Very funny

I don't even know what to say to you, how logical does it sound to you personally to drive around with a permit from driving schoolhuh

You have to wait for your capturing to obtain your temporary before you can start driving legally.

Don't tell me you are already driving on any platform yet, if you are, how did you pass through registration without Temporary DL
I drove over a year with the driving school cert. I was stopped by FRSC and VIO countless times and there never issue . Anyways. Na naija we dey .. anything can happen.

Note...I was driving personally not on any platform

Sorry ma/sir

But why is the "clamping down" not on Uber and Bolt? Why is it the car owner?

In other countries that Uber was booted out, it was actually Uber that the government tackled, not the driver. Uber accreditates the driver, verifies him. Uber should be in charge of the license, not the driver.

My opinion
If there will be any clampdown .. that's the right way to go about it but we all know Nigeria is a useless country ... Nigeria only know how to frustrate the hardworking people. Instead of govt to tackle it out with Uber as an organization in court they would rather frustrate the drivers

I wish we would really understand how Nigeria really works ...

Nigeria is a lawless country where anyone in uniform can choose to do anything and nothing will happen except the victim has a personal connect.

All these, there is no law, no policy, vio, lastma, frsc has not right to do this and that can only work in a sane environment ... Nigeria is far from that.

I have personally witnessed where a man stop for traffic light and while waiting for the light to turn green, just checked his phone note he wasn't even making call...was just checking his phone and was arrested by FRSC for using his phone while driving. Is that normal?

If any rogue vio, lastma or whatever catches any driver and impound the car for being Uber. If the Uber driver doesn't have a personal connect that can help him....at the point he's helpless. .being stubborn and trying to prove your right cannot help u... that's Nigeria.

Leave what ought to be and let's face what we have

It's not the job of police to check your papers but they still do it anyways.. If u don't have a strong backup. .u wouldn't even dear to tell a police man why are u asking for my papers ..is it your job?

When Nigerians are pushed to the wall.... Nigerians don't fight back but rather break the wall and hide in it .

That's why Nigeria is like this . The masses can hardly have one voice on any issue ...no unity whatsoever. Govt knows this and are taking us for a ride .

I am still wondering how they will identify uber cars,
Meanwhile I just got a tip from a source

Pls don't park in groups while waiting for request I hear that is one of the ways they want to use in getting us.

Parking and waiting for request is their way of getting us, and its the local gov. Tout they are using for this evil act

Park and shine your eyes.
Funny

*A guy his 20s or 30s driving Corolla or Camry

* Phone hanger in Corolla or Camry

* A young guy parked, sit in his car, relax chair and pressing is phone

These are many more sigh of an Uber guy

Boss this is not the first time drivers r going online, I only do 4 days in a week, if we all do 4 days and pretend our break is for protest, our voice will b heard, they is something called awareness, tell a driver to tell a driver dat on the 20th of February drivers will b on strike, a week or 2 awareness will obviously leave a sound that's worth paying attention too.

About all drivers no going on strike, in the midst of 10 they will always be 2/3 ITK's, worry less about them and focus on your cause. I have always said this and I'll say it again, the only way VIO can get at anyone is to change plate number to red, its not only VIO that will extort you, we have become victim of agbero and different tickets. This is an executive platform where everything can b done online and let one have peace of mind, but no, dose old men that r dew to retire, but keep updating dia date of birth won't let one rest.

My mind flash back to the keke jubilation, I hope d surge is worth the ban and we r making figures not made before? Or the tricycles rider's should come to protest for uber now? Some things r really needless in life, u only know that which you know, but wots in front of you, remains a mystery.
U are probably right...I agree with u ..

Once the plate number is change to red....Uber is subjected to OWO MI DA , DAILY TICKET AND ALL

Boss take it easy, I've been following this trend and trying to refrain myself from spamming with information I'm not crystal clear about, I know very well that they will come for drivers, but after reading this, I'm yet to see a chellange that can't be conquered, our only problem is we,ve been beaten to admit anything that is thrown at us, what r u really scared off? If you read the information very well, they ask Uber to pay operations licence, which they have too and about d other permit, its not a big deal, they can ask uber to include it as pass to gain access online, all it takes is dialogue. The moment private can changes to commercial, then you are open to all sought of extortion, local government will come up with there own, same fate that befalls Opay bike will befall drivers. At this point it is advisable for all drivers to go offline, let kick the revolution, all it take is just a start.

