Sports / Re: Match Of The Week: BBC Removed England Football Star Presenter, Gary Lineker by TortugaPrince: 6:38am On Mar 11, 2023 |
In as much as I respect Gary Lineker's stance on this issue, I would like to see him proffer an alternative solution to what the government is proposing. It is very easy to be an armchair critic and not come up with a workable alternative. Talk is cheap. But seriously, who watches "match of the day" because of lineker or the pundits. I personally watch because of the football highlights of the day. To me it's just like watching bbc or ITV news. I don't watch because of the presenters, I just want the news to keep abreast of what's going on. Half of the time the pundits are talking nonsense and giving their own opinions and interpretation of the matches of the day which most times differ from the way I see it anyway. Lineker does the least on that programme yet he earns a lot more than the others like Ian Wright or Jenas and Shearer. Got too big for his breeches. |

Maximum respect to Gary Lineker if he can stand up for what he believes in and take the consequences like Andrew Marr did when he left the BBC due to freedom of speech issues. I do feel sorry for the black ones in solidarity with him though. People like Ian Wright, Micah Richards, Jermaine Jenas and Alex Scott. White boy Lineker will always get another job but they will struggle. |

Education / Re: 24-Year-Old Damilola Arowolaju Bags PhD In Law In USA University by TortugaPrince: 11:17am On May 25, 2020 |
This is so misleading. This young man did not bag a Phd in law but a juris doctor degree. That is just the american equivalent of a first degree in law going by british and nigerian contexts. It is not a Phd like when one bags a Bsc, Msc and then Phd. The Juris Doctor degree (J.D. or JD), also known as the Doctor of Jurisprudence degree (J.D., JD, D.Jur. or DJur), is a graduate-entry professional degree in law. The young man's father is either ignorant or just delibrately wants to mislead people. I'm shocked that this was reported by the tibune a nigerian newspaper of repute. This is what you expect of bloggers. Sad. 1 Like |

These okada boys don't even know the meaning of fake news, the only fake they know are the arsenal and barcelona jerseys they buy at oshodi. 13 Likes |

[quote author=NwaNimo1 post=40606675]Rubbish Uni - I thought I would see Oxford or Cambridge! So because it wasn't bagged at Oxford or Cambridge diminishes the quality of the qualification? Get real please. These university rankings don't matter when you study certain courses. Someone with a degree in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, physiotherapy even nursing from that university will still do well career wise anywhere in the world. Never mind her that even had a distinction in postgraduate law. Don't be surprised if the woman has a job lined up already in whichever of the Northern states she's from. They probably sponsored her anyway, so you sit there sipping your alomo and denigrate someone's achievement that should be applauded. 2 Likes |

Dindondin: You know what, at first I had the same thoughts as you. I was thinking that the mods on this site were slacking for letting this puerile imp spew such bigoted thrash against Nigerians on a Nigerian website and it also made front page for that matter. However thinking deeper I wouldn't ban this character or remove their posting because it serves as a lesson to Nigerians especially those Igbo and Yoruba tribal war mongers. They now have a common enemy so maybe they will now realise that they are all Nigerians and should stop the unnecessary tribal bigotry that pervades Nairaland sometimes. Or is it only a Nigerian that can be bigoted to another Nigerian. Mods please don't ban this person but keep this on the front page every day for ever as a sound reminder to the Igbo and Yoruba warlords. He He He He He. I'm loving it. 3 Likes 1 Share |

MrKontrovErsy: Where did you see the name of the so called "yorrobber" man involved? In your haste to start a tribal war or the fact that you couldn't read properly you fail to see that the "yorrober" man is involved as for the arresting agency. Please don't tribalise everything this is one Nigeria and the western world dont care or dont want to know which tribe you belong. You're just Nigerian all day long. Biko. 1 Like |
