Wow! Interesting... I didn't know anything about the Bantus coming from Nigeria.

I learned that they came from Congo.

So do the Tiv, Ekoi, Efik, and Ibibio identify as Bantus?

Yeah, there are old historical threads on Nairaland that discussed this extensively back in 2010-2012. It is not actually Congo but actually Cameroun/Nigeria axis. The Bantus may have been the remnants of the Wet Sahara civilization that spread out into West and Central African areas over 5000 years ago. The only reason Congo might be relevant is because the first wave of migrants stayed in Congo before a second group emerged and travelled downwards.

There are still some Proto-Bantu groups in Nigeria. Tiv, Ekoi, Efik and Ibibio have varying levels of Bantu. And the Igbos have still have a small level of Bantu admixture.

West Africans have different migration patterns. Ancient West Africa was called ‘Sudan’. And there were some that expanded from the Mauretania and North West Africa area, after the empire built there collapsed due to flooding. They later built the Ghana empire and kept expanding. And rest migrated in different migration waves - from the present day Sudan/Ethiopia axis.

I believe there was also an indigenous gnome group in West Africa prior to the arrival of these new groups. But archaeologists are still trying to determine what happened to them.

The indigenous group would be the NOK culture. Am I correct on this?

It’s not Central Africa.

Bantus migrated from the Eastern Nigerian and Western Cameroon axis - to other parts of Africa.

They were pushed out by the expansion and migration of the ethnic groups that occupy West Africa today.

Below is the Bantu expansion map

I often wondered why Nigeria is the most ethnically diverse country with, over 300 tribes, in Africa. This map gives us a clue.

From Central Africa, Congo to be specific.
. Not just Congo, but further Northwest of Congo, where the Nigerian/Camerounian border exists.

I'm not gonna lie, I don't know anything about the Hottentus, I'm hearing about it for the first time.

As for the Bantu people, what I know is that all black South Africans apart from the Khoisan are Bantu people.

It's not a tribe, but an ethnic group of people mainly from southern and East Africa... I'm also a Bantu person.. Our languages can be similar here and there.

For example, in Swahili when they say no problem, they say "hakuna matata" but in my language which is Sepedi we'd say " a gona mathata"

We don't have Swahili in SA or in our neighbouring countries, but because we're Bantus, our cultures and languages can be similar.

I thought the Khoikhoi were the Khoisan, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

All Bantu peoples originated from West-Central Africa. They travelled southwards in several waves until they reached the Southern tip of Africa.

Nobody is disputing that fact based on tribes but Nigeria as a whole was not there before 1914. Ghana have always been there from time

The Ghana empire used to be further north of the current Ghananian state. Geographically speaking, the current Ghana is far from where the ancient empire used to be.

Lol, don't be ridiculous, how can Nigerian culture be older than Ghana when historically Ghana is as old as Egypt, Nigeria came into being in 1914. Ghana was already an empire way back the 10th century

Of a truth, all migrations to Western Africa came from the direction of the Central/Eastern Africa. Because of this Nigeria has the most diverse cultures and the largest spectrum of languages, perhaps in Africa. In order words, the myriad of Nigerian cultures should be generally older than any culture further West of Africa

Foreign Affairs / Re: Russia Buys Gold As Sanctions Bite by TonySpike: 6:49am On Feb 25, 2023
bookface:

Putting money in a mattress is never a wise strategy - everyone knows that. The question is what else do you do with it? On the other hand if you put your money in any US savings account that pays as much as 6% per year will have generated a capital gains that is at least 34% higher than what you could have got with gold

The idea that gold is a "wealth preserver" is a naive at best. If no one is willing to pay you as much as you bought your original bar of gold for, you would have lost money in real terms. Gold is pure speculative - in order words, similar to gambling. I just pointed out to you that someone who bought gold at the beginning of last year would have lost close to 30% of their wealth. Is that how you "preserve" wealth?

No, we are not talking about the same things. I mentioned the currency effects because both options are not strictly comparable.

Inflation affects the prices of everything. Gold will be worth much more during a war than before a war - but then so also is toothpaste or cattle or even condoms. If you live in the US and you buy gold for $36 before a war - if during a war, the prices rise to $200 your wealth has not really been protected since if you sell your gold, to buy toothpaste, the price of toothpaste that was $5 before the war is now $27

First you cite the case of Qaddaffi - without much information that can be freely validated

Second, there are not many antecedents that supports your theory. The US has the largest reserve of gold in the world - yet it does not fund its wars by selling gold. It pays the good ol' dollars.

Third, gold is not a currency - how many cars/shoes is an ounce of gold worth? No one knows. Because the value of gold cannot truly be objectively determined. It's value is perceived based on demand and supply.

Who is this guy? Your knowledge of economics is simply amazing. Reading it after 8 years simply makes a whole lot of sense.

While the continent of Africa is enjoying the absence of earthquakes, this enjoyment will not be for long, when it strikes here, it will be of cataclysmic proportions as hardly any buildings are built to withstand quakes so thet will be greatly compromised.

Africa has a very stable continental shelf because every other continent 'broke away' and drifted from Africa thousands of years ago. The farther these continents/land masses are from Africa, the higher the risks of volcanos, earthquakes, tsunamis and other geological malfunction.

What does Sudan need weapons for. To fight South Sudan ?