Report any case of impoundment again and it shall not b taken easily. I see no point going to uber office, they r too proud to attend to drivers, go offline completely and let's see if they won't b stop to this madness before it blew out of control.
Well said. The first step going forward is for us all to accept there is an issue and best way to tackle it

In as much everyone going offline would be the most effective way. In my opinion, I don't think that's achievable.

1. all drivers in Nigeria are not on this thread and there is no association and no means of communication to every driver, so how do we communicate to all
2. Even if we communicate to all drivers. In reality certain percentage of driver will go online and work to enjoy surge that will follow the protest.

Once some drivers are working the protest becomes ineffective

How is anyone being harrassed at the airport because he drives on uber....the same law that applies to uber applies to private car owners who come to the airport even to Airport staffs with little preference...Tell me how anyone will know who is an uber driver at the airport if you respect yourself....some uber drivers turn themselves to cabu cabu picking up people at every bus stops...is that uber...huh...airports anywhere in the world have rules and regulations...designated parks which is meant for everyone....why are there no bikes or danfo at the airport even before the ban but is uber stopped from coming to the airport? Abide by the rules that is for everyone and you will be fine...being an uber driver doesn't make you a marlian...and there are no laws specially made to punish uber drivers...none....maybe they charge you more though...but you wont be harrassed just because u are an uber driver...
It says "strictly drop off"....dont spend more than 5 minutes...but then you are trying to collect your money from rider who wants to make transfer and you caught....then you say am uber.....Listen....Uber doesn't pay the airport managements... so they have no reason to treat you differently...that doesn't mean they harassing you....cos u an uber driver....

The country is lawless...yes...but being scared and acting cowardly wont make things better...atleast know your rights and defend it....If it doesn't work.....then beg....lol..
It's like u haven't fallen victim....come to abuja airport and pick up na tell them u are an Uber driver and u got a request. ... If u haven't seen don't say it's not happening...it's not about drop off ...it's not waiting time..

Don't talk about is Uber paying airport?

Abeg is airport privately owned ...no be govt ..has Uber not paid govt? Or the Uber drivers ain't paying gate fee or airport is not part of the states.

In Abuja airport is 3300-3800 I don't know care where the pick up is. Drivers these days have refused to go to airport unless the riders pays 4500-5000. Depending on the drivers or rider Sha

I'm talking about issues that is on radio and that I have seen....even riders are aware of it. ..

For sometime Uber spoke with them and they sropped. These days, they have started again. Now u will see Uber drivers parked very far close to exist, once they get a request, they will beg rider to walk to where they are.

Apart from that AMAC guys are there disturbing Uber drivers in Abuja town requesting Uber and collecting their car. If u check my previous post I said Uber does not have issue with VIO but if nothing is done, they will soon start.

Is u have data watch this video

This issue of permit

Like I said earlier it's more about those rogue govt official wey dey do anyhow.

Those rogue guys know that if dem misbehave nobody to caution them. Na the main problem be that ...shey Uber don't have license to operate at airports? Why can't drivers pick up rider freely at the airport? Drivers are been harassed and nothing is been done about it

Did govt at the top asked Sars to arrest people carrying laptop ?

What right does any police man has to search my phone without a warrant?

Sorowe that wasn't released after court granted him bail...where was the law?

Yes we all know vio or frsc does not have any right to ask for any harkney permit or whatever

If person meet them tomorrow and they ask for it ....what will person do ? Who is going to fight for one?

Those are the real concerns of drivers

I would have replied your guys that quoted me ignorantly up there...but the essence of this group is not about throwing banters...

I drive and have encountered vio several times and had no case of impoundment....

I only addressed the information and never judged or said anyone is wrong or right or said going to vio office if Ur car is impounded means you are chasing clout.

Uber registered in Nigeria as a Tech company with focus on solving transportation issues...Uber operates in Abuja and not just Lagos..and we have vio over there as well...so y the apprehension in Lagos.

If you know any one whose car was impounded let them come out here and tell us how the conversation played out..

The ban on okada in Lagos is beyond what you are seeing....it's preparation for 2023, I won't say more than that.

