Nacho's father, just like any other father will see the procedure and the packaging of the proposal for his son to know which is best for him.

That is what a lot of Nigerians could not see.

Note I was one of those who wanted Nacho at the Etihad campus and I gave my reasons. Most importantly, he would get a chance to work with Pellegrini.

If you followed news about the Etihad campus, you would have wanted Nacho there too.
dude you are a "citizen" na hu wouldn't want a special talent in their club.
working with pellegrini wouldn't hold a candle to him being brought up in the Porto "culture" for 1 isco Porto would give u 4 iscos.
OK what happens if pellegrini got sacked early since he was a major attraction cuz Porto have shown over the years that training talent in the club transcends the border of their coaches as each new coach doesn't stop the production culture. so if nachos dad have weighed the pros and cons Porto was always the better choice#the only way I would believe it wasn't for the money is if nachos dad doesn't knew the pedigree of porto

Class has a lot to do with it. If Aguero was a Liverpool player and he got injured, whether playing for them or his National team, they will patiently wait for him.

When it happened to Moses, he lost his place with Liverpool.

Pellegrini did not want Kompany to play for his National side because he recovered from a long term injury. Pellegrini was angry with Kompany for disobeying his orders and playing for Belgium.

Yet, Kompany is back in the squad. If a player like Wilfred Ndidi tries it, he will lose his place because his class is not up there.
is moses the 1st player to lose his place? Oscar's trouble started with a knock in a Brazilian training section not even a match last season since then he has been out of sorts and in and out of the team yet Brazil calls him up and he still goes that's patriotism #if he wants to focus on his club oliseh just gave him a perfect time to do that #he will be back soon tho he is being disciplined nothing more
exactly.

The main thing here is the publicity, it is far easier to notice an average player in the EPL than a great player in the Portuguese league.....

Not saying Iheanacho is average, but that publicity he's getting is almost priceless[/quote
yes its a priceless publicity and I leave dat 4 the dad am sure he saw that 1 clearly

Money was considered too no doubt but wasn't the "predominant" issue.......

Look, the whole truth is this: Nacho's Dad wanted his son to learn from some of the very best AND COZ OF PUBLICITY TOO (like u earlier pointed out)...... Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure and more.

Man City completed the most expensive And most "super equipped" football campus in England called "the Etihad campus"..... Costing £200
m
illion...

It's made up of top/world class facilities and Equipments..... Utilised by a team of coaches and professionals comprising some of the best youth coaches in Europe headed by Former La masia/Barcelona football director..... Txiki Begiristain (hope I got his name right).

This "Txiki" guy oversaw a period as Barca's director of football
from 2003-2010 during Barca's GOLDEN YEARS.... Under him... Messi came through La masia successfully.... Same with Pique and Busquets, just to mention a few.

He joined Man City in October 2012 in same capacity as "director of football" at the Etihad.

Do you think it's coincidence that Man City are fast becoming a super power house in Europe?? No way... Begiristain is part of that reason. And he came to the Etihad with a small team of top coaches that worked with him at Barca's La masia.

In Pellegrini, Man City have a top talent groomer.......

So, you see Sir....... Nacho's dad must have taken note of some of these and came to the conclusion that in all MAN CITY IS NACHO'S BEST FIT....

So it wasn't really about the money..... It was MORE about "TRAINING WITH OR LEARNING FROM THE BEST TO BE THE BEST" and of course Money will always follow the best..... **smiles**

my point is that training with the best too was considered but money was predominant. guy reason it now the man city academy deal was one hell of a BIG risk.players like munir and Sandro ramires are too good for the academy already but they are stuck there and its affecting dem already like it did bojan (minor=10 matches goalless, Sandro =12 matches goalless) it affected the progress of tello and Pedro too.see if u are ready for a higher level and u don't get d chance to play it somehow stagnates you and leads to a permanent decline in ability e.g saponara of a.c Milan same would have happened to pogba but he seized his destiny.so Nigerians had that in might as it could easily have happened to him too but finally GODWIN #to me it ain't the father super idea it was just a greedy bad turn good kinda thing

