Ekiti 2022: Oni's participation will reduce voters apathy come 18th June ~ YCA

A socio political group in Ekiti State, Youths for Credible Alternative (YCA) has expressed optimism that the participation of the former Governor of Ekiti State Asiwaju Segun Oni in the forthcoming Governorship election in Ekiti State will reduce voters apathy in the election.

The spokesperson of the group Mr Tope Adewumi said it is not too good that in past elections in Ekiti State, the total number of vote cast is usually less than 600,000 in a state with over one million registered voters.

Mr Tope said during the 2014 and 2018 Governorship election, voters in Ekiti do not have credible alternative from which they can pick from thereby leading to voters apathy. He said with the participation of Asiwaju Segun Oni, men and women, young and old will troop out to vote for their preferred choice of candidate as the achievements of Asiwaju Segun Oni will speak for him during the poll.

Recall that on Saturday 5th February, 2022, the former Governor had declared his intention to run for the Governorship seat on the platform of a political party that will be made known on Tuesday 8th February, 2022.

That reconstituted team played in AFCON '94 and got to the final, they played against Nigeria and Super Eagles narrowly got a 2-1 win over the new Zambia team.

In the news yesterday, we heard that the head coach and 12 players from the Tunisia National team had tested positive to COVID-19, a lot of people will see that as a work over for the Super Eagles.