If u quote me ignorantly, my reply henceforth might not be friendly....
In Abuja ..u don't have problem with vio or frsc once your papers are complete.. but u see those AMAC touts .... they are pain in the ass

I have witnessed a scenerio where an Uber guy just parked and they went to remove his plate number said he's doing illegal taxi work in Abuja.

I Abuja...if u get request from any. AMAC plaza....don't go ooo...your car will be impounded ..... Painful thing...no one cares about u

I really don't think that is attainable...Uber and Bolt have the operators license to carry out business in the state and that is conferred on their partners ..the highest that can happen is asking them to leave.

And u guys need to stop all these clout you are building because very soon the government will leverage on those unlost things u people are seeking...wetin the person go find for vio office wey bring about such irrelevant discussion
Yes Uber and bolt has operating license....it's not about Uber now. .it's more about drivers and most importantly those govt task force charged to enforce the law....most go out of their line of duties and be frustrating drivers

Speaking about okadaban....some task force went to aboru iyana ipaja yesterday to go park bikes park within the compound ( bikes that were not working).. shey govt send them that one?.....

I'm sure govt didn't send any vio to ask Uber drivers for shit...but out of greed most of the official will ask what they know u won't have and impound your vehicle and they know no one will fight for u

You just further fostered his rude attitude by sending him that message, he was supposed to message u for insulting u & apologize, not u messaging him again. Make I share my little experience today.

I drive in Abuja.

Got a request. ..call came in...sweet voice.

Rider: I'm in jabi park where they enter ado ekiti bus.
Me : ok on my way.

Few minutes later

Rider : do u speak Yoruba
Me : yes
Rider : I will call u back soon, pretend to be my dad and tell the garage guys that I'm not going again today ..please be strict on the phone
Me : hmmmm... Ok ..

A minute later someone called me from the garage

Unknown person: ( speaking Yoruba now) are u the one that just dropped her off at the park and paid for the fare?

Me: yes. She's not going today again, forget the money ..let her leave there ( in harsh tone)

Unknown person: we cannot allow her to go until u have come in person to pick her up cos we have a similar case in the police station.

Unknown person narrating now: ...he said ..last week, a father dropped her daughter in the garage and paid for the fair, after the father left the daughter claimed she wasn't going again and left ... following day the father came claiming his daughter is no where to be found both at the destination and at home, the father then claimed they kidnapped the girl cos the girl is still missing.

Me : at this point ...I couldn't say a word..

I just kukuma cancel trip before they will say I be kidnapper.

Things dey happen.

My thought.

Maybe the girl want to go for dic.k baptism and didn't know how to leave home cos if she was truly going back home why didn't she call her father.

Let me share my own experience on stopovers.

I drive in Abuja...

I got a request from transcop to national assembly ( short trip) it was card trip....we got there. As I stopped I ended the trip.. rider asked me why I ended the trip...explained we have gotten to destination. He was like we would have updated it. Requested again and it came to me. We continued. After like 3 stops. I gently explained to rider that the stops overs would not pay me for the day cos I need cash urgently that day. He wanted to change face I didn't bother. ..I only explained to him that though the money would still come to me following week but would affect my target for that day...he just laughed and said I like money. ..we laughed over it.. we ended the trip and continues with offline...I was with him for like 6hrs and he paid me well for the offline... according to him ..he did that cos I gently explained to him I needed cash ( physical cash) on that day.

For me it on depends on scenerio, manner of approach from driver and how the rider responds.

In any way. We drivers should not be rude to all riders because of one bad experience.

LET ME SHARE ANOTHER BAD EXPERIENCE.

when I was a newbie in the hustle. I got a request in wuse market ( for those that drive in Abuja) ..I was stuck in traffic. Rider started yelling on the phone. I was just explaining I was in traffic. As I tried to find my way out of the traffic..I was arrested by police cos I made a wrong turn...bribed them with 3k ..he was just calling me....I finally got to wuse market...parked in front...as rider entered...naso touts follow enter....we started begging....within five minutes my rider just abandoned me and said it's my problem not his....I was shocked. ..I had to withdraw from my account to bribe touts ...

My conclusion...there are bad riders and good one...there are ones that will understand and stupid ones....

As driver ..we should not be quick to be rude to riders even if they are stupid....we can still politely dish them