Can you put Aguero and Moses in the same class? Aguero will walk into the starting line up of any squad in the World. Aguero can risk getting injured and still start for Manchester City. It is not the same with Moses.
what has class got to do with patroitism?? with aguero's class he can contest for the golden boot every year but he sacrifices it for the "friendly game" if u can't honour small invites then u're unprofessional and an unprofessional player gat to be disciplined

Do you think Gary Neville does not know better training colleges? Gary Neville registered his son at Man City Etihad campus instead of Man Utd academy.

The Etihad campus has one of the best facility and equipments in the World and they employ the best coaches they can find. It is not just a case of money but the standard of education there.

Nacho wanted to go to Porto because of less competition. Not because of better training opportunity. He believed he would break into the main team of Porto faster than he would as a Citizen.
my guy equipment and facility in a new project can't be trusted like a renowned production line na if it is just by state of the art facility Chelsea youth team players 4rm the 2011 set (josh mceachran and co) should be all over the world now but no a lot of dem now ply their trade in the chsmpionship.
iheanacho to man city was a talented boy to a sophisticated school but a sophisticated school is never enough (ask bojan) u need a lot of 1st team experience to keep improving which was what iheanacho was sure of with Porto but not sure with city that was why he personally opted for porto.the point am trying to pass across is that I will stick to my trusted tekno than go for an innjoo that a friend told me is super cool but I have not really seen in action.
iheanacho's father didn't have a special eye that could see what almost 150 million Nigerians couldn't see my oga he went for the MONEY

I think it was more like a dad wanting his son to go to a better school and im guessing he wanted him to be comfortable with the language.
on paper man city can never be a better football college (training young players) than Porto na.
obviously it was porto 's smaller money jhur

This post is not too different from the earlier one titled 'Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho: 'I wanted to join Porto' but I decided to post it hence, it has some contents that have vindicated Kelechi Iheanacho's Dad, Kelechi's late mum and the overall positive influence which his contract brings to bear on young aspiring footballers back home.

I for one, never welcomed the idea of Nacho choosing Mancity ahead of FC Porto. I also lashed out so hard on Nacho and The Dad, believing the motive behind his Dad's choice of Mancity was influenced greatly by the money which the Club was ready to bringout.

If Nacho had failed to hit the groung running with superb performances after he had joined Mancity, huhh!!! I would have been the first to bash them (Nacho and his Dad).

Now that the deal seems to benefit Nacho and the player's fans, no one seems to praise Nacho's Dad for that piece of advice that changed the last minute decision of Nacho to choose Mancity instead of FC Porto.

Why Man City fans have Kelechi Iheanacho's dad to thank for changing his son's mind

By Anthony Jepson

Manchester City teenager Kelechi Iheanacho was considering a move to Porto before his father convinced him he could be a success at the Etihad.

Manchester City fans have Kelechi Iheanacho's dad to thank after the teenage sensation admitted he almost joined Porto instead of the Blues.

The youngster marked his full City debut with a goal and two assists in a superb display against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

But it might never have been if the player hadn't listened to his father James.
City beat Porto and Sporting Lisbon to Iheanacho's signature in 2013 when they secured him on a pre-contract agreement before sealing his full signing when he turned 18 in October last year.

But Iheanacho, 19, almost opted for Porto - before his dad convinced him he had what it took to be a success at City.

"I was close to signing for FC Porto where I really wanted to go," he said. "City are such a big team with so many fantastic players, I didn’t believe I’d have a future here.
"But my father did and he gave me the confidence I needed. I’m happy I took his advice.

"I’d played a few games at the Under-17 World Cup finals, and that’s when I agreed a deal with City. In all honesty, I didn’t know that much about the club at the time."

Iheanacho has revealed the memory of his late mother and making his family at home in Nigeria proud is driving him on to succeed.