Why does Russia need a base beside the red sea or even in Africa for that matter. Looting 2.0 of Sudan is about to begin. Africa would never be independent because of extremely low IQ that's spread over the continent.

More stealing of African gold reserve like Russia is doing in Mali, Burkina-Faso and DRC.

NATO is not going to join the war. War between NATO and Russia will break the alliance. Hungary and Croatia have made it clear that they will never participate in the war. Austria too is not sending weapon to Ukraine. Turkey will never join the war against Russia. More and more members will join those three as the war escalates. Individually none of them can challenge Russia. Not German, Not UK, Not Italy, Not France.

Poland seems ready for war with Russia. It looks like she has over committed itself to this war and I thought she was anxious to join the fight. But I was shocked when S-300 missile fell into it territory and the Polish leader (including the US president-Joe Biden) tried to water the event down instead of threatening to retaliate. That was an opportunity for them to join the war. But they chicken out. It only their media that were talking about retaliation.

The truth is that nobody wants WW3 to be triggered by a flimsy excuse such as a S-300 missile. This is why they (NATO) kept that Poland missile issue under wraps. For WW3 to happen, it must be triggered by an event so thought-provoking enough to warrant aggressive warfare. If you check the history well, WW1 started due to an assassination that was overblown. WW2 started as a continuation of WW1, wherein Hitler wanted to retaliate.
Foreign Affairs / Re: prophetic progression of Ukraine war by TonySpike: 9:54am On Feb 04, 2023
As far as I am concerned, the current war is a precursor of what is to come. I don't know what it is but it is certainly laying the grounds for a massive global conflict. Truly, innocent lives have been lost because of a piece of estate that Russia wants. In the real sense, the enemy is the one indirectly enabling wars, famines and strife to prove to God that creating man was a mistake. The enemy hates God's creations with passion and these kind of things will continue as long as we are in this side of eternity, well, until the final end of time.

Didn't they know this all along?... why now? Don't you think the Americans are after control of the gas too?... to control the gas flow to Europe? After all.... this is nothing new to the Americans... wage war to get a foothold in the countries to control their natural resources. What happens now in Iraq... who controls thier oil and gas? What happens now in Libya?... who controls their oil and gas? ... what happened to the promise of rebuilding thise countries? ... don't you think it's the same strategy now applied to Ukraine?... for their gas?..... the reason the US is spending billions to back Ukraine? .... could this be the reason why they are not genuinely seeking peace?... and Russia knows their true aim ?....that the war is about control of the gas reserves? You brought it up.

The current Ukrainian war was set in motion by the Russians as far back as 2009. The gas reserves is part of Russia's mission. But the main issues involving Donbass and Luhansk was planned and carefully crafted by FSB operatives. They paid some separatists to start campaigning for independence, then brought in ex-Russian forces to forment more trouble during and after the 2014 maiden issues. The whole scenario is purely a land grab war with a false excuse of NATO invasion and nazism. Unfortunately, this war will lead to the massive development of other green sources of energy, other than oil and gas. This is already a loss to Russia's European market.

This war is about Russia not wanting Ukraine to join NATO because the US/NATO will put missiles in Ukraine like it did to Poland and other ATO members. Russia doesn't want to be surrounded by NATO and if one member of NATO is attacked then all members join in to defend. Ukraine is not even a member of NATO .... but we see NATO has joined sending tanks and missiles and military equipment as if NATO is a member ... escalating the war and never looking for peace. This was the aim of the US/NATO ... find an opportunity to wage war with Russia. Nothing is wrong with NATO arming and supporting Ukraine ... what if China supports Russia?

Wrong...this is the cause of the war. Russia wants to steal resources from Ukraine.

Why do you guys believe a lie. The invasion is a failure. Look at Soledar and Bakhmut. Up to ten months and they are still struggling.

More importantly, how does Russia win the war?. Keep 500,000 people in trenches trying to steal 1/4 of Ukraine. Even the most childish or lowest IQ of all observers think don't think Russia can keep this up to 6 months.
Putin himself knows it is not winnable.
Wecbloody civilians thinks keeping 500k troops supplied, fed and warmed in a country of hateful enemies is easy. But that's why we are bloody civilians.

Most people who think Russia wins are very young. They see it as a soccer match and Russia is higher in the ratings, alas it is not. The war was lost to Russia in the first three days. They should have conquered Kyiv.
Having a sovereign government active in Kiev with its international alliances and the sinister nature and unbending will of Ukrainian people already marks this as a failure for Putin.

In a way, I don't blame Russia. If it were a more democratic country, they won't have made the mistake. They cannot win this.
Any indication that Ukraine would lose only prolongs the war. There would never ever be an Ukrainian surrender so it is just 5 mire years of Russians being killed every week in places they occupied until someone puts a bullet in the head of the idiot in the Kremlin.

The last and only chance they have is the new invasion they are planning from Belarus and Westen Russia. Unfortunately, everyone is ready for it and Belarusians will overthrow their government or succumb to the civil war I think CIA has set up there already.

That planned invasion might bring in Poland into the war and may result in a nuclear war eventually.

WORLD RESET.

A person more deadly than Putin will take over.

Nobody wins if the war becomes nuclear. Both USA and Russia will be utterly devastated. A third and neutral force will likely emerge as a consequence of the devastating war.
