There have been tensions in the last 48 hours as to who is the winner of the Akwa Ibom northwest senatorial district elections. From a reliable source Elections have been cancelled in two Local government, Essien Udim and Obot Akara LGA of Akwa ibom state. The two LGAs are among the ten LGAs which will decide the faith of Senator Godswill Akpabio and Obong Chris Ekpeyong. Eight of the local government have already been decided with Chris Ekpeyong clinching seven and consoling Akpabio with only one. A date is yet to be fixed for a rerun.

Five councillors in Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom State have been suspended from the PDP for anti party activities. The councillors were said to have received cash bribe from the opposition party APC to work against the PDP in the forthcoming elections. The Councillors include those representing Odoro Ikot 1, Odoro Ikot 2, Ukana West 1, Ukana West 2, Afaha and Ikpe
Annang ward. They have also been sacked from the local government council and they seize to represent their respective wards.