The youngster's mum Mercy passed away in 2013 and Iheanacho said: "My father was a trader and my mum was a teacher, but she was laid to rest a few years ago which was really hard for all of us.

"I have two brothers and a sister back in Nigeria as well. Everything I do, I do for my mum and my family – that’s what drives me.

"My dad is back home and I’m living on my own in Manchester at the moment.

"But I think a lot of kids back home have been encouraged by what’s happened to me and by where I am today. They can’t believe what I’ve achieved at 19 and it gives them belief that they can make it too."

*smiles* Congrats to Croatia, they needed the game more........ We didn't.

We've already done the work in the first 2 matches.

I know the result would have been different had Nigeria needed that game for qualification....... But it's so funny, Many Nigerians started following this team after their 5-1 win over the hosts.

I was kinda uncomfortable with how Nigerians were expecting an outright win against a good croatian side who I felt we would be doing a kinda injustice to if we take them "serious".

Osimhen's goal when the croatians were all over us showed that if Nigeria decided to throw caution out the window and play their "A" GAME, Croatia might be on a plane back home..... But at what cost? Card suspensions, injuries, etc. A pyrrhic victory at best against a "desperate side".

Of course No team goes into a match to lose but you cannot rule out the psychology and mindset of the players which was, "guys, we've qualified ooo... Let's not get unnecessary cards, injuries/cramps, or tire our selves out here. This game no matter how u look at it is inconsequential...... Let's just see off the game we way we can coz we got the knock-out rounds to think about.........."

For crying out loud, Even if that game ended croatia 100-1 Nigeria................. WE'RE STILL TOPS AND NOTHING CAN CHANGE THAT.

Seriously, Many Nigerians really got short memory........ So the team has suddenly become lack lustre..... Na wa o!

I, for one, have always said that this is, in my books, a good "tactically disciplined" team with nothing too spectacular but with a few top talents that can sparkle when the occasion arises...... They are not as flamboyantly talented as the 2013 class but they can still break the "win-in-asia-only-syndrome".............. Why? Because of their impressive "tactical discipline" plus the "killer ablities" of the team's top talents such as the Osimhen, K. Nwakali, Chukwueze, Anumudu, Bamgboye, Osinachi and Agor.

So, cut the boys some slack coz we're all looking ahead already to the next round......... *smiles*

Nigeria, South Korea, France, and Germany are still my top 4 picks for the cup.

Maybe Brazil and Mali can launch strong challenges also...............

**smiles**

good thing we are still top but even if we needed dat game we would still have lost oh if u watched the match it was clear Croatia dominated .
#team Nigeria for the cup tho

Man City is short of strikers with Aguero injured. Nacho's development is also important to the club. They can only release Nacho if they are sure he will play regularly for Siasia's side. If he is not that important to Siasia, then he is better playing with City.

even players on the bench are important to siasia.
if it is not a FIFA tournament then fine they can hold him but if its a FIFA tournament they've got to release him even if he comes off the bench he can make a difference the major tin is that he works for the team.

Sports / Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Tomtoxic: 7:28pm On Oct 23, 2015
man city have no right to demand that he plays almost all matches.it is the decision of the coach to invite players who he needs and also to select the 1st team.if u guys can support this then u should also support the NFF 'big men' who supposedly choose for a coach.
if gent had held Nigeria to ransom about simon moses playing almost every game then Godwin wouldn't have shone.man city stance shouldn't be celebrated by any Nigerian u don't dictate to a country on how to use a player just checkout this ongoing kompany and pellegrini matter #arrant nonsense

the u-23 list is really star studded but I think a 51 man list is too much sia1 should have reduced the number

He is tied to the Club till 2019 by a very big knut. You know what that means now. With a selfish agent, it might take grace for him to leave. It seems to me, his agent is not too concerned about his progress and development, but just about what enters his account. Success would have progressed in the game better else where than Granada.

Atleast Odion Ighalo is a testament to this assertion.
2019?? that's BAD so Granada bought him fully from udinese?
