As i write, i am thanking my God almighty for sparing my life by just a stroke of luck. It all started like every other Sunday and I got ready for service particularly today being the first day of the month. Had a great service and on my way home I had a life threatening experience when I boarded a commercial bus from Kd south going to kawo. I gave the conductor 200 naira and he shouted at me claiming he hasn't change ba- change before I knew it they were speaking in Hausa saying I am Gej bro unknown to them I understood them. They gathered and started shoving me around. Next I felt a bang on my head I got scared, threw my bible and belonging running towards military check point at kawo by fly over and I was safe. I thank God they didn't open fire at me coz the crowd went rampant trying to accuse me of various allegation. This makes me wonder what our country is turning into that I can't dress in Niger delta outfit again simply because of politics. May God have mercy on the already dividing contraption call Nigeria.

Maj Gen Muhammadu Buhari has dropped the bombshell, on the reason he has been losing election in Igboland and parts of Nigeria where Igbos are residing, stating that it is because he was involved in the Nigerian civil war.

The former dictator speaking today on BBC Hausa services monitored in kaduna, said with regrets that, "the igbos hate him for what happened during the Biafran war". "I don't have any regret, and at such do not owe any apology to them, infact if there is a repeat of the civil war again, I will kill more Igbos to save the country".

The APC presidential candidate, added that this was the reason they never bothered to vote for him anywhere in Nigeria.

my name is gozie, i am female and i am from Anambra state. I have been in Lagos almost all my life; schooled in lagos, served in lagos and currently working in Lagos.
meeting a decent igbo guy in Lagos has been a herculean's task since my university days, i have mostly had guys from other tribes flock around me and i am really not looking to settle down with a non-igbo guy(and please it has nothing to do with being tribalistic because the ratio of my non-igbo friends to the igbo ones is like 80:20).
so i would really like to know why it is difficult, cos i know Lagos is more populated with igbo people. so is it my location? or maybe i don't go out often? or maybe it is not the right time?

When I applied for the grant,do you know the man was slow to give me a letter of support,I had to chase him down and when he did it was just some generic letter that was so lightweight but my proposal was competitive and God was on my side I got the grant
Till this day,the man never said a word on that even when the congratulatory mail was copied to him .

My job is such that you get promoted by shining,that is the rule set for promotions etched in stone
He needs to shine in the eyes of his own superior also to get his promotions and raises just like I do
Infact you get annual or merit raises by shining so you have to shine to get kobo added to your salary
For instance my mentor advised me to do one paper and one abstract a year,in that one year I did 4 papers plus 4 abstracts and a grant.
That is a record in my department according to my mentor and [size=18pt]all the praises belong to God[/size]
My boss has never had a grant,by God's grace I got one my first year in the place and that is a big deal professionally


There is a limit to what he can do sha
If he sits on a promotion out of jealousy and I disagree with the decision,the decision will be made by people above him and the achievements will speak for themselves
I cannot make myself a mediocre because I don't want to outshine him

To make a long story short
My boss and I are going to be at a meeting tomorrow to resolve a deep seated conflict.
It is a difficult place to be in
He has only been my boss for a year plus and from day one we didn't get along
Right from when I got offered my position and salary
He retorted angrily over the phone when I asked that the salary be adjusted upwards because I wouldn't accept a much lower salary than where I was coming from.He refused to listen and I had to contact someone else and eventually had some money added to that salary.
I guess he hated my guts after that and that was before he even met me.
Then a second incidence that sealed his dislike of me after I arrived to take up the job stemmed mainly from a rumor that I encouraged a fellow nigerian to apply and interview for his position when it was an interim position for him.
To cut a long story short,the Nigerian guy though clearly better qualified and accomplished didn't get the position and this boss and those supporting him are using subtle ways to express their wrath towards me and so far I have maintained my cool.
My impression is that he is not comfortable having a black woman and an intelligent one as a colleague
It had gotten to an extent where I needed to speak up and I did.
My evidence is well documented with dates and email and there is no denying it.

Here comes my dilemma

We will be together to resolve this but can you imagine being at a conflict resolution with your own boss?the man that is supposed to evaluate you and have your back?
We haven't even said hello to each other since this year,he avoids eye contacts and scampers off
That's how bad it is

I need words of wisdom how to approach this without being confrontational.i cannot afford to be confrontational.

I had a wonderful relationship with my former boss for almost a decade and I still have the notes and email he sent me for being a team player.we still collaborate on studies till this day.

I have gotten words of wisdom from hubby and friends

Why can't Igbos vote for Chekwas Okorie? Ojukwu contested in 2003 and 2007, he got about 1million votes and was roundly defeated in Igboland. Uzor Kalu contested in 2007 tooand was wt less than 1m votes. Obj was preferred by the Ibos in 1999 and 2003(even against their "hero" Ojukwu). Musa Yaradua was preferred too and Atiku came second in 2007 over Igbo "hero" Ojukwu and Uzor Kalu. Ijaw Goodluck Ebelemi Jonathan and Fulani Buhari are preferred over Chekwas Okorie. Fact is, the Igbo nation is confused politically. They always support incumbents and will sing Buhari song when he is elected. For Igbos to achieve the Presidency, they need to be strategic.
