Politics › How Cluelessness Killed Digital Migration In Nigeria by tonychristopher(op): 1:49pm On Jun 20, 2015 |
From www.itedgenews.com Lack of political willpower and shortage of fund both connived to deny Nigeria the dream of meeting the digital migration deadline of June 17. “The country’s leaders demonstrated no commitment and provided no fund to actualize the target,” the Head of the DigiTeam, Edward Amana, told the global audience that attended the just ended CTO Forum in Abuja. Nigeria plans a new target date of December 2017 but that will only be feasible if the new national government now led by the former opposition party commits funding and willpower to the process. Not only Nigeria failed to meet the June 17 switchover date set by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for member countries to migrate from analogue to digital broadcasting. Virtually all of Nigeria’s neighbours within the ECOWAS also failed to meet the deadline which has provided a somewhat soft landing for Africa’s biggest economy to work towards the 2017 new date. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) which is responsible for country’s switch programme said the inability of Nigeria’s neighbours to meet the deadline has provided some sort of grace. The NBC notes on its website: “In the digital broadcast environment, digital transmitters are protected from interference from signals coming from analogue transmitters. Therefore the main consequence is that if our analogue transmitters should interfere with the signals of any digital broadcast in any of our neighbouring countries, we can be forced by the ITU to shut down our own analogue transmitters. If, however, a digital transmission from any of our neighbours should interfere with any analogue broadcast in Nigeria, we do not get any protection. However, the chances of any of that happening are very slim since none of our neighbours is likely to meet the date.” WWW.ITEDGENEWS.COM |

pazienza: Yes, freedom from negative energies of envious Nigerian groups with their PHD and crab mentality.
Having a real nation built around common Ideologies and goals by a people United by a common native language, culture and ancestry. A real nation, not a geographical expression. This is the first time you made sense in ages I must confess Keep it up |

jemype: recently been hearing about moves to bring biafra to full limelight. the only problem I am having is that all the reasons that are being brought forward for the emancipation of biafra are culturally related or as regards issue of the east being marginalised. for the average igbo what is the real gain if biafra actually sees the light as I seem to be thinking stereotypically. pls avoid cultural bashing and just speak for yourself what you think. Maybe ask your father hope he isn't suffering amnesia like you Bye |

Amusaopeyemi: Prof. Wole Soyinka has lost the race to be Oxford’s Professor of poetry to British poet, Simon Armitage.
Armitage, a popular poet and broadcaster, secured 1,221 votes – 301 more than his closest rival, Wole Soyinka.
Armitage was backed by 58 names, including John Carey and Melvyn Bragg. Bragg had previously supported Soyinka, but later publicly switched his allegiance to Armitage, saying the 80-year-old might not “bother to come to Oxford” if he were to win.
He said Soyinka, a US-based Nigerian who turns 81 next month, “has not written much poetry recently and I now wonder how often he would bother to come to Oxford. Soyinka is a grand man and would regard it as a grand post. I also query his age.”
Soyinka had hit back, saying: “How curious that anyone would even speculate that I would allow busy and committed people – friends, colleagues and total strangers – to waste their time nominating and campaigning on my behalf for such a prestigious position if I were not serious about contesting.”
Soyinka initially led the way with the most nominations in the early stage of the election. Candidates need to be nominated by at least 50 Oxford graduates and Soyinka had more than 90 nods.
Armitage will be expected to deliver one public lecture per term, facilitating the “art of poetry in the university” with a salary of £12,000 a year.

5minsmadness: A friend of mine is having issues. His mother in law came to spend some time with them and help take care of the kids while wifey is off to work. Wifey works shifts and is currently on night shift.
Recently he has noticed mother in law has become overly friendly and has over stepped her boundries on more than one occasion e.g wanting to eat from his plate when she has her own food, has walked in on him twice now in the bathroom and on both occasions has retreated with heavy laughter and claiming it was a mistake.
My friend is getting very uncomfortable but doesn't know if to approach his wife about it or is overreacting. Mama has two more weeks to stay. Should he tell his wife or let things be? Then fucck her ....there is different between ikpu and otu .. The mum in law is ikpu and its defined while otu is the wife own Ask any igbo for clarification and embark on this project Ogba nne na Nwa |
