given offer of employment your salary would be paid, and confirmed this opportunity is a very great one for those who are ungrateful. Since your letter says you are on probation, expect a full paid salary which is above 100k. Some dont even know where the skill that you would get from this one year training would take them, we just want official work and salary and no self improvement in skill area, thats why many remain poor after working for a long time especially bank managers, which is why i left the bank to start my engineering passion, this is a great opportunity for the exposure , training and opportunites this would give many. Life is all about your attitude, whether you get oil and gas job or tcn, Labour not to be rich but have a goal of world-wide contribution in mind. There lies your fulfilment. Cheers mate
Well said sir.

i will b very grateful
Sorry I just saw dis. Its much easier to check for someone in ur Geograhical zone than someone outside it cos we were grouped by region. Altho d SS and SE were not far apart tho. But I must applaud d lady in charge of SE who was calling d missing pple. If only d SS people were dat well organised.
Thankfully I've collected my own letter and have left d venue unfortunately.

ESUNAM: If all this messages for appointment letter is true,no how federal government would not publish the names on national news, network news etc. Remember, federal government would not send you message and ask you come to Abuja for your appointment letter while we have regional offices to pickup the appoint. My brothers I like you to discard this appointment letter of a thing and focus on God and be patience.
Lol. You r funny o. Do you mean all of us who travelled to Abuja and met with d CEO of Manitoba Engr Don Priestman and d mgt of TCN are fools or liars or something? Don't sit down in your house and rely on insider info all d time. Network with pple and get to know wat's really happening.
I learnt something recently "Assumption is the mother of all Bleep ups"
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Transmission company of Nigeria (TCN). by Tomoarika(m): 6:42am On Sep 17, 2013
Good morning guys.
D arrangement for SS zone was not up to standard. I got to venue by 7.15am and left around 6pm without collecting letter. Other zones started and concluded for d day before us from d SS. Most of us from SS were told to return 2day due to some errors sha.
Unfortunately d way d names were arranged for SS zone was not even in order ie a couple of pp
le's names
were misspelt, wrong surname, joining of first name and middle name as surname etc and they couldn't view their names initially. It might be a bit difficult to check for someone else cos of these errors but its worth a try. A few pple who didn't get d txt mssgs came to confirm sef. Some were fortunate while some weren't.
Concerning d salary scale, d diference btw Officer 1 and Officer 2 is not much (don't know d exact figures). Note that this is just d basic salary however (dats just wat I think o), other entitlements may/may not be added. It may not seem much for now but I believe it will be worth it. I know wat I'm forsaking for dis.
All in all I wish everyone d best. If u r not called here, ur own opportunity may be around d corner, don't despair. I remember when I didn't get called for Halliburton and I was so down. But God has been faithful. If HE can do it for me then HE most certainly can for you as well.
All the best!
(Sorry for d long post.

Japkelly: @whatever your username is, my fellow and good friend, can't u drop the message alone and skip the numbers, common sense did not tell you that u stooped lower than minimum by acting childishly. For your information, those numbers are official don't you have eye to have observed the identity in various network. Even a blind man's activated senses would know that the numbers were not to be hidden the way you ignorantly did. My friend no be say u go Google English words come drop am for any forum. See ur below lips like "stooping low" no allow me slap my phone before him go nack u. Pls let's watch the way we respond to corrected mistakes. Wish you all good luck.
Thk you. Like I said I won't exchange words. Learn how to talk politely even when upset. Good luck to you too. All d best.

Japkelly: you no be better person. What the need of the info above without completing the number. Guys this is the number 070677778XX, 080577772XX
Hello @Japkelly.
My friend, I won't stoop so low to exchange words with you or any other person.
Did I do wrong by pasting the contents of a mssg I received? Those numbers are obviously people's private mobile numbers and not official telephone numbers. How would you feel if your personal mobile number was broadcast to the whole world for official purposes?
Unfortunately those numbers are not mine (or yours) to give out and d best I could have done is to send it privately if anyone had asked me for it. It's called etiquette my friend.
Once again I wish everyone the best. If God says d job is yours, nothing can take it from you. Remain prayerful as always and never give up.

Mehn dis issue went viral. A copy of dis thread was forwarded to lots of staff and we even had to discuss about d issue in my branch. Sadly those found culpable will have to answer for it. @OP hope this has been settled completely.
Pls no one is perfect, it's just a series of unfortunate events dat happened in dis case. Instead of grumbling in silence, request to see d BOM and lay ur complaint, put it in writing if possible and I'm sure someone will attend to it. Dats a sure way for our services to u our esteemed customers to get better.
UBA is rebranding (yes we acknowledge some of our faults in d past) and hopefully you all will soon see d difference. (Just wish Mgt will do something abt dat awful advert tho).

Opylo: I think they requestd for your permanent address so they might include it in your appointment letter. what do you guys think?
Whilst that may be d case, I think it's better not to jump into conclusions. It's also possible dat they are just updating their records. As far as I'm concerned, this 2nd call means nothing much. Till I get a letter of employment! So let's all keep hoping and praying it works out for us. God dey!

Hello.
I just received my own 2nd call (after several missed calls) from the consultant for SS zone (Moradechi) requesting for my permanent address as well. Then they re-confirmed the details earlier given like my LGA and course of study. Fingers crossed hopefully it won't take another month till the next contact. All the best guys.
RomanceRe: 10 Funny Signs You're An Introvert by Tomoarika(m): 6:26pm On Aug 31, 2013
I agree with all of the listed points except no 3. I tend to be better speaking with individuals than with addressing a group of people. Infact I still suffer from stage fright! Love being online on social networks, read a lot, am a good writer, rarely make calls etc.
I've always known dat I'm an introvert. Funny thing is that my job requires me to be outgoing and it bores me a lot cause it's more abt talking than actually thinking. And yes introverts tend to be more intelligent than extroverts (not always tho)
RomanceRe: 10 Funny Signs You're An Introvert by Tomoarika(m): 6:04pm On Aug 31, 2013
johnbush: guys, you ever notice how extroverts tell you the same gist over and over again plus they act like it's the first time each time? That crap just bores me silly!!!
Yeah. Very annoying I tell you.
