I think you have a better chance with External Auditor though.

OOU is actually grouped as Tier 1 University..

I studied at Olabisi Onabanjo University and it was a four year course. If the person is assessing as an Accountant, he should go through CPA and CA sites to check the courses and ensure they are in tandem with the courses he did in school. Vetassess also assesses 4 year course as being equivalent to AQF so I understand his point/concern.

Also, I do not think the class of degree matters during the assessment (I stand to be corrected). He should review the courses as earlier advised and go ahead with his assessment.

Thanks for the feedback. The person in question finished with a 3rd class in Accounting from the University of Ilorin. Most 4 year degrees from Unilorin are assessed as Associate degree ( like mine with ACS) and coupled with the 3rd class might be reason for matching it as Diploma.

I am not sure the school's syllabus was submitted but based on experience, he will only get Associate degree ( not sure if same as Diploma.. lol) due to Unilorin being a Tier 2 according to AQF standard.

I disagree that Naija degrees are equivalent to Australian diplomas. I read Accounting from a Nigerian University and was assessed as being equivalent to Australian Bachelors (assessed with CAAnz). Praiseisgood read Accounting in a Nigerian University and assessed with CPA and got a positive outcome.

So, please go through the skill requirements and obtain the school's syllabus.

I don't really understand the issue with the job here. If the person didn't burn bridges, getting references and documents shouldn't be a problem (I presume) or he can make do with a statutory declaration.

If you get the desired score in IELTS Academic, you don't need General again. Regarding the transcript - yes what they require (ICAA and CPA) is coloured copy, so you are good.

masonkz, CA is not AUD 170 for full assessment. It is about 610. Not sure how much it is now. AUD170 is actually for reassessment. Please go through the site again to be sure.

I am also wondering why the difference in costs of assessment between CA and CPAA. CPAA is saying AU$ 473 for assessment while the form on CA's website is reading AU$170 . Please is there something that CPAA is doing differently that CA is not doing?

Praiseisgood advised that you assess your ACCA and not your BSc. (I do not know much about this). If you are successful with this option, you get 5 years post qualification - depending on the month which gives you 10 points else you get 5 points if you assess your BSc. Please go through the first page thoroughly to get your 'potential' score.

As per phone interview with applicants or employers, I think not.

Praiseisgood and toslad-thanks, my employment was from August 2011 to July 2016. My employer is willing to provide a letter of employment and any other document that I worked as an accountant.

FCCA2012, I did my assessment with ICAA.

CPA is a little cheaper than ICAA but both are fair with their assessments.

ICAA too does only one assessment at a time (I discovered that during my reassessment as External Auditor) you have to check their sites and since you schooled abroad coupled with your ACCA you have nothing to fear really.

Toslad has provided you all that is required.

I personally have a bias for CPA because I have a smooth experience with them. They also keep to all that is on their website (97%).

With less than AUD 500, you have both your qualification and employment assessed. They also accept Statutory declaration in case you are unable to get reference from your employer.

The only downside with CPA is that you can only have a single valid assessment at a time (unlike ICAA who gives multiple assessment). This to me is not really an issue once you've made up your mind on the occupation you are settling for.

With your ACCA, you do not need B.Sc. Your ACCA covers all the required competencies (subjects).

You however did not provide your employment details (roles and functions) to enable us share experiences. this is very essential

Please go with either ICAA or CPA but align your Jd with the requirement of Accountants.

Go through their sites to check out their requirements. I believe you are good to go with what you have already.

If you assess with either ICAA or CPA attaching your school syllabus and ensuring that your job description is in sync with the required skill for Accountants, I believe you should be fine. Note as Bellong said, Accountants need a minimum of 75 points. So hit the ground running by visiting the websites of the assessing bodies.

I have the soft copy of ICAN syllabus courtesy of praiseisgood. Please, any ideas on how to get ICAN transcript?

I hope you wrote the IELTS Academic, else you would have to write another or PTE-A or TOEFL (I don't know much about TOEFL).

You get your syllabus from your school and it has to be for your period of study - originals are ideal otherwise you use a notarised copy.

I assessed with ICAA and the assessment was very fair. I know someone who assessed with CPA and didn't have any issues too. I don't know much about the 3rd body.

I know their requirements are very similar if not same, so go to their respective sites. For starters, you need a minimum of certain scores in IELTS (academics), PTE-A or TOEFL (I don't know which of the English tests you did).

You need your school degree certificate, transcript and syllabus. I will advise you use your Accounting degree only to get the maximum number of years which you already have.
